The property was absolutely perfect for our trip, the apartment was meticulously clean, located close to lots of great food, and extremely close to Acadia.
The apartment itself was easy to find, spacious, and homey. The beds were comfortable, and it had everything we needed to feel comfortable! The microwave, fridge, and coffeemaker all came in handy too. JF gave lots of helpful recommendations. Just a note, there's a gravel driveway leading up to the parking area, so don't be surprised!
We loved walking around the property by the stream and kayaking on the lake. Super convenient to access the kayaks!

Rustic little gem. Beds were comfortable. Sits on wooded area that was very inviting. Utilized the kayaks in a lake that is walking distance. Very much enjoyed our stay. Only thing I could possibly complain about is the chairs in the sitting area are not very comfortable. Our host was very kind, helpful and informative of the area, as we went to Acadia National park.

Overall great stay and great host!

Great homebase for hiking Acadia. Family (2 parents, 13 year old and 11 year old) stayed for 3 nights. It was a great spot for the quiet side of the island but still easily accessible to the locations we wanted to go in Acadia. We prepared quick/easy breakfasts in the rental, packed a lunch and were on our way. We typically got dinner out but the rental is equipped with a grill, if desired, or possibly bring an electric griddle with you. JF and Sue were wonderfully accommodating hosts, available for information as need but not overbearing.

JF is a great host. Great to interact with and lots of advice.
Basement apartment works well with a king and single bed in one bedroom and a queen and top bunk bed in a second bedroom plus microwave, decent sized fridge, coffee maker, dishes, and grille by the picnic table.
His property is a lot of fun for kids. Our boys loved playing croquet and bacci ball and loved the big swing in the tree. We didn’t even have time to take advantage of the kayaks or enjoying the wooded areas by the stream. Quiet but convenient location on the island about 15-20 minutes at most to anywhere.
Definitely recommend!

Quiet forested location away from the crowds, but the central location made it a great home base and it was quick and easy to get to either side of the island. The hosts were welcoming and quick to respond to messages. We stayed here with our 1 year old daughter and our close friends that we were traveling with. Our only regret is that we weren't there long enough to take advantage of the lake access.

The two bedroom basement apartment was clean and conveniently located to both sides of Mount Desert Island. The beds were comfortable and the place was outfitted with all the necessities for an extended stay. The property was quiet and peaceful. There was access to Long Pond across the street from the property and a sandy beach swimming hole about a 200 yard walk down the street. Hosts J.F and Suzanne were very informative, extremely accommodating and friendly. Their dog Brandy was also an exceptional host. Overall an outstanding place to rest and unwind after many adventures in Acadia National park.

We enjoyed our first visit to Maine and Acadia and this place worked great for our family. JF was the best host ever and sat down with me to review what we were interested in doing and he gave insider advice about where to park and how to avoid the crowds during the busy 4th of July week. We liked this quiet side of the island - the Acadia Loop Road and Bar Harbor are very busy during summer so go very early in the morning or take the free island bus from the Hulls Cove visitor center. One bedroom had a king bed and twin bed, the other bedroom had a queen bed and a twin loft bed with a ladder. Amenities included fridge with freezer, coffee pot and coffee, microwave, toaster, electric hot water kettle, dish tub, dish soap, dish towels, cups, plates, silverware, coffee mugs, bowls, plenty of towels and wash cloths, grill and grilling utensils, 4 kayaks with life vests, and access to a nice swimming area nearby. We cooked over the campfire one night (firewood was provided) and brought our electric griddle to make breakfast and hot sandwiches outside on the picnic table. As long as you are ok with no stove, washing machine, or dishwasher, this place is perfect!

Are you looking for a quiet respite from the crowds in Bar Harbor and the other popular tourist areas yet still be within short distances from Acadia’s highlights? This is the place to stay! We loved coming “home” to our clean and cozy basement apartment. The beds were comfortable. In addition to basic meal prep amenities, there was a grill we could have used. The hosts quickly responded to inquiries. They left a very detailed binder with all the information we needed to ensure a satisfying stay. On the property, the deer were a delight to watch, and the creek in the woods provided a peaceful place to unwind. Our only regret was not having more time to spend here. We hope to return one day!

Great place, the hosts make it special. We were able to use the kayaks on a nearby lake and the host helped us transport them there. It was just what we wanted!

We loved our stay here - we picked the property because its location on the island as well as the amenities available to us. Having free access to kayaks and beautiful ponds whenever we wanted is an amazing perk of staying here. Also the hosts are great and helped us out with any questions we had about the area, as well as dusted off some of their old toys for our baby to play with! Highly recommend staying here if you want to be on the island within 20-30 mins of everything, and want to be able to explore the property on foot or by kayak! Thank you!

We had a very comfortable stay at this property during our visit to Acadia NP. Our hosts were very good at communicating with us and I was impressed with the cleanliness of the property.

We felt like we were in the center of Acadia, but without all the crazy crowds! Nice wooded lot with access to a stream and lake. (We wished we had had time to use the kayaks!) Easy access to the “quiet side” hikes. The inside provided everything we needed for our stay. The king bed was very comfortable, and the microwave, fridge, and coffee maker allowed us to easily eat in when we wanted. The hosts provided SO much helpful info about the area, and we used many of their suggestions to plan our activities!

Many hosts are lovely, but these host are as my kids said, Extra! Located a quiet drive from Acadia National Park. We scored Cadillac Mtn sunrise tickets. Our hosts were so proud of us making it there for sunrise they made personalized certificates.

My aunt and I decided on a last-minute trip to Maine to visit my cousin, who lives on MDI. We managed to find this hidden gem, which is only a couple of miles from my cousin's house and had everything we needed. We spent most of our trip kayaking and hiking, and it was great to have a place close by to shower and sleep. The beds were very comfortable -- there is a king bed and a twin bed in one room, and a queen and twin-sized loft in the other. The bathroom contained a bunch of products that smelled heavenly. The only other room contained a small table with chairs, which was the ideal spot to share a cup of coffee in the morning (there was a coffeemaker, electric kettle, microwave, and fridge). We also had full access to the outdoor grill, picnic table, chairs and other outdoor items. J.F. and Sue were very welcoming -- we had easy directions to find the house and they left hiking and restaurant suggestions that were some of the best of our trip. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for somewhere to sleep soundly after a long day of MDI activities.

This was exactly what we hoped it would be. A quiet place to rest after a busy day in Acadia. JF was so easy to communicate with and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had all the information we needed. The gift of a homemade bird feeder was the sweetest touch. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

This property was perfect for our visit to Acadia National Park. We were warmly welcomed by the owner who showed us around his beautiful 4.5 acre property. There is a creek with sitting area, paths, picnic table with grill, etc and you can use his kayaks and canoe at Great Long Pond which is right across the road - a wonderful added bonus.. The property is on the “quiet side” of Acadia, but centrally located so you can get to all the many sights easily. The beds were comfy and there is a room to eat and watch tv. Probably the best part of this VRBO is the owner - who can give you any tips about sights, hikes, restaurants, etc that you are interested in. We told him the things we were interested in and he took time to tell us the best options….and he knew spots that even the park ranger volunteers didn’t know about. He was kind, welcoming and at the same time gave us privacy. It was exactly what we needed.

Myself and 3 friends stayed here for 4 nights to explore Acadia. We were welcomed by kind and generous hosts who shared tips and helpful information for the area. The stay is on a beautiful property with easy access to all the many wonderful parts of Mt. Desert Island. The hosts are so sweet and have a long history of loving Maine. Highly recommend staying here!

The real gem if this location is the property. Lake access. Stream going through. Woods. A grill for cooking if you want. And the quiet side is a plus. 20 min to Bar Harbor if you want to go in It’s a basement (and my 6’2 son had to duck to get through doors). It’s small but had what we needed-some separate spaces. No real living space/area, and I didn’t read closely enough to realize that there was no sink in the kitchen area-so did dishes in the bathroom sink.

We had a wonderful time staying at JF and Suzy’s property! It was the perfect spot for our family of 4. We spent time exploring the property and took advantage of the pond, canoe and nearby beach. Our two sons loved having the freedom to be outside and enjoyed spending time on the pond.
The location was central to everything on the island. It was easy to get back to after a day in the National Park and central enough to catch dinner in one of the nearby harbors.
JF and Suzy could not have been more accommodating and friendly. They were extremely welcoming and even took time to interact with our boys. They are also extremely skilled craftsmen and it was fun getting to see their art. The accommodations were everything we needed for our trip to Acadia and we would come back in a heart beat!

This place was a great location to Acadia and Bar Harbor! The beds were comfortable, place was clean, and the owners were friendly! They greeted us on arrival and gave a lot of good tips of places to go and eat! They were very accommodating and even gave us a small handmade gift for staying with them, which was very nice! I would recommend this place if you are planning on coming for a weekend or for an extended weekend!

This was exactly what we were looking for… a place to stay that was close to the big attractions in Acadia, but away from the crowds.

We had everything our family of 5 needed for a three day Acadia adventure. Clean, comfortable space. Kind, hospitable hosts who gifted us with a one of a kind, hand made souvenir. Beautiful secluded property. Excellent location to Acadia and Bar Harbor.

JF and Sue were great hosts who were always available to help with suggestions on what to do and where to go. They even walked us through a lobster picnic at the outdoor table on the property! It was delicious and fun. The accommodations had everything we needed and provided a clean and convenient home base for our family trip to Acadia. Minutes from all things in the park in a quiet area away from the busier parts of MDI. It was exactly what our family needed it to be!

The owners of the property are very kind people and made us feel welcome while also giving us our privacy. The property was perfect with 2 separate bedrooms and plenty of space. Would definitely stay here again!

The property is rustic. If you're looking for all the frills, skip this one. The property is beautiful and the host was very nice. The smaller bedroom only had a double bed and a loft and the double bed was very soft. We are used to a very firm bed., so this wasn't the greatest for us. We were provided with coffee, sweeteners, some games and tourist information in the unit. There were plenty of towels and washcloths. We enjoyed our stay.
