About this house rental
Beautiful private sound front property shaded by 100-year old live oak trees with a dock. Just one mile from The Boathouse Marina, public boat ramp, and two miles from the Beaufort docks...perfect distance for golf cart rides. This amazing tucked-away rental sports the most incredible sunrise in Carteret County as it rises over Harkers Island bridge. Life is slower here where the egrets fish in the marsh and dolphins play as the tide lazily rolls in. This 1800-sq-ft comfortable cottage has been recently renovated and boasts three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, full capacity laundry room, and spacious living and entertaining areas, including two outdoor decks for additional leisure. Plenty of space to park boat and trailer in yard. Male and female beach cruiser bicycles provided for meandering through town. Brand new dock that is 12-foot on the T. Catch crabs in the crab pot provided and fish off the dock. No swimming due to oyster rocks in the marsh and shallow water. Bring your kayaks for incredible adventures through the marsh. By boat, it's only 20 minutes to get to the Cape and 7 minutes to Wade Shore and Shackelford Banks. Gas up the boat around the corner at Boathouse marina. Linens included; smoking outdoors only. We charge a $150 non-refundable pet fee for one dog under 50 pounds. Copy and paste link into your browser for house instructions.

The location was on the water and the dock and setting made the place. Great place for morning coffee and afternoon beverages. The bathroom setup made it hard to share with a bigger group. The bathroom sink needs to be fixed so water can drain without prying a knife in. The front steps are out of code with the top step off by 1 and one half inches. You should fix before someone gets hurt.

If you love beautiful sunrises, watching the dolphins in the sound and a quiet neighborhood then this is the rental for you. The kids loved riding the bikes. We rented a golf cart and as it was just a short drive to town, we took it everywhere. The home was very clean and spacious. The kitchen did lack some amenities like a single serve coffee maker, but the drip coffee maker worked fine. We enjoyed sitting on the dock drinking our morning coffee and fishing. The host was very responsive to my texts.

Beautifully situated home with gorgeous views and a nice, quiet neighborhood. You're still so close to everything Beaufort has to offer. Great!

My husband and I stayed at this house for Thanksgiving. We were very happy with it. It's comfortable and well set up for vacationing. There is plenty space. The kitchen is big and has pretty much everything you need to do your own cooking. Everything's in good working order. The view of the water is very restful, and as a bird watcher I spent a good amount of time on the dock waiting for birds to come by.
We caught crabs off the dock and had them for lunch.
The house was clean, and the owner, Jen, was great about communicating with us. We were able to check in early. My only complaint is that the bathroom in the master bedroom does not have a door. Hopefully that will be fixed soon.
The location is in a quiet neighborhood. If you are hoping to whoop it up and have wild parties, this isn't for you. It was peaceful and we enjoyed the quiet. We hope to be back!

Too many artificial scents. They are unhealthy chemical substances.
,loud noisy fridge, wet towels in the towel closet, bathroom sink did t drain well, broken chairs on front deck, master bedroom hot water in the bathroom took forever to get hot. Perhaps some insulation of some kind would help.
No cutting boards, bikes needed air in the tires,
However, we did enjoy ourselves down by the dock. It was a lovely spot to hang out.
Thank you for our time there.

Very nice and clean with a great view.
Very convenient for the boat with the dock.

We had a wonderful stay. My wife and I had a king bedroom and her parents did as well. Our son took the room with two beds. There was plenty of room for all of us and there was even a day bed in another room we didn't need. The kitchen is large and open to the main dining area, plus another TV room with nice leather couches and an amazing view of the water and live oaks. Of course, the boating in this area is one of the main attractions, so having our own boat dock available was so nice. We put the boat in on day one and never had to take it out until the end of our stay. The dock also has some amazing sunrise views. The location is very convenient to the public boat dock and downtown Beaufort. Great spot for sure!

This is year two at this awesome house. It’s just right for a friend get away and the dock tops the list of reasons why. To walk out the door and step onto the boat in 1 minute is the best. See you next year.

This property had plenty of space for 4 adults and 2 kids. Bedrooms were good sized. Very quiet neighborhood. Water views were great. Linens were soft. Jen was very responsive to any questions.

Had a great stay in Beaufort and caught up with family. Beau Point was everything we needed and really enjoyed being able to have our boat right at the dock. We used it almost every day! The weather was perfect all week. Highly recommend this property.

Beaufort is a beautiful little town. House was very nice and served our family well. Pretty much everything we needed was there. I have a home nearby but can’t use it yet so I wanted a place nearby that I could have easy access to my boat. Very close to the free boat ramp and the Boathouse Marina. Took about 15 minutes to get to Wade Shore on Shackleford Banks to anchor off the shore. Best place to be on a nice day! Fished off the dock at night. Would be a great spot for kids to shine a light in the water at night to observe the shrimp, fish, crabs. Nice views from the back room or porch overlooking the North River, Harkers Island.

This house has such beautiful views! It is conveniently located so that Front Street in Beaufort, Morehead City and Atlantic Beach are just a short drive. The neighborhood was very quiet. There was plenty of room for our family and it was nice to have our dog on vacation with us. Hostess was easy to communicate with.

Our family loved this property. The live oaks, view of the water, and the dock -where our 2 eight years old spent hours fishing, checking their crab pots, and working on using their cast nets- were perfection. The house was great and had all the necessities. The owners were a pleasure to work with. We hope to visit again soon.

Property was clean and easily accessible. The views were beautiful. Close to stores but far enough away to feel like you’re away from it all. Home is spacious with plenty of seating. There are board games, corn hole, bikes, and plenty of outside seating. There is a boat dock nearby if you take a boat. Having linens and towels included is a huge plus for us and there were plenty of towels. There was a TV in the living room area and one in one bedroom— we actually ended up being glad there was not a TV in each room… we had more together time which was much needed. The pictures and description of the property were accurate. Definitely recommend this property to anyone thinking about renting it.

This home is a great getaway for anyone wanting to relax and de-stress. Close enough to the city for shopping and far enough away to be relaxing.
Thanks so much!

We loved staying at The Black Cat. We will definitely rent again. Check in was super easy, Jen gave us the code to the house and we just walked right in. I have been coming down to Beaufort for years and love how quiet and peaceful this property is. If you don’t want to stay downtown Beaufort this is the best house on the island in my opinion. The 2 porches and the dock are the best places to hang out. If you have a boat there is a dock to come and go from also. We had no complaints about this property and will definitely be back. Thanks again Jen!

This wonderful place is located close enough to enjoy the local attractions but secluded enough to be peaceful. The beautiful dock is located on the sound and the sunrise is perfect. We will return to this spot as often as we can.

House was very short drive to Wildlife ramp, which was perfect for us. And the home had excellent view of the water and was very spacious, clean, and beachy. The ONLY complaint is we hope they can install a door of some type between bathroom and bedroom- other than that it was PERFECT!!

The dock and views are definitely the highlight of this property. It's close to everything and I could see doing a lot more outside in the Summer. The manager was helpful and the rules left were easy to follow. All in all, it was a great place to spend time with family.

The house is in a close to the town of Beaufort, has a fantastic view of the river and we really enjoyed being able to tie our boat up on the dock. We are already planning on reserving again for next year.

We enjoyed our stay here so much! The house was clean and there was plenty of room for our group of 6. It was the perfect location for our short weekend fishing trip. Short boat ride to cape lookout, shackleford, and harkers island area. We loved having the dock. We brought our boat and were able to leave it tied up at the dock. We caught several crabs using the crab pot provided. One of the bikes was in terrible condition and not able to be used but we really didn’t have much time to use them anyway. The owner was quick to respond to any questions. We would definitely stay here again!

I think the maintenance crew missed some problems. Upon arrival Sunday, the main tv had a damaged screen which was usuable with thick multi-colored vertical lines and had a damaged frame on the right bottom side. The remote the tv in the master was missing too which was a Roku tv and would not work without it. Basically, we had no functioning TV. The owner was contacted, was unaware of these problems, and responded that she would contact the maintenance crew to replace the tv and the remote but was unclear when that would be. No wanting to go without a tv that night I went out and bought another tv which was a smart tv and the wifi was more than strong enough to use it for Netflix etc. and I was able to salvage the evening. I told the owner not to worry about replacing the tv on this trip as I preferred the smart tv I bought.
The house was clean except for one stain which looked like an urine stain from a pet, which we cleaned up and removed. On the six day, Friday a Roku remote for the Master BR tv was dropped off in the mailbox. It worked well but it was little compensation for my wife who loves to fall asleep to the tv on. The water from the tap had a rotten egg smell and appeared to be from a well. We have a shallow well at our ranch and we know the smell. There are numerous ways to remove the smell and this matter should be corrected.
The rest of the house, linens, the features, view, and furniture are all good and the kitchen was well stocked with utensils and kitchenware. The three bedrooms are spacious, and beds are comfortable. I would add that the semi-transparent drapes could use some backing to preserve privacy in the bedrooms and windows. The den sliding doors also need drapes or blinds that can block the view into the room which gets a lot of traffic from visitors coming down to the dock and the family that uses the house which is close by.
The house us well suited for our dogs and we enjoyed walking them in the neighborhood except for one neighbor who lives in a large white ranch style house nearby who came outside and accosted my wife yelling “get your God damn dogs off my lawn... (they were barely on the grass by the road) I’m tired of picking up your sh** off my lawn” My wife who was holding a green bag of waste tried to explain she always pickks up after the dogs but he was very angry. I suggest not walking dogs on that side of the road.

Beautiful views
It was the perfect place for combined families to relax. The boys fished, caught crabs and shrimp, and swung each other on the tire swing. The owners purchased a crab trap for us to use the day before our stay.

Beautiful property and great location
Almost everything about this property was perfect!! The owner was very communicative and helpful for anything that I asked. The only complaint I have is that one of the full size bed’s was in serious need of a mattress topper. I messaged Jen about it and she wasn’t sure what happened to it and immediately was working to get a replacement but couldn’t have one shipped until after my stay. We improvised and folded an extra comforter up and put it on there but it was really uncomfortable for my 70 year old mom to sleep on. If it weren’t for the mattress, I would definitely give it a five star review.

Great location
This house was in a great area in Beaufort and we took the hosts suggestion to get a golf cart and had a GREAT time! There was unfortunately no areas to fish on the property but we scooted over to the bridge on the golf cart with all our gear and it was easy and fun! The kitchen was well stocked and had all the gear we needed to cook every meal. Charcoal grill on the back made for some great burgers too! The one drawback was the water taste and sulfur smell. The host was extremely responsive and we worked a couple ways to clear the line but I recommend getting some jugs of water for coffee and of course some bottles to drink. All in all it was a great trip and as the hosts work on the existing updates and dock should only get better!

Absolutely wonderful
Excellent views from the house and yard! The house was perfect for our reunion. Wonderful neighborhood. It was a fantastic stay.

Great location, Very Overpriced
I feel three stars is kinda generous for this property, especially for the price after what is expected/demanded of our stay. There was no dish soap even though we were asked to wash all dishes (no dishwasher). There were no trash bags, ice maker was broken and we were given one roll of toilet paper per bathroom for 7 people for 3 days/3 nights.
Our group had a good time with the corn hole boards, which was a plus. The main issue is there was something wrong with the water system….showering and brushing your teeth with water that smells like sewer—not okay. The location and water view were cool and the neighborhood was nice and quiet.

Great hidden spot for family getaway
Our family had a great week at the Black Cat in Beaufort! Nestled among the most majestic Oak trees with sunrise views of the sound. Quiet property with plenty of parking for cars and boats. Close to the boat ramp and downtown Beaufort. The tire swing was a huge bonus for the kids. Jen was so easy to work with and very responsive. We would definitely stay here again in the future!

Beautiful creek side location with an amazing view across the north river. You can see harkers island bridge from here. Less then a mile to boat ramp and on a quiet dead end street.
