If you're looking for a vacation rental in Boothbay Harbor where you can make one quick grocery trip to Hannaford's and never have to get in the car again, this is it! I booked this cottage specifically because of the location, and it totally exceeded my expectations! I stayed there from August 2-9, 2024 with my 18-year-old son and senior Shih-Tzu, and we loved every single minute of our trip. The house was clean, comfortable, and we loved having our own bathrooms and bedrooms on separate floors so we each got a little privacy and space. Having a pool table was such a huge bonus, too. We played every evening after dinner, and then we also took advantage of the board games provided in the home, specifically Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble.
Back to the amazing location. I cannot say enough about it! The home is about a 10-minute walk into town going over the Footbridge, which is a destination in itself. My little dog and I had the best time strolling across it every morning and checking out the boats together! Barret Park is also just a short 5-7 minute stroll from the house, and we loved going over there every afternoon to take in the views. It's a great spot for swimming, too, though we didn't wind up getting in the water this trip.
The week was all about relaxation! My son and I spent our days walking into town to shop and enjoy the local seafood restaurants. Our favorite in town by far was Kaler's (especially the fish and chips), but we also enjoyed the Tugboat and McSeagull's. The view from the Tugboat is great, but be sure to get there right when they open to get a spot.
Almost every night, we'd walk down to the Boothbay Lobster Wharf, yet another just 7-minute or so stroll from the house. We've been there quite a few times on trips to Boothbay before, and it never gets old. The food is phenomenal, and the atmosphere can't be topped. If you're a fan of mussels, don't miss out on the ones at the wharf. I didn't have them until our last night, and they were the best mussels of the trip by far. They also have live music on weekends, which was so much fun!
Spending a week in this gem-of-a-home was exactly what my son and I needed, as he's headed off to college in a couple of weeks, and I'll officially become an empty nester. Having that quality time together in this perfect little piece of heaven in Boothbay Harbor was such a gift.
We hope to return next year for more walks, food, relaxation, and fun!

The house was conveniently located and had all you need for a pleasant stay. Situated in a small road, it is very quiet. Easy walk to the great restaurants, shops and cruise tours. The foot bridge cuts the distance and offers a great view of the harbor on the way to the local attractions. The house has all the amenities that you need for a pleasant stay. Beds were all comfortable and clean. The house was cleaned well. There are a few bugs the get in the house. The first floor that include one bedroom does not have AC but there are ceiling fans. The kitchen is well equipped for a quick meal. The deck and grill needed cleaning. Barret's park is a wonderful place for a quiet stroll that allows you to see the other side of the peninsula. The botanical garden just about 10min drive is worth the visit. I would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed the home and all that it had to to offer. It is in a great quiet neighborhood with the park just a 5-minute walk. Also just a few minutes walk to the pedestrian bridge that takes you into town. The pool table is missing a ball, and we could not get any live football channels for either college or NFL. The kitchen is well stocked. We would love to return in the future. We can see all of the upgrades you have made over the years and enjoyed reading the journal of everyone’s stay over the years. It actually pointed us in the right direction for food and walking to different areas. Thanks again for sharing your home.

The home was very clean. very well stocked kitchen, did not need to use extra paper towels, toilet paper ,etc I brought along just in case. All utensils needed were present. Kitchen, bedrooms very well furnished and many nice recliners in family room to watch netflix on tv. Nightlights in bedrooms and bathrooms were a very thoughtful touch. Location couldn’t be better to walk across bridge to downtown or go to Barrett park with dog. Very quiet neighborhood, no traffic. Will definitely return if coming back to the area.

My husband and I enjoyed this home and had such a relaxing vacation . The house has everything you need and has an awesome deck right off the kitchen. One of the best things is that the home is literally in the best location as you can walk to the foot bridge in under 10 minutes which takes you to the shops, restaurants and a great cup of coffee. The yard is filled with sun and did bbq's, lit fire pit and did lots of relaxing. We don't have children but kids would love this home also as the bedroom upstairs has 4 beds and chalk boards on the walls. Plenty of room in yard for kids and it's a small street with hardly any traffic. This home is perfect place for a getaway as far as location and how cozy it was. We didn't want to leave and hope we can make it back next season. One more thing to add, we bought live lobster right down the road and Brady's restaurant also down the road had good burgers for lunch. Thanks for an awesome stay! Perfect home!!

We really enjoyed our stay in Mabel's Cottage. The house was immaculate and had numerous thoughtful touches throughout. Beds and furniture were comfortable and in very good condition. Kitchen was well equipped and deck was in good shape, although a few of the deck chairs were starting to wear thin.
The neighborhood was very nice and an easy walk into town or to Barrett Park if you don't mind a few hills. A lovely couple who we made instant friends with live across the street and gave us tips for local places to visit (Ocean Point!).
We would definitely stay here again on a future visit to BBH.

8 harbor heights
Could use anti slip pads for the deck steps when it rains. Lights in living room and up stairs bedroom need to be looked at. Lights keep flickering on and off at night. Bigger trash can for multiple people stay there. Other than that. Love the house and location. Would recommend to friends and family.

Wonderful Stay!
We had a wonderful stay at Mabel's Maine Cottage! The place was so sweet - clean, new, private, and a very relaxing setting. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever. The house is a 5 minute walk to a beautiful park in one direction and the town of Boothbay Harbor in the other. There's a working lobster wharf pretty much at the end of the street (Atlantic Edge), and they'll even steam them for you if you call in advance. Would totally recommend it and we hope to come back again during the "high season". Thanks so much for a wonderful week!

Disappointed in Vacasa
The property is nice and it’s a great location however we didn’t have heat. We tried multiple times to text or message Vacasa and they never responded.

Our family vacation 2021
What a great house to stay at with grown kids! The pool table was a big attraction, but everything about the place, the proximity to the ocean, the downtown, the cleanliness of the home and the amenities all worked together! It was a 10! Please invite us back again! The Norris’s

Didn't want to leave!
We loved our stay at Mabel's Maine Cottage! The house is beautiful and the location is perfect. It looks newly remodeled and very clean. Walking distance to lots of restaurants, shops, and Barrett Park. It's surrounded by trees so you have a bit of privacy, and you can actually get a glimpse of the water through the trees. The kids room has chalkboards on the walls and coloring books and crayons, which was a nice touch. We would definitely stay here again. It was the perfect location for our vacation, and we didn't want to leave!
