Pretty much everything…

The town and the area.
You get a room nothing else!

Location was ok. Honestly, it’s just good that it was in Venazza.
Only window goes into other room‘s balcony. For that reason I would never stay here again. Spend an extra $50 and get a balcony or a few windows. This sucked.

Vernazza was very beautiful and the check-in was pretty easy. The windy roads to the parking lot, located a little above vernazza, were also really fun!
The airco made sure the room was cool quickly. The shuttle service and parking lot were very fast and friendly with their service just like the hotel staff.
The location of Portorosso hotel is not the best, lots of sound from the passing passenger and freight trains (day and night).
The check-out was also not communicated properly when checking in, causing some stress during the morning as no-one was easily contacted by phone, only e-mails were answered and in that regard they were on point.
Another point of improvement is the cleanliness of the shower, overall it was good but the corners could've been cleaned way better. Also some parts of the room were shoddily installed/wearing out. I don't know if that's just the way Italy is, but also certainly a point of improvement. Certainly when you ask your guests for a picture of your credit card as collateral.

The location and the tidiness were the highlight of the room. The small terrace is also really lovely.
Most people go to the 5 Terre during the day but by staying over we understood why some travel guides recommend it. The evening without crowds is simply magic. Vernazza is our favourite of the Cinque. Overall, we found the property expensive but we understand we are paying for this - the stay and the location.
Overall, we recommend it, but the hosts really do need to be more reachable!
The worst part of the experience was the check in. For over a week the host didn't reply to our repeated emails, and even more worryingly, nobody picked up in the phone number they give. We tried at different times on different days. Until the last moment we weren't 100% what was happening. It turned out ok in the end. The person who met us was super friendly but did not come in nor showed us the room. There was no host at the property. After this experience, there didn't seem to be anyone to recur to if we needed anything, but thankfully we did not.
As other things to improve, a kettle with tea or coffee in the room would be helpful, a remote for the TV and more channels ideal, and the electricity came off once (we had to turn it back on at the fuse box).

That there was a roof over our head
This place is a DUMP. the room is depressing….nothing like photos which are deceiving. There was NOT EVEN A PLASTIC OR GLASS drinking cup offered. No coffee pot…terrible wifi connection. Room incredibly small. Bathroom had to walk up 4 very steep steps to reach with no handrail. Roller blind in room broken. Felt like I was in a 1 star hotel in 3rd world country? Only gave one small liquid soap in a little foil pouch per person. Honestly the only good thing I can say is the shower was good with plenty of hot water. Considering we paid over 200 euro per night the value is awful. The prior night we stayed in a competitor room for less money and that place was lovely with a living room, kitchen and very cozy. Take it from me…you will be very disappointed if you rent this place . getting access key to,room was awkward….dealt with a third party contractor who handed us a key, pointed up a stair and said go to room 8…….HOW DARE THEM CHARGE THIS AMOUNT FOR WHAT WAS OFFERED

the room was very humid, there were not hangers in the wardrobe and the bathroom stayed very wet for almost a day after showering, no windows and the extraction fan wasn’t enough.
white blinds on the window which allow light to enter the room early in the morning, very close to the train station which wasn’t the best due to station noise and 24/7 assistant not available. Wi fi information not present in the room. We were not able to reach any assistance during our stay.

There is a self check in option. The room is pretty authentic. There is a power outlet compatible with euro standard.
WiFi wasn't working.

Nothing
Very unprofessional from the beginning until the end !
They asked for my credit card in case if we do some damage in the room…( off course we didn’t )
after we left the place they made a separate illegal charge to my credit card for fake reasons and under a different company name !
Whenever I reached to them to find out more information, the customer service was terrible!
Would never stay here again !!!

Great location right by the train station (albeit up many flights if stairs) and fun decor (themed after Pixar's Luca, which might not be everyone's style but was cute)
Check-in brochure said there would be WiFi, but when there wasn't the staff (contacted through the phone number listed in the booking) basically couldn't do anything except call the property manager(?), who never responded. It was weird that the check in was handled by a company so unconnected to the actual property, and I spent my entire time there feeling like an uninvited guest because of it

very good location. modern and very clean rooms. furnished comfortably and has air conditioning
very happy with stay. could be improved with more rails in bathroom to hang towels, and a kettle and coffee and tea station in room.

great location and very clean.
we wished there were glasses

The room was very difficult to find and the neighbors were very noisy (the wall were too thin and we were hearing everything they were saying).
9.0
Very cold AC. Bang in the middle of everything next to train station. The bed sheets were so silky smooth, and very comfortable. The bathroom was nice and modern.
The stairs to the room especially with heavy luggage. Sometimes the shower was either too hot or too cold, hard to get the medium

Conveniently located literally a stone’s throw from the train station, this room is down a small side street in Vernazza. I had food poisoning when my husband and I arrived here, and the owner and cleaners were exceptionally accommodating, enabling us to check in two hours early.
Because of its proximity to the station, the room can be very loud.

nice area but close enough to train that you hear it.
private spot with good AC and space
train noise. stairs ….. so many stairs

property was very clean and well kept. The bathroom and bedroom were very clean. Hairdryer! The apartment had a fridge. The mattress on the bed was so comfortable!
There were many stairs and while that was something I was aware of, it was challenging. There was very little shampoo or soap - single use for each my husband and myself ( I have a bit longer hair so this was a challenge). The terrace could see into the room next door - little privacy so was not able to fully enjoy sitting on terrace.

It is a room with a bed and a nice bath. It has a small terrace but your neighbor has a window in towards the terrace. It is tinted on half part, but if it is open it can be quiet uncomfortable.
The price one pay for such a room, you expect a lot more. When you pay 270 euros you expect proper soap. Not soap in simple bags, one time soap. You expect everything to be top notch, not the handle to the bathroom fall of when closing it. Your expect a proper TV, not a small screen placed strangely on the wall. You expect proper security, not a pull door with a simple lock and no safe. You expect something extra at this price, but there was no water bottle for us to have, checkout at 10:30, no extra pillows or bedding. Last time I spent that amount I got free beer, checkout at 12:00 and as many pillows as I wanted, proper safety, free bikes and a welcome candy.
So not worth it at this price. Maybe at half or one third of the price.

Nice, clean, bright and modern room. Recently renovated, but in some places in a bit if a hurry. Welcoming balcony with surprisingly comfortable chairs. Close to the train, which was not a problem as far as the noice, but was convenient so you don't have to drag luggage around the city.
Fan in the shower only came on with the light, so moisture was left throughout the stay.

Location, modern, clean, and Patrick.
Steps (more than anticipated), lack of amenities (no glasses in bathroom, mini fridge plugged in beside bed and noisy, sachets of shampoo / shower gel, no tea / coffee facilities).

room was ok, but...
no access with car and just a small parking that was already full. this wasn't written on there internet site.
had to walk 1,5 km with our heavy luggage to the village. there Email to wait at the train station for the staff lady was sent way to late, no service in most parts of the village, so we didn't get it and had no clue where to go. when finally found the staff lady made us take a super long way up the stairs (at least a few hundred). the minute we walked out the hotel we realized that there was a very short and easy way just behind the train station to access the hotel(only about 8 stairs and maybe 300m).
bathroom not clean.
bed very uncomfortable.
we could see into the neighbors room, cause there window was on our balcony.
very expensive for all these negatif points..

Very clean new rooms and bathrooms with aircon.
Quite a few stairs with luggage and because of location the rooms were a bit dark.

Modern, clean and very central. Comfortable bed
All was great

The apartment itself was very modern and comfortable, it was really quite a good size especially considering how compact everything is in that little town. The bed was very large and comfortable, and the bathroom very big with a rainfall shower head. You have a little mini bar fridge and the terrace was just big enough for two people to sit and enjoy the view if the castle and streets below. For the check-in, we messaged the management and they send a guide to meet us at the train station, show us the apartment and give us the keys. Even though it was just a stones throw from the train station, it was really useful since the streets can be a bit tricky as well as getting up to the room itself. Do be aware that there are a considerable amount of quite steep stairs to get to the apartment building as well as up to the room itself, I do not recommend it for travellers with mobility issues or luggage bigger than a carry-on.
We did not enjoy the little terrace much as the window of the neighbouring room opens directly onto it making it very awkward to be stared at by the couple next door! We also had an issue which was not the fault of the property but more something to be aware of. We did not have any water for our first day since the town was apparently doing some waterworks. The cold water returned after some hours, however the hot water remained out until after midnight and we could not shower until the next morning. Not the most pleasant way to end a hot, sweaty day traipsing up and down Cinque Terra!

We had a great visit to Vernazza and enjoyed staying at Pontorosso Rooms. The person met us at the train station and helped with our luggage up the stairs as well. The communication with the host was great and they quickly replied to all emails. I would highly recommend staying here if you plan to use Vernazza as your base point when visiting Cinque Terre.
