We had a great visit to Cape Charles and loved staying here. We loved being close to all the shops, and having access to the golf cart for getting around town. The beds were comfortable and the house was a great place to return after a day of exploring.

Has a lot of character and charm . Beautiful floors throughout the home. We had a problem with doors not closing or opening properly! Kids had a hard time getting out of the bathroom,

Third year vacationing in Cape Charles. Second year staying at this location. Once again a great trip. Owners had a few open days at the end of our trip so contacted us to let us know and we were able to extend our vacation- who doesn’t like MORE vacation. Had a slight mishap with TV not working. Contacted the owner who got back to us immediately. Next day someone was out to take a look and within a day had a new TV set up and ready to go. Already thinking ahead to next years stay!

We came for a family vacation and rented both sides of the duplex and another home. This was our second time staying in this home and it worked great for our family. The property owners were pleasant and helpful. We didn’t want to return to reality.

The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. The perfect town for a short stop for my daughter and I to enjoy on our way down the coast.

Family vaca
Overall ok. Older overall but comfortable. A bit of a haul to the beach so you’ll want a golf cart if you have kids! but SO close to the shops and restaurants which was great (Ice cream for days!). We loved the porch swing especially with a baby !

Great location!
Our family of 4 had more than enough room (we didn’t use one of the bedrooms)! The house is in a great location (walking distance to the main stretch of shops and restaurants).

Great Easter visit
We had a great visit at the Caroline house. Everything was very clean and we appreciated the games left for our kids to play with. John contacted us a few days before our trip to offer us use of the golf cart, which was perfect for carting our young kids around. They had a blast!

Great Trip
Great trip, great house and good location. Easy to deal with the owner and easy to stay would do it again. Just wish the check out with 1100 instead of 1000 but I understand. Would definitely rent again great experience for my first VRBO.

Attentive Hosts - Great Location.
We stayed while having work done on our boat at Cape Charles Yacht Center (10 minute walk). Our hosts were attentive and helpful in making our extended stay perfect. Hosts were interested on making stays better as well for next guest as well. Thank you. We will be back.

Home away from boat
Great house for entertaining family
While we had boat yard work at Cape Charles Yacht Center. Thank you for making it so easy and comfortable.

Great location and cute décor but some upkeep needed
While the location was excellent, the decor was cute, and the beds were comfy, it was evident that the rental needed some upkeep. The slats in several of the mini-blinds were broken, light bulbs were missing in a few of the lamps, and the toys included in the beach wagon had seen better days, particularly a broken buggy board. In addition, we had to move the garbage receptacle upon our arrival away from the house because of the smell - it was filled with crab shells/remainders from a previous guest.

Moms' weekend away
My girlfriends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at "Caroline" last weekend. We loved sitting out on the porch with a cocktail. The proximity to Dead Rise Pies was convenient! We were so grateful to rent a golf cart from the owners as well, it made the trips to and from the beach super easy. The house had absolutley everything we needed to be comfortable, my only recommendation would be for heavier shades in the front bedroom to block the wicked sunrise. Otherwise, it was perfect! THANK YOU! We will be back!

Great location
This review is actually for the "Chloe" side of the duplex (not "Caroline"). We booked Caroline, but some time after booking we were contacted by the manager and said there was a "booking error" and we had been switched to Chloe. We purposely didn't book Chloe for a few reasons, but mostly b/c of the claw foot tub. We knew it would be challenging to bathe our child in that kind of tub. Anyway, we were given a "take it or leave it" option (either take Chloe or try to find another place to stay, which it was too late to do), so we took it.
PROS: Location is amazing! Great porch swing. Wonderful beach wagon, games, chairs, etc. Overall comfortable place to stay. We only used 2 of the 3 bedrooms - FYI, one queen bed had a firm mattress with a thin memory foam topper, the other queen bed was extremely soft. Nice big dining table. Fully stocked kitchen. Ceiling fans throughout. Really cute, tiny downstairs bathroom with a toilet that's small enough for a small child to use. Michelle was responsive and easy to communicate with. Easy check-in/out.
Note to parents: there is a long stairwell with hard wood stairs, so make sure you have a baby gate.
CONS: Claw foot tub - I loathe these things for various reasons, one of which is that the shower curtain surrounds you on all sides so it's impossible to not have it constantly stick to you. It's also challenging to bathe a child in it due to the height. So the tub was a big annoyance, but that's just a personal preference. A few things were a bit old, like a rickety ceiling fan in the middle bedroom, which we didn't use b/c it was wobbling way too much for comfort. There was a broken lamp. The lighting in the kitchen is poor b/c the light above the stove wasn't working. This was annoying b/c we had to cook quite a bit b/c most of the restaurants in town kept running out of food hours before they closed.
This has nothing to do with the property, but if you're planning to go to Cape Charles during the week, beware that the restaurants right now are seriously understaffed / under-supplied, which means there are lots of tourists wandering around searching for food. Even if you get on a wait-list you may get turned away after waiting an hour or more (this actually happened). I'm sure this is just a Covid-related situation and things will get better soon. We've been visiting Cape Charles for years (which we love) and haven't had this problem before. Also note - the tap water in town tastes bad so bring water!

The cape captured us from the start!
First time at the Cape and I don't want anyone else to find out about this magical place that just drew us in and welcomed us with great big bear hug. This property is not right smack in the middle of the Cape's Historic District but just far enough away to make it perfectly quiet and so close you could walk to everything within a few minutes. Plus it's super safe as it's right across the street from the police station. There are some run down homes and feral cats next door but they are under renovation (the homes, not the cats!) and should be looking pretty spiffy very soon. We didn't mind the older homes in a bit of disrepair bc they added to the charm of the town. This IS NOT the OUTER BANKS ---Thank God which for me is like transferring all the angst of Northern Virginia to the beach--who wants that? The homes are well loved and well lived in and all different. It reminded me of a well established NY or VT town that got dropped at the beach. Churches and pubs on the corners and walkable streets with sidewalks. We LOVED everything about the Cape from the very start. We went for a writer's weekend but only one of us got any writing done. There was so much to do and a wide variety of interesting people to talk to along our way to the beach. It should only take 5 minutes to get to the beach but it took us far longer because everyone talked with us. One beautiful morning we spent over an hour on a front porch of someone who has lived at the Cape for nearly 30 years. That evening we had an impromptu dance party with other vacationers right on the main street. Every day was magical for us-gorgeous May weather, great food at every restaurant and some of the friendliest people you'll meet. The house itself was older but decorated very nicely. A lot of care went into the bedroom decor. The kitchen is small but sufficient. We didn't spend a lot of time at the house- we were too enamored with the town itself and the quiet beach. But the home was nice while we were there in the evening and the early morning. We used the front porch for coffee in the am and drinks in the evening. Perfectly suitable. For us writers- having desks in each room would have been helpful as there was not a place to spread out notes or a laptop--but plenty of room in each room to do so if the owners so choose. Usually I look forward to getting home, but I didn't want to leave this place. I cannot wait to return and start looking for a home of my own.

CC Getaway
Nice house, great communication with the owner, easy check-in, great location. We met the neighbors, so very nice. We enjoyed the front porch, but the new swing was a bit wonky as it is offset and swings crooked, so you have to be careful not to bang into the porch railings. We enjoyed our stay!
