About this house rental
Listen for the loons or watch for the eagles off the expansive wrap around deck at this secluded getaway home in DownEast Maine with views of Schoodic Mountain and access to Flanders Pond, a fresh water paradise with swimming, fishing and kayaking.
When you walk into this spacious lodge with pine walls and wildlife décor, you will feel the serenity.
In the spring, the brook is rippling and you can sit outside and enjoy the comforting sound of running water in the trickling stream. The summer is perfect for splashing in the clear waters, fishing off the dock or kayaking out to the small island. In the Fall, the scenery is spectacular. As you drive into the Lodge, you will see the trees in various shades. At the Lodge, you will enjoy the view of the vibrant colors from the spacious wrap around porch. In the winter, bring your gear for ice fishing or snowmobiling. It is a beautiful sight when everything is covered with a blanket of snow.
Not far off the Schoodic National Scenic Byway and the unspoiled, uncrowded Coast of Maine at its best. You will enjoy the mix of fresh water access with easy proximity to the salted coastal views along the Scenic Byway and the Acadia National Park. Located less than a half hour from the entrance of the Schoodic Penisula and the breathtaking Schoodic Point in the lesser traveled part of Acadia National Park.
The outdoor opportunities are endless. Whether it be hiking, biking or 4-wheeling or snowmobiling, you will have access to many trails in the area. The home has a full private beach on quiet Flanders Pond (the size of a lake) with provided kayaks. You can swim or fish in the pond. Beach front includes a dock suitable for up to 20 foot boat (not provided). Boat rentals are available in the area. Flanders Pond offers good fresh water fishing and is great for ice fishing. Join the ice fishing tournament in February for a chance at prizes!
The private, spacious front yard overlooks the water and features a hammock, swing and fire pit. Enjoy the sounds of the babbling brook or the loons calling on the pond as you relax on the deck or enjoy the Adirondack chairs closer to the water.
There is plenty of parking space for your vehicle and trailer so you can bring your boat or ATV or snowmobile. Located on a dirt road (2 miles on dirt road) with easy access to the Downeast Sunrise Trail system for ATV’s. Boat rentals are available nearby.
This is a year round rental. Come and visit during the off peak tourist season for a lower rental rate. The large pond freezes and makes for good ice fishing or skating in the winter. Fall is a beautiful time around the Lodge when the leaves are in full color.
The house features beautiful rustic furnishings including a large hickory dining table that seats 10 with a view of the pond. The kitchen is fully equipped with plenty of dishes, cooking equipment, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, blender, etc. The large refrigerator features water and ice and the large gas stove/oven will cook for a crowd! Amazing lake to kayak on. Clean water to swim in. Enjoyed the fire pit for s’mores. Setting in the woods for a quiet getaway.

Very nice place in what I would call a lake but apparently Maine labels them as ponds. Quiet, off the beaten path cabin not too far from Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park but far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle. To quote my brother “This place is awesome and I would stay here again 100 percent.”

The property was amazing! The owners thought of everything in terms of amenities needed during the stay. They even had newspaper as a fire starter! The house was beautifully decorated and spotless! The area is so private and we enjoyed fishing and kayaking. I hope to return some day!

We had a terrific stay at this beautiful home. The house was beautifully decorated and the views of the lake were spectacular. We really enjoyed the kayaks, fishing poles, and the fire pit. With a family of 6 we had plenty of space to enjoy each other’s company but also had enough room to spread out for quiet time. The hosts were very helpful with places to visit even stopping by to offer additional kayaks and fishing poles if needed. They were responsive and accessible and made check-in and check-out a breeze. I would love to visit Maine again and would definitely stay at this home!

This house was amazing! Beautiful home on the water, everything was sparkling clean, everything you think you need is there! We had a family of 9 and had plenty of space to sleep, eat, play games, and relax by the water. The kayaks were a bonus as was the whole house generator, which was great during a power outage due to a storm. We were about an hour from Bar Harbor and Acadia, which is where we spent most of our days. Closer was Tidal Falls to explore at low tide and Schoodic Peninsula was a beautiful and quiet spot to climb rocks and even picnic by the ocean. Best food: Geddy’s in Bar Harbor for their haddock and the best blueberry pie! Also go to Momo’s Cheesecake to get any flavor of the best cheesecake! We enjoyed the puffin/lighthouse tour with Bar Harbor Whale Watch Co. & Diver Ed’s was so much fun! We truly loved every moment spent together at this beautiful house and would love to return someday!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful cabin nestled in the woods of Maine. Breathtaking views of the lake, a beachfront fire pit to enjoy, and lovely, spacious accommodations.
Naomi was a great host and communicated easily.
I am only giving this rating five stars because six isn’t offered.
Loved our stay! ❤️🍁🍂🦞🍷

This property is much prettier than the pictures show, it has everything at the house you could want without needing to leave, we had so much fun, the view is AMAZING! Naomi and her family could not be more gracious hosts! They truly care about you and want your stay to be perfect! The kids had an amazing time, Tidal Falls is a MUST see, we could not get enough of it, we went to Bar Harbor whale/dolphin watching, Acadia park, cadillac mt., ate Lobsters at Trenton Bridge (wonderful people) played adventure golf, shopped and so much more! Had a great week! Looking forward to a return trip in the future, MAINE is a beautiful State!

My wife and I stayed at the home with another couple and we were extremely pleased with our choice. First, the owner was extremely responsive and provided a home that was so clean and stocked with items that it allowed us to have an excellent six days touring the area. The property was 15+ minutes from Ellsworth and it was a very private site. The home was situated on a rise above the lake with a beautiful view. We thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit down by the lake and wish we’d had more time to enjoy the property. It was everything we had hoped and more. Whenever we had questions, the owner answered by text in a very timely manner. If we are in that part of the country again, that will be our place to stay.

We had such a wonderful stay and enjoyed being able to kayak, fish, and swim everyday while taking in the beautiful views. Most nights we enjoyed sitting by the fire and there were many local places to find firewood! The home is gorgeous and we loved the rustic feel and decor. Naomi was very responsive and helped to answer questions I had about the area. There was plenty of space for family dinners! We were all sad to leave!

This property is even better than the pictures posted! It was clean, very spacious and well stocked. We enjoyed early mornings on the deck overlooking the water and evening’s making s’mores around the fire. Location was an easy ride to Acadia and other points of interest. No need to travel to Ellsworth for supplies and food as the local market had everything we needed. One of the best properties we have stayed at!

We just got home from a wonderful week exploring Bar Harbor and the Acadia area of Maine...and we are already planning our next trip! Naomi's home was marvelous! Clean, private and had everything we needed for an amazing week! Enough Kayaks for our entire group...there are 6 individual and a double kayak! The pol table was a huge hit...we even had a family pool tournament one evening! Fire pit with everything you needed...minus the wood! They had s'mores sticks which the kids loved! I was slightly nervous about the "2 mile dirt road" drive...but it was actually totally fine! The road/gravel is hard packed and we had no problems at all! We saw plenty of deer and one day even a couple of porcupines! Also, Loon and a bald eagle on the pond! We always love seeing the wildlife! If you enjoy hiking...the hikes right off the road are quite nice! We did the upper trail one evening and even though we got a little wet because of the rain, everyone had a great time! Naomi had suggested Tidal Falls reserve and I would highly recommend as well! Very neat little park with a ton of starfish!!!! Wish we had planned to bring a picnic and stay longer! She also suggested Chippers and Ruth and Wimpy's...both great choices! Wimpy was very friendly ad let my husband and younger boys come int he back and look at the lobster...he was happy to talk and share his knowledge! Chippers was delicious, fairly priced and lots of choices! Wonderful Trip!!!! 5 Stars for the House!

Upon walking in to this awesome rustic cabin themed house we realized the posted pics didn’t do it justice at all. Decorated perfectly and every piece of furniture was beyond comfortable! Our hosts thought of everything. The fire pit area is perfect for hanging out and the huge deck is awesome for everything from enjoying a book to playing cards or eating dinner with a view. This retreat is definitely off the beaten path with a long dirt road so make sure your car has good shocks. Small price to pay for the peacefulness of this pond.

My son and a few friends enjoyed the time spent at this property. Unfortunately my wife had a trial that didn’t settle so we were unable to go so his trip before law school was spent with a few friends. They lived the outdoor activities in the area and said the home was very nice and located in a perfect area. He is a boy so he didn’t get into details but I seen many pictures so he must of really enjoyed it. Hopefully next time the rest of UA can join him.

This was our first time to the East Coast/Maine and it was not disappointing! Not only secluded with beautiful scenery. The amenities were much appreciated as we went fishing, kayaking, and local walks. Naomi was exceptional and quick with return responses along with recommendations prior to arriving that we may want to stop by local Walmart that saved us time. The house was very clean along with a list of details about the cottage! We did a lot of boat tours, lobster eating and just enjoying every moment, every sunrise and every sunset! Would definitely come back!

Though this place is little remote and rough roads, if prepared for that, the place is very comfortable, clean, private, organized, spacious and I can only list all the good things you expect during a vacation stay.

The house is large, spacious and clean. The furnishings are really nice, high quality. The owners are great and made us feel welcome. There is a great selection of family DVDs and a huge selection of games. The pool table is really nice. We enjoyed some fishing and kayaking. The location is good for trips to Acadia and Schoodic. Overall one of our best vacations.

We absolutely loved the week in Maine. The house was great and the scenery was spectacular. The cabin was the perfect place to see Bar Harbor and Acadia National park. Naomi had everything we cpuld want in the house and grounds. We used the kayak’s several days, the hammock was my place to nap a day or two and everything we needed for our Lobster boil was provided including great directions on steaming the lobster and a great guy who sold is the lobster's. The week was fantastic and the cabin made it perfect. Every night we ended by the fire pit overlooking the lake and it was the perfect place to end the day. Could not have been a better vacation and Naomi was a wonderful host. We will be back

We had a wonderful time here! Kayaking on the lake and playing pool downstairs were amazing amenities. The park was a 40 or so minute drive to most hikes which was perfect for us. Would recommend!

Enjoyed our time here. We were able to visit Acadia and had a nice place to return to at the end of the day. Had everything we needed and we liked the pool table.

Fantastic property with everything we needed for a week-long vacation for a wedding we were attending in Sorrento. The house is in an amazing secluded location that feels completely private - no neighbors visible through the trees, on a nearly-private cove on one side of the lake with the nearest neighboring dock a hundred feet away. Fantastic view of the lake, bald eagles flying low directly over the yard multiple times, fire pit for s'mores, kayaks...really everything you could ask for. House is also well-stocked with games and a pool table which was great since we had a few rainy days. Host is extremely accommodating and easy to reach, even provided a high chair and some toddler toys when we said we were bringing a 2 year old. Everything in the house is clean and in great condition. Cannot recommend this property enough - we loved it enough that we will consider renting again in the future, even if we don't have a wedding as an excuse to make the trip.

The Lodge was perfect for our family vacation. We had 4 couples and my infant son and all felt well accommodated. It was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay.

My family and I had an amazing week at The Lodge. We enjoyed a super clean, comfortable house (and beds), and blissful surroundings on a stunningly beautiful lake. Our family time together was restorative and unforgettable. We were sorry to leave, but we return home feeling recharged physically, spiritually, and emotionally; the way vacation should be. This is a very special place.

Stayed July 23--30: If you are looking for quiet solitude in the heart of the woods this is the place for you. The house, tastefully decorated in genuine backwoods style, & property are very well maintained. The house lacks for nothing--kitchen is well equipped (even has all required needs for a home lobster dinner) and replacement essentials are close at hand. Kayaks, a paddle board and a beautiful firepit will keep you active outdoors; while there are plenty of games and books for rainy days plus the bonus of a pool table. Inquiries to host Naomi are addressed immediately. We were surprised that access required several miles drive on a dirt road, but that only added to the rustic charm. Photos are good and true to the house and property, but really cannot do it justice!

Beautiful, Secluded, peaceful.
What a great property, the house is rather new and in wonderful shape. The host couldn’t be more attentive and helpful. It takes a bit of a drive on a lane and half gravel rd but well worth the drive. Great place for a relaxing getaway.

Lovely vacation
We loved our stay here and highly recommend this house. My husband and 2 kids (14 & 17) spent a week here with my in-laws. The house is clean, well stocked and as pictured. Grilled most nights. Refrigerator has a water and ice dispenser. Kids had fun playing billiards and roasting s’mores . Lots of family games to choose from. My daughter loved the hammock. Enjoyed exploring the pond in the kayaks. Pond was refreshing to swim in. Owner was very responsive. We rented a pontoon boat and enjoyed cruising the pond. Restaurants and convenience stores are within easy driving distance. Hiking nearby and convenient day trips up the coast.

Private Paradise
We had a wonderful friends and family vacation here. I could have stayed right there for the whole time and been completely happy and content. We loved fishing and kayaking around the pond. Evening campfires and strolls on the dirt road balanced out of deck time. There are beautiful sceneries from all of the windows and multiple places to read a book, have a co versatile or just sit in peace. Plenty of all the things we’d have at home from cooking utensils, pots and pans, dishes and cleaning supplies. We are so very happy to have found this wonderful place.

Perfect Summer Vacation Lodge!
We traveled up to Maine for a family vacation with 3 families in tow. Nine people comfortably fit in the lodge. Age range was 1 years old to 65 years old. Everyone had a BLAST! Fun for every age! Naomi was very communicative and made sure everything was taken care of before we even arrived. This made for an easy arrival and ability to get settled quickly. The lodge is gorgeous and has the most beautiful views of Flanders Pond. The lodge comes with all the toys and amenities needed to make for a memorable vacation on the water, including kayaks, stand up paddle board, fishing poles and a fire pit we used each night to cook s'mores. It is close to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, the Schoodic Peninsula, Tidal Falls and so much more! It was the PERFECT location to make our home base for the week. Thank you so much Naomi! We loved staying at your beautiful property!

The cabin is down a dirt road which did make us nervous coming in after dark. However once we made it the cabin is so cute! The next morning we were in love with the beauty around us. We all loved kayaking and drinking coffee on the porch. We had a great stay!

Beautiful property
Incredibly beautiful property! We loved the view of the lake and watching the sunsets in the morning. The home was cozy, clean and well taken care of. The kids enjoyed the fire pit for s’mores and all the games in the basement. It’s a little bit of a drive to Acadia and Bar Harbour but we felt it was worth it to get a large beautiful home to stay at with friends and family. Thank you!!
