About this house rental
Summary:
An unbeatable view is just one of the many charms of the Rambler's Retreat. This is the ultimate Colorado experience with mountains, lakes, wildlife and mountain town charm -- all a mere 45 minutes from Denver! Our brand new lakefront town home is currently the only three bedroom lakefront home in Georgetown’s Bighorn Crossing community is fully stocked and ready for your arrival. For the best in hiking, skiing, local culture and history, the Rocky Mountains are calling and you must go.
The Space:
Explore the Rockies from your new favorite home base! Two stories, three bedrooms, two and half bathrooms, and a two-car garage(not currently available) all add up to a gem of the townhome that’s both comfy and roomy. Whether you’re a Colorado greenhorn, a repeat visitor or a Denver local looking to breathe free for the weekend, there’s never a bad time to enjoy the Centennial State’s 300 days of sunshine.
Shred at Arapahoe Basin, Keystone or Loveland Ski Area, all within easy reach. Step back in time on the Georgetown Loop Railroad. And hiking is literally on your doorstep -- just lace up your boots and head outside for a relaxing stroll. Keep an eye out for a variety of wildlife, including Georgetown’s famous bighorn sheep. Peruse the listing photos to see the lake and marvel at the view!
One thing our guests love about the home is the awesome layout. The great room, one of the guest bedrooms, a half bath as well as the kitchen and breakfast bar are all on the main floor. This is so perfect for all groups, but especially those travelling with people who have trouble with stairs! The floors are beautiful and everything is brand new in this mountain oasis.
The kitchen will exceed your expectations: full of modern appliances, with plenty of counter space and everything you need to whip up a meal or snack. Brew up your morning cup and partake in the popular Colorado pastime of waking up with coffee, birds and wildlife. Everything is fully stocked for your convenience.
Weather keeping you inside? The mounted flat screen TV is set up for streaming and the enormous L-shaped couch is just the place for lounging, snuggling and enjoying the peace and quiet. And if you’re looking to unplug, the lovely view is also visible from the couch. One of two guest bedrooms is also downstairs, complete with a trundle bed for extra sleeping capacity. This bed can comfortable sleep 2.
Head upstairs to find the master bedroom and the second guest bedroom. We are huge fans of upstairs bedrooms in general, but these are especially pleasant and well appointed. The master has a queen bed outfitted with luxury linens. The master bath delivers some nice upgrades like a walk-in shower and his-and-her sinks.
Also upstairs you’ll find a guest bedroom with -- surprise! -- rustic and stylish bunk beds. Of course these are great for kids, but if we’re being honest they are just as big a hit with adults. The bunks sleep 2-3 people depending on guest preference. There is a trundle under the lower level bunk. And the full guest bathroom is a necessity for group and family travel.
Stay for the night, the week, or longer! We love to accommodate extended stays. This space is Colorado personified and distilled into one luxurious, cute package with all the bells and whistles. Book with confidence today!

New property right on the lake. Had everything we needed!!
Walking distance from Cabin Creek Brewing (as in 0.2 miles) which had great drinks and food. Downtown Georgetown itself (about 0.7 miles away) has numerous great restaurants/pubs.

We came to Georgetown and rented both properties (Elberts Escape and Ramblers Retreat). The properties were in a good location and these are the only ones in the area with a garage. There were little frustrating things that weren't deal breakers-the garage door codes didn't work, the power went out, the trash dumpster is a bit of a walk. There will be constant construction in this area for the near future as they are building within 20 feet of the front door. If those things don't bother you, then this is a great place to stay.

Really disappointed with this property. When I got there I figured I had the address wrong since the windows were boarded up, but no unfortunately that was the property I paid for. Every towel was stained and the property smelled like cigarettes and marijuana.

This is a great place in a spectacular location. We had 5 adults and 2 kids. The sleeping situation was a little tight at times, but not a deal breaker. The living room/kitchen was great for feeding our crew and playing games together. We had one slight issue with the tv, that we were able to resolve very quickly over messages.

Location was perfect! Setting was cozy & fit for the 5 of us! Plenty of room!
Does need some maintenance, but just simple things, nothing to hinder your stay.
-Ice maker in fridge
-Broken Outside lighting
-Broken window boarded up
-With construction its difficult to know which unit to go to

Great property! Clean and well stocked. Worked perfectly for our group of four. Would stay here again!

I'll start with some positives. Property is conveniently located. We enjoyed walking around the lake, fishing, walking down the path to eat at the corner restaurant, and utilizing the Microtel for swimming and hot tub. The house was spacious and relatively quiet, which was a surprise with the construction area around and the highway within view.
I wish better arrival instructions were given as we pulled in late at night and with the construction around and lack of outdoor lights, it was very unclear how and where to pull up to the property. In the dark, I was unknowingly driving on the walking path nearby, looking for a place to turn around.
I will ditto some of the other reviews regarding condition of the house. For a place only 2-3 years old, I would have expected there to be less maintenance issues. The broken outdoor light, dishwasher not screwed in place, boarded up exterior window, and bowed garage door were borderline safety issues alone. Many other cosmetic issues as well.

Property was clean and in a great location to many hiking trails.

This is our second stay here. LOVE the LOCATION. Property could use a serious refresh. Towels are stained and torn, carpet is scary, dishwasher is not installed properly and tips when used, hair in mixing bowls, cookware is sparse and feels like a college student garage sale (may want to make sure you have proper items before meal planning), cords are almost every window shade are broken, bathroom floor tiles broken. But it was better than our last stay, towel and sheets were dry this visit since I requested this luxury prior to our stay, dishes and floors were cleaner this visit compared to previous stay. We will likely return to this area but would like to see the above comments addressed before we continue to pay hundreds of dollars for cleaning and fees every visit.

Nice condo in a beautiful location. Right next to I 70, but we knew that it would be. Right next to a lake and a short walk to a brewery/restaurant.
Stayed a couple days to hike. Georgetown has a cute historic downtown.

We loved the location and the lake was awesome to walk and fish. We only had a little trouble with the electrical outlets. My husband had to reset. Otherwise everything else was good. We love the little town of Georgetown. It was a great location to go back-and-forth to different places in the area. We were glad we brought a couple of outside chairs to sit outside. I had read a review that someone suggested that. For our particular unit there was room to be outside and just to look over the lake so I would suggest that for anyone.

We had a great trip to Georgetown this past weekend in a great location! The house was comfy to fit 6 adults, and a great spot to easily access the lake, breweries, and downtown. We were there for The Slacker Half Marathon, and having the house made the whole experience way less stressful than having to deal with an early morning commute and I-70 traffic.

The flooring wasn’t clean- carpets all need replaced and it’s a new house! Didn’t looked vacuumed.
Didn’t hear about check in procedures and had to call to get the code.

We flew in Denver late, and had an hour drive to the property. Upon arrival it was evident the heater in the upstairs master was out of service. It kept reading error message. It was 17 degrees outside, snowing, windy, and the bedroom stayed at 65-67 degrees. Trying to get the situation corrected was a lengthy process and even then, they just wanted us to rebook a new location. Property Management took a very long time to respond.. No offer to come fix the heater, no immediate switch of locations. Nothing. Not to mention the bedrooms had TV's with no remotes in site. Half of the thermostats were literally taped onto the walls. Very misleading listing and will absolutely never recommend this stay to anyone. Highly disappointed considering the cost of the stay.

We really enjoyed this property. They did a really nice job with the decor. It was super convenient to have a garage (detached)
The approach was a little weird as the property is still in the middle of a construction zone. So, you drive up on a bumpy dirt road and the front entrance faces a chain link fence surrounding a massive dirt area where presumably more condos will be going up soon.
But, that did not change the fact that once inside, it was comfortable.
One thing that would be nice would be some instruction in how to use the television. There were a number of remotes present for the main television but none for those in some of the bedrooms. I never could figure out if there was local television. We were there during March madness and it would have been nice if we could relax and watch those games, but couldn’t. We finally were able to log in to our own Netflix account to have some fun evening diversion.
Just fyi, there is no dining area to speak of in this unit. So, if you have a group, dinner will be around the kitchen counter or sitting in the living area.
Finally, I would say, if you come expecting a hotel like experience, this is probably not the place. However, if you come expecting it to feel like you are borrowing your cool friends condo, then this is a good place for you. I wouldn’t call it the most professional experience, but the place was nice, and comfortable and we enjoyed our stay.

Overall this was a really nice place to stay. Right on the lake was great, although there is more wind here since there aren't really any trees to break it up.
Everyone slept comfortably for the most part and kitchen had enough utensils to make meals easily. Garage parking was great to load up the family (including the infant) while being sheltered from the elements.
Master bedroom TV had some issues but we managed without it. Only other downside was getting the key to get in. There are 2 lockboxes near the front door. The one on the post didn't work but the one mounted at the corner of the house worked out. Wish is was a digital lock to make that easier, but wasn't really a big deal at all.
Was super easy to walk to the Cabin Creek Brewery (highly recommend) and the microtel for pool/hot tub.
Would definitely stay here again! Thanks for a great family stay.

The unit fit our group of 6 well. Any more would be tight. A really nice place with everything you need in a beautiful area. Perfect location for a Grays/Torreys hiking experience.

Property was perfect for us to stay in and socialize to recount our day with the various local activities. Had a decent little brewery within a. Maybe 2 minute walk as well as fishing mere steps away

Awesome clean & updated property. Amenities were as described & Georgetown was a great, mellow location after a tough 14’er. Highly recommend this property for families or friends getting away from it all!

Slacker Half- Marathon Weekend
This was a great place to stay for our group that was in Gerogetown for the Slacker half-marathon race. The condo was loacted in a wonderful spot, close to town but not too close. I would suggest that there be some type of outdoor seating available for guests to access during their stay. Also, an early check out time of 10:00 seems a little early, most rentals ask that you are out by 11:00, espeically when chek-ins aren't until 4:00 too. Overall it was a great stay!

Nice addition to Georgetown
Perfect size and location for a few ski bum dad's and their 4 kids ranging from 9 to 16.
Tight quarters, but hey u are there to enjoy the outdoors. Pool and hottub at the hotel was great, good hiking as always, great views...good food choices, have been staying in Georgetown over the last 25 years, nice to see the investment to the area to make it a easy ski connection to Loveland.
Would recommend the owner add coat hooks along the stairwell and also supply some chairs outside in the area between garage and house.

Easy, Accessible, Convenient, Clean!
This was a great property. The host was very responsive, and everything about this property was easy. The location was conveniently located for our ski resort trips to Arapahoe-Basin, Winter Park, and Loveland Ski Area as well as to plenty of restaurants in georgetown. It also is very close to the town of Idaho springs. Cleanliness and comfort were on the mark. We will definitely stay again when we are in the area!

Nice place, faulty HVAC
My boyfriend, Mom, daughter and her friend stayed here for 4 nights. Size wise, the place was great for us. Beds, bathrooms and the kitchen were comfortable. What we didn't like was the garage door was broken when we got there so they told us we couldn't use the garage (it was late December/early January, so that's a problem), both the upstairs and downstairs heaters didn't work right the entire time (upstairs was far too hot and downstairs never got warm enough, even with the faux fireplace on high), the ice maker didn't dispense ice (it makes ice just fine, just doesn't dispense) and the glassware available left something to be desired (only coffee mugs and wine glasses). I would stay here again if they got the HVAC fixed. The town of Georgetown is really neat and we did the historic train ride, which was a lot of fun! We skied in Loveland, which is very close and spent a day in Breckenridge, which was also a lot of fun (about an hour away).

Beautiful home and location!
Other than some recent wind damage, the place was perfect. It sits right on Clear Creek as it feeds Georgetown Lake! The owner was great to work with as well!

It was very new and nice. Had all we needed. But the light and fan systems in the bedrooms were messed up. You could turn light and fan on in one room and it would also turn on in different bedroom. There should be specific instructions or else the electrician screwed it up. The only other thing I did not like or realize was that we would be facing a construction site. We were lucky because of rain they didn’t do any work while we were there. But overall it was great and I would stay there again.

Third party communication/Appliances, ceiling fans and amenities scarce
Prior to booking I sent an inquiry regarding the "electrical issues" :
1) ceiling Fans/lights not working properly
And was advised everything had been fixed and was working, only To find it was NOT! Fortunately we brought fans or it would have been extremely Hot a few days. As for the microwave, we couldn't use it without blowing the circuit and according to management company the fireplace should have been working as well and it wasn't.
No outdoor seating, all plastic chairs were broken. Would be nice to have a place to sit outside . No Grill, frustrating. Toilet paper roll in master bath broken, coffee pot broken, couch dirty. I communicated the major concerns to the management company. They replaced the coffee pot immediately, but advised all other issues had been reported to the owner. I never received another phone call or email and nothing was fixed. Honestly feel like the owner, should be held accountable for these things either by ensuring everything is functional, being upfront and advising of possible concerns/issues and or fixing them immediately when notified by renter. To rent a place for 9 days, pay the full fee and property not functioning as promised. There should be some sort of compensation to the renter. Overall, the place was nice but not ready to be rented. The owners should be held accountable.
