Great stay

So peaceful! We were a group of 9 ladies who enjoyed every minute of our stay. We had a taxi service scheduled and had zero worries. The house was as seen in the pics- even better! One night we laid down on the warm pavement of the driveway and marveled at the huge sky of stars. Wonderful.

Everything was great! View was fabulous and we loved the house . The best part was how responsive the management team was to the few issues we had - they even responded promptly on Christmas Day. Thanks for a great house!

I have nothing but good things to say about the property except that I do believe they should have cable instead of the current TV set up
I rented property I built in St. John for four years and I realize everyone uses Roku, Netflix, etc. but I was unable to utilize the TV in the bedroom

Wonderful property. It was clean and well kept. Any issue we had during the stay (issue with door locks and outdoor table) were addressed promptly. The bedrooms all had plenty of space and each had their own en-suite. One of the downstairs bedrooms had just an outdoor shower but it was lovely. The pool is on the smaller side but deep with amazing views. Our 10 and 12 year old still found it fun to play in. The kitchen was well equipped with anything you might need and there were plenty of towels for everyone, bath and beach. The only real downside was that to reach the 3 downstairs bedrooms, you need to take either the outdoor stairs right off the front entry or the spiral staircase on the back deck so you can’t get downstairs without going outside. This really wasn’t a huge deterrent for our group as our 76 year old father who isn’t great on stairs just took the master bedroom upstairs and we had great weather but it’s worth noting. Great property overall that I would be happy to come back to!

Our group of 7 (4 adults, 3 kids) had a wonderful week stay at this property. The property manager team was so communicative and helpful. The house is a great location to get down to Coral Bay, east end beaches and the north shore beaches. Thanks for a great stay!

Great location, beautiful house, pool with a view. Another great spot in Coral Bay!

Our family of 7 had a perfect stay at Dancing Dolphins. The kids ranging in ages 4-17 all fit nicely in the three bedrooms downstairs while my wife and I stayed in the master suite upstairs. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen had all the necessities for preparing any meal. The beach chairs provided were in great condition and made our beach days that much nicer. They even provided basic snorkeling gear. We enjoyed dips in the pool after our daily beach outings.
Dancing Dolphins is located within 20 minutes to all the best beaches and close to 20 minutes from Cruz Bay. The view from Dancing Dolphins looking over Coral Bay is spectacular. We were happy to be in Coral Bay vs Cruz Bay because it’s much quieter but still a quick car ride to Cruz for a dinner or two. We are already talking about our return trip to Dancing Dolphins and I’m sure anyone would be more than happy here.

The house and the location were exceptional -- beautiful views, easy to get to. We had such a fantastic time. My kids (age 6 and 3) loved the pool, my spouse and I loved the outdoor tiki bar space; beach chairs, beach towels, and coolers were provided; communication with property management was fantastic and they had a nice little welcome gift waiting for us when we arrived. Advice would be to bring plenty of bug repellent for dusk and just be aware that you do have to go outside to get to the lower level where most of the bedrooms are.

Perfect house for a family / friends get-away!
We choose Dancing Dolphins as home base for a family gathering on St. John to celebrate a 60th birthday and it was just wonderful! The celebration was a total success and this house was a big part of it. The road to the house was better than most on St. John and our two rental Jeeps fit nicely inside the gated driveway making for convenient coming and going. The house has a completely new and on-trend lower level with 3 bedrooms each with a king bed. We only used two of these and each couple had their own bedroom with private bath (Note: one shower is actually outside which we thought was very cool even with the occasional mosquito). The main level has a huge primary suite with lovely views. (Note: the bathroom area for this room is open and while somewhat private, the toilet area has no door). The main level has not been renovated and retains many classic original features like the soaring wood ceilings and panelling. The kitchen was large and had all the right tools. The entire home has a classic St. John feeling and the original stone work gives it a retro feel we loved. We were entertained at morning coffee on the deck overlooking Coral Bay by a flock of yellow Bananaquits and various hummingbirds. Our daily activities included beach time, snorkeling, sailing and hiking and this house is centrally located for visits to the National Park beaches or over in the direction of Salt Pond. Plus the house came with excellent new beach chairs! A small detail which is actually quite important to a comfortable beach experience! After the beach, we enjoyed the pool/ bar area. We'd recommend this house to any family or group of friends looking for an escape to Coral Bay!

The house is beautiful. The beds were supper comfortable.
The patio, pool and outside bar were greatly enjoyed after a day at the beaches!
Renovations were being completed in the lower level so their were some issues with the smell of paint and construction not yet completed.

Week in Paradise
The property is magnificent inside and out. Each morning, we had breakfast outside and had such a beautiful view of the sea. We went to the beach everyday and would arrive back at the house in the late afternoon and jump into the pool and just relax. I would highly recommend this property. The only issue but minor in nature was that there were no blinds or curtains in the bedrooms. It wasn't a problem for me as I wake up at the crack of dawn. We had a great time and I would definitely book this property again.

Excellent
We had a terrific time at Dancing Dolphin. The location is excellent if you want to be on the Coral Bay side. Relatively close to the North Shore beaches and the east side beaches like Salt Pond etc. The views are terrific and the house was even nicer than we expected. Perfect for a family of 4-8. Also, the service we received from Tracy and Kelsey was fantastic. Highly recommend!

Ultimate honeymoon experience in luxurious villa on the hilltop!
After an incredible wedding we set off on our honeymoon! We saw the views in the pictures but once we arrived it was incomparable! The vaulted ceilings, artwork, amenities, spaciousness and open floor plan gave a very comfortable and easy feeling... that was just the inside... once out by the infinity pool, lounge area and island bar it created a sense of complete and utter privacy and relaxation! The palm trees, flowers and sun made the setting complete! It was more than enough space for us and would be ideal for any group to accommodate! A true experience of a lifetime! The initial hospitality was superb and the keeper of the pool and landscaper that we met were so kind and full of stories and helpful hints on the island! One thing to be cautious of are the mosquitos! Use the tennis racket zappers often! Thank you so much and we will definitely do our best to return!

What a beautiful home in coral bay! The pictures didn’t fully capture the lovely home, quality of finish and kitchen, nor the amazing views! Definitely want to plan our return trip!

This property is beautiful. The house was clean and roomy and had everything we needed to cook on the nights we came from beach. It is 30 minutes from Cruz Bay but the views you get here are phenomenal and you would not get those on beach level. Rob and Joy are extraordinary caretakers for this property. We were very impressed how well the property was maintained! We had issues with dish washer and it was fixed and dishes washed when we got back from beach. The pool is maintained daily so it is ready when we came home from the beach and can enjoy a dip with a beautiful view of Coral Bay. Great place to stay!Denise Howell

Great trip!
Really enjoyed our time at the property. The property manager gave us a variety of good suggestions throughout the trip. Gorgeous view, very quiet, and secluded. Beaches were beyond gorgeous as well. Exactly what we were looking for.

Absolutely best place to stay in St John!!!!
Dancing Dolphins is an amazing place! This is my second time staying and again it did not disappoint. Shirley and their amazing property manager, Capt Rob, were very responsive and always available for any of our questions. The house is a perfect set up for a group of couple or a large family. The view from the pool is breathtaking and a perfect place to enjoy cocktails after the beach. I would recommend this to anyone going to St John on vacation and hope that I am lucky enough to stay there again in the future.

Dancing Dolphins is Great - would gladly return
The property is great. Outstanding views, a nice plunge pool, very well provisioned - perfect for that St. John vacation. If you prefer the quiet, Coral Bay neighborhood of St John as we do, this is the place for you. In addition to a wonderful facility, the property managers, Joy and Rob, are great resources for local recommendations and can provide any support you may need without being intrusive at all.

Paradise, as advertised
Absolutely everything about this house was as good or better than advertised. House is in good shape, everything works (despite total devastation of entire island 2 years prior). The view is unparalleled. From pretty much every room or patio you see lush wooded cliffs, the bay below, stars above. The foliage surrounding the house is beautiful too. Plenty to do within walking distance (hikes, the small town of Coral Bay, the famous smoothies stand at the top of the hill, beaches (though not the island's best ones). A/C worked when needed (not needed much). Well stocked kitchen. The property managers were next door. They were very nice and gave us all the advice we needed about the house and the island, and where to find jam sessions and other live music each night. The vibe was very laid back.

Enjoyable Week at Dancing Dolphins
Outstanding experience at Dancing Dolphins. Comfortable home with all the amenities and great location above Coral Bay. Rob and Joy were attentive and gracious hosts. We recommend Dancing Dolphins without hesitation. Can't wait to return!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dancing Dolphins
The house is beautiful. The views from all of the bedrooms were a joy to wake up to. The plunge pool was perfect to cool off after a day in the heat. The “quiet” side of the island was a nice change of pace. We also enjoyed our sunset sail with caretakers Captain Rob and Joy of Harmony Charters.

Great spot
Great views, comfy beds, plenty of room to hang out both inside and out. The dart board in pool area was a nice surprise, and the view from the pool was fantastic. Sail with Accordion Rob and Joy was fun too!! The drive up to the house is not bad either, so all around perfect place to stay and great location to enjoy Coral Bay and Northern beaches.

Unforgettable
My husband and I travel often to St. John, and our trip in June didn't disappoint. Dancing Dolphins is a beautiful home with a spectacular view in a great location. The villa was clean and well appointed. The bed was very comfy and the AC, TV and wifi all worked well. We spent our time on the various porches and in the pool enjoying the amazing view of Coral Bay. The owners and the local caretakers Joy and Rob couldn't have been any more accommodating and were really a pleasure to meet. We've stayed in many villas on the island, but this place is very special. We can't wait to get back to St. John and Dancing Dolphins soon.

Gorgeous Villa for Great Family Vacation
My husband and our three children (23, 20 & 14) had a wonderful vacation staying at Dancing Dolphins for our spring break. The home had everything we needed and was absolutely beautiful. The panoramic views were amazing. We were treated so well by the owner, Shirley, and the on-site managers, Rob and Joy. We went on a relaxing and fun five hour sailing/snorkeling trip with Rob and Joy which I highly recommend. My children especially loved having a pool and enjoyed a few days just hanging out in the beautiful pool area. The villa had everything we needed to cook and was a great location for a quick drive to the fabulous beaches. My family felt like this was one of our best vacations and much of it had to do with staying at such a lovely, well-appointed villa.

Great house. Spacious, comfortable, with lots of amenities.
My family of 6 stayed at Dancing Dolphins the week after Christmas. We’ve been coming to St. John for over twenty years and have stayed at many houses in that time. This was one of the best. The house has a lot of space (4 bedrooms, though 3 are on a different level from the master and accessed through a separate entrance) and is fully air conditioned. The villa has a lot of great amenities, a very nice (though small - but not tiny by St. John standards) pool, and a great outdoor seating area with bar. The view over Coral Bay is absolutely stunning. Location is great, probably a 5-10 minute drive to the nearest north shore beach (Francis).

So Much Good About This Place But Several Drawbacks...
Seven of us (2 adults and our 5 kids) stayed at Dolphin's Delight for 5 nights between Dec. 15 - Dec. 20, 2018. There is so much wonderful about this unit - so let's start with the good...First, the view: WOW. Simply indescribable beauty overlooking Coral Bay. And the view extends all the way across the house on both levels including from the pool! The kitchen is reasonably well stocked, though the ice maker in the refrigerator is broken and you have to use the outside ice maker by the pool (not really a big deal). The bedrooms had comfortable beds and we were able to sleep all 7 of us without a problem. A big plus for this unit is that while it is perched high in the mountain, the driveway (which has a lot of switchbacks) is fully paved and relatively easy to navigate for a Ford Explorer. We never had to engage 4WD so even non-4WD will probably be OK. The unit has cable (via Hulu) and internet throughout, and there is a nice office with plenty of books to read and a place to work at your laptop if you want. The on-site manager met us on our first night and was very helpful. We used the air conditioners in the bedrooms at night and they all worked great.
Unfortunately, though, there are some drawbacks to this place. First, there are no window treatments facing Coral Bay throughout the house. With many large windows and a balcony door in the master bedroom, this means you're getting up with the sun every morning as it starts getting bright at 6:30am. (At least you are greeted by a stunning view. But on vacation we prefer to sleep in). Second, there is simply no way we could find to avoid mosquitoes and no-see-ums. This unit is tucked into the forest and even though we tried to be careful, a lot of bugs get in the house through the many screens. All of us ended up scratching ourselves most nights - my wife had over 30 bites on her arms and legs. I ended up going to sleep with DEET on the last few nights but it didn't help; I still woke up bitten. The bugs didn't seem to care. The final drawback was the lack of privacy in the master bedroom toilet area. The toilet is open to the bathroom which is open to the bedroom. We are quite partial to not seeing each other on the john - a simply draw curtain or some type of door could be an improvement here.
Overall, I think the drapes issue is an easy fix for the owners and some investment should be made in mosquito trapping/killing within and around the house to make this place 5-stars.

Spacious Luxury
My adult family of 6 plus a 3 year old stayed at Dancing Dolphins on St. John for a week in May 2018 and really enjoyed the house and its location over Coral Bay. Rob and Joy, the caretakers, were gracious, unobtrusive and always smiling when we needed them. We were grateful that the hurricanes had not damaged the house much and that needed repairs were done well. Curtains were not up in the bedrooms yet, but I suspect they are on their way. The home is designed well, with a beautiful master suite on the upper floor, connected to a small office, living area, large galley kitchen and large dining room. Sweeping views from all rooms! Outside, there is a really nice shaded living area and bar overlooking the splash pool. Downstairs, there is a nice bathroom, two bedrooms separated by a large and cool shaded living area. Both bedrooms have equally great views. There is a large washer-dryer set downstairs and an array of diving fins to borrow. Both levels of the house have porches that make great gathering areas or quiet places for books. All the photos on the site are accurate and nicely done.
There is a nice market/grocery (Dolphin Market) less than 10 minutes away and it served us well with our food needs. It will run out of a few things from time to time but the staff knows when they'll be resupplied. Nice places to eat on the Coral Bay side (Miss Lucy's for lunch, Pickles in Paradise, Aqua Bistro). We are all cooks and enjoyed the kitchen.
It is about a 20 minute drive to Cruz Bay, where you can find Mongoose Junction and more places to go, such as Longboard and Lime Inn. A few sketchy people wandering about downtown, but we never felt unsafe.
The main beaches are 10+ minutes away and we enjoyed those awesome attractions! Unfortunately, Cinnamon Bay Campground is devastated and abandoned - the concessionaire has disappeared. Parking lots and beach are open, though! Trunk Bay fees are waived for now but the facilities are open and park rangers are on site. Caneel Bay is closed, so there is practically no access to those beaches.
Overall, we had a wonderful time at Dancing Dolphins and can't say enough about the hospitality of Captain Rob (who we missed playing the accordion but Pickles was absolutely packed the night he played there) and Joy. We had great communication with the owners before and after the hurricanes. Book it.

Go to St. John and go to paradise ☺
We are a happy family of 5 travelling with my in-laws. We would highly recommend having your vacation on St. John in the Dolphin House. Everything worked really well and the house was super clean upon arrival (remember that this was the first visitors in the house after the hurricanes). We were really happy that everything was ready and they must have been so busy. The on site manager was the perfect host and helped us settle in and keeping up whether everything worked as it should, and still kept privat.
Our children loved the pool and it was surrounded by a nice pool area with covered patio for shade and sun beds where you could enjoy the stunning view. The house was spacious and the rooms were lovely. There was room for everybody. We made our meals ourselves and the kitchen was perfectly equipped.
The house had snorkels and fins, and we went snorkeling on the beautiful beaches of St. John. It was so exciting and we saw rays and turtles.

Easter 2018 vacation to remember
We were not sure what to expect so close to the passing of Irmaria (the two hurricanes that devastated the island in Sept 2017) but we were amazed at how nice the island is recovering, and especially how nice Dancing Dolphins has recovered. We have stayed on St John a number of times in different places (Cruz Bay, Bordeux Mtn, Coral Bay) but the location of Dancing Dolphins is our favorite. The Upper Carolina region above Coral bay has great views, and the paved roads are a major plus in my book. The location of Dancing Dolphins is awesome to have as home base, minutes from north shore beaches (Francis, Maho, and others) as well as minutes to Salt Pond or Hansen. We visited all during our stay.
Dancing Dolphins made the most amazing home base on St John. Plenty of room for my wife and I, our two daughters 15 and 10, and my parents that were along for their 50 wedding anniversary. The upper floor has the perfect layout, with kitchen, living area, dining area, office and master suite, all on one level. Every room has incredible views of Coral bay and beyond. Steps outside the dining area is the pool area where we spent most mornings drinking coffee, and watching the sun come up over the boats in Coral Bay. The pool was very inviting and my daughters loved cooling off after a day soaking up the hot sun on the beach. We also found the shaded gazebo by the pool to be an afternoon and morning favorite. The overhead fans provided enough breeze to be comfortable during the hot day, and kept the bugs away even at night.
The lower level of Dancing Dolphins has the other three bed rooms, a sitting area, with work out machine (which we didnt use) and another amazing bathroom. The showers had enough windows to make you feel like they were outside, and most nights we showered by moonlight. The stone work in the baths and rest of the house was truly a work of art. The views from all level of the house were simple amazing.
The only thing better than the views are the property owners and caretakers. They truly made us feel welcome, and were full of interesting local knowledge. They went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay.
We look forward to returning to Dancing Dolphins as soon as possible for our next trip to St John.
