An okay place to stay, but only if you dont care about hot showers.
The room is small but suitable for two. The host was so helpful, he really made me feel welcome and helped me with good information about where to go. The facilities were adequate, cooking was easy. The room was authentic and colorful, and the bed was comfortable. The casa was situated in a good area, and easy to get to the bus stops. There is a good cafe and restaurants nearby. It is a unique place to stay with a Mexican 'Frida Carlo' theme. It was cute!
The room was very noisy, with dogs barking all night and the host owns dogs which are locked up in a room onsite, and barked a lot when he was not there overnight. The light came into the room all night and you cant sleep in a dark room. The room was very cold, and there was no heater. Worst thing was the shower, which sprayed water over the walls, and not on me! The shower pressure was weak and the spray so fine it took a long time to wash...worse, it was not warm enough, i couldn't get hot shower, which was unpleasant.

Loved it would go back there if I ever returned to Mexico City, I want to be amongst the locals.
The owner was super helpful. There was everything I need for a self catering week. Close to busses, and hop on hop off stopped at basilica. Cheaper to buy a day or better still a weekend special than catch taxis and do lots of bus changes to get into the city. Little shops selling everything from fresh fruit and veg to chicken and the fresh maize tacos/wrap bakery that seems to never stop.
Bottom sheet and pillow cases.
