We really enjoyed our stay, even though it was rainy. Touring around the museum and the various train cars was super fun. The grandkids (ages 4, 6, 7, 9) were over the moon with this 'surprise' overnight stay before we headed to our cruise. The staff were terrific. The pullman car was awesome. We knew it wouldn't be a spotless, newly built hotel room, but this made it all the more exciting to be in a venue from days gone past.

The process of booking the venue to checking in and out was so easy. We will be returning to stay again in the future.

What fun! More room than we expected, great courteous and helpful staff. Interesting look back into rail travel. The grand boys just loved it and, of course, want to come back. The railroad museum is a treasure . Thank you!

We stayed here the night before our cruise. Incredibly unique experience and everyone there were very friendly and helpful.

We had a family group of 9 staying the night before our cruise and could not have been happier about our stay!! The team at the museum, especially David and our porter Dennis, we're super welcoming and helpful with information about our stay and nearby dining options. The Bonnie Brook train car was so unique and access to the museum let us get out and stretch our legs. Absolutely recommend this stay and we will likely stay again the next time we're in town.

Staying on the Bonnie Brooke was a great overall experience. We all enjoyed checking out the trains, exploring downtown and being so close to our cruise ship. The only low point was the air conditioner running all night and lowered the temperature to the 60’s. I contacted the person in charge of maintenance but they didn’t start their shift until 6:00 am. Even though it was cold enough for a polar bear, we had a great time. It was very cool to step back in time and experience what life was like on a rail car.

This was such a fun property to stay at!! Our group ranged in age from 70 years old down to 7 months old. All of us had a great time! Very unique place to stay. The staff was extremely accommodating and quick to answer any questions we had or help us in any way. We were greeted with a basket of goodies, fun items for the kids, and even a handwritten thank you note for staying on the train. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
Thank you so much to David and his staff for making our stay such a pleasant and fun experience!

My grandson loves trains!! When he found out we were staying in the Bonnie Brooke Rail car he couldn't believe it. The train was beautiful, clean, nice toiletries, my grandkids had a blast playing hide and seek, and running around. The muffins for breakfast were good. I would come back for a special occasion. Would be fun for a girls getaway.

Said free Wi-Fi. Not true. Told to use our own hot spot. Same with TV. Their hot spot box had been removed and returned on the final day.
Said 5 bathrooms . Two not working.
Said warm muffins/ breakfast delivered every morning. Food left in the afternoon, not breakfast..
Poor staff communication.
Given 4 different numbers to call for 3 days. Often no or slow response.
No water for several hours while train tanks refilled.
Non working generator had to be replaced.
Smell in the working bathroom s.
Leaking water across the floor when raining.
Refrigerator at 50 degrees. Off temperature.

We had such a good time for our family vacation- 10 guests slept well. Our favorite part was being locked in at night and able to explore without other people around! David was attentive and e loved our stay!

A fun experience for all ages. We look forward to our next visit and spending the "Night at the Museum".

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience in the historic railcar! In spite of 100°+ temps, the a/c was quite impressive. You must make use of the entire experience by touring the museum. The attendants were very helpful. We easily walked to the strand. I recommend this stay for anyone that enjoys history or unique experiences!

We like overnight trains and this was a fun way to experience it with our family, exceeded expectations! The host was warm, welcomimg, and beyond generous with welcome goodies! (Local treats and 2 toy trains for our littles) Our on sight porter was friendly and very helpful. Great location, really close to everything. Our 2yo was so excited and cannot stop talking about it. Will definitely be coming back!

We got married at the train station and spent our first night in the Bonnie Brook. It was an amazing experience.

We LOVED the train and location. It was so nice to step out and be so close to so many things to do. Teen boy was excited to try out all the 'devices' in the trail. Perfect for exploring a bit of history.

Was a unique fun time. Kids thought was so fun to step back in history. The people taking care of the Railway cars and Museum were so kind and nice. Helped us in many ways. There were 3 rooms with two twins and one room with a double and a twin above. He let us put a couple kids on couches. Would highly recommend.

What is it about trains? They are just so big and powerful, and yet majestic – even if you see one moving slowly along its tracks you must stop and look. But to be on a train car, especially one that is over 70 years old and steeped in history, is a special treat. Our family (kids, parents and grandparents) spent the night on the Bonnie Brook, and it could not have been any better. The preparations by Host David Robertson and our Porter Justin made our stay truly memorable. There was plenty to do and see both inside the car and around the museum. Then after a good night’s sleep, we munched on muffins as we prepared to depart for our day around Galveston. Our thanks to David and everyone at the Galveston Railroad Museum for making our stay so wonderful!

We celebrated our daughter's Sweet 16 at the Railroad Museum, and stayed the night on the Bonnie Brook. What an experience! The railcar is super cool, and all the teenage girls really loved it. I know it is something they will never forget. We loved it too! They even had muffins and candy in a gift basket for us on the train. It was a nice little touch that we appreciated.
David is easy to work with and was very helpful getting everything set up for our party. Thank you! They helped us have a great celebration. I would highly recommend staying there or even having your next event there.

Unique. Great location adjacent to night life. Friendly staff, nice museum to tour.

David and his staff were amazing. They were there to assist with set up and tear down and gave us privacy during our event. The train car was the perfect place to celebrate my son who never outgrew his love of trains.

Train museum director David was awesome!! So nice and helpful with any questions I had and took the time to allow me and my family to view the train ahead of time to get an idea of how to set up for my party. Everyone that attended was so impressed with the whole experience and some want to already plan for their events on the train as well....!! Thank you to all the staff at the museum and the gift shop - they were all wonderful.

The train car had a nice and spacious guest area and plenty of bunk beds for everyone to sleep. The train car was very clean. Check-in was very easy and seamless through the manager. We did notice that the train car is little dusty and some of us woke up with an irritated throat. None of us had asthma or severe allergies, but this could be something to consider.
Around the premises, there were some friendly neighborhood cats. The manager was very friendly and very helpful during our stay. Overall, we had an excellent time at the train hotel.

Great family vacation spot
This was a great journey back in time. The people went out of their way to take care of us!

Bonny Brook stay
What an experience we will always cherish. We had 5 adults and 2 children celebrating a 70th birthday and wanted a unique experience while in Galveston. The Bonny Brook did just that. Situated in the Railroad Museum just off the strand, this rail car had 4 bedrooms with single bunks and 1 bedroom with a double bunk. There was 4 half bathrooms and 1 full bathroom at the end of the car. The car was fully air conditioned and has a nice seating area for people to lounge in. Additionally there’s a galley for food storage and heating up left overs. The best part of the experience was the staff and the museum itself. Along with the stay, we were able to take a ride on the railroad museums working train and walk through the museum.

Great hospitality! Kids loved the experience of not only sleeping on the Bonnie Brook but exploring all the other trains at the museum.
Also a great location to downtown and The Strand.
Thanks to David for the hospitality and experience.

Great Experience! So Unique!
We rented the Bonnie Brook Railcar previously owned by Jackie Gleason for my fiance birthday. Our party consisted of 5 adults and 3 children. The sleeping quarters are tight (it is a train cabin) but sufficient enough for our group. Most cabins have "powder rooms" in each. They each also had a fold down stainless sink with mirrors in powder rooms. I just loved them. So cute. They have ample room for visiting, eating, watching tv towards front of railcar. It also included a small but efficient kitchen (again remember you are on a real train car). Along with a bathroom that is equipped with a shower, toilet, sink. Overall we loved the whole experience. The grandchildren had fun along with the adults. David was so easy going and accommodating. My only regret is not bringing dress clothes. There are soo many great photo ops. The price was a little out of our price range, but you would be hard pressed to find accommodations for so many at that location. Besides, it is a rare opportunity to be able to stay on a railcar with a history. We would do it again! Thank you David for everything!

A Fun & Memorable Experience!
This was a one-of-a-kind experience and not something that you will find anywhere else. My wife and I visited for the start of our 24th wedding anniversary and we had a great time during our 2 day stay.
David did a great job setting out everything that I had requested with the champagne & chocolates to welcome us and Devon was an awesome help as our 24x7 porter and gave us some great dining and experience recommendations as well.
It was also really fun to learn about the railroads and to actually spend some time in what was the peak-of-luxury during this pivotal time in American history.

David was so amazing during the entire process, which is why this review is bittersweet. We travel the world a lot and considering Covid, we wanted something unique. Granted, the photos are limited, but I figured a vintage train lets do it. Unfortunately, I was not able to physically see the inside of the overnight train quarters until my arrival for our event. David text a IG video, but interior looked remodeled. I made a reservation and David was so kind to suggest we can have a small birthday party on the train since it was my daughter's birthday. He even suggested we check in early to set up for the party, so the toddlers can ride the train.
1. We arrived 12 minutes after the arrival time suggested and were told check in is not until 4 pm. I informed her of my communications with David.
2. For train tickets, we received three responses from two employees. At this point, I realized communication amongst the staff is terrible.
3. We are waiting and an employee tells me the train is not clean, and it will take a few minutes. I'm thinking okay, this reservation was made months ago. David arrives and inform me it will not be ready until noon. Keep in mind the party starts at noon. My husband and Godmother were furious. David was kind to say the cleaning crew finished one section of the train and we can unload. David was so kind to help up load and unload everything onto the train.
4. I get inside and I can see all the history in the carpets and chairs.. I may be borderline OCD, but it had a grime look. The interior did not justify for the nightly cost. There is a difference between vintage and outdated. The cleaning guy left the table after he finished cleaning. I followed behind the cleaning crew member with clinical grade disinfectant wipes and the wipe went from white to large spots of black stains. My husband seen that, and was not happy. He actually suggested we stay at a hotel. My husband placed his hand on a wall for reasons unknown and noticed something sticky. The a/c was not functioning due to needing more fluids, so we had to wait 45 minutes to 1 hour for the maintenance guy to refill the fluid. He explained when guests turn off the a/c it drains. At this point guest are expected to arrive within 30 minutes.
5. We left around 6:45 am when we realized all of the toilets were not functioning. We left so fast, my husband said he think he forgot to close the front door to the train. This is a good concept, but it needs a lot of work.
