Location, boating
Electronic lock on door, pool out of service one day, rushed to leave by cleaning stagf

The location was okay, within walking distance of restaurants.
Clean rooms.
No pool access; beware if you are travelling before July the pool is closed and it is not mentioned on the Booking page at the time of writing.
Unhelpful staff. We called them to have a partial refund since we had reserved there for the pool. They referred us to booking. We talked to booking, and they contacted them, but there was no response. We called them again, and they said they would do it. We never heard back, hence this review.
Kayaks and canoes at your disposition have seen better days. No double kayak. The lifejackets spend their existence outside in the sun, so I am unsure about their integrity.

The room was well appointed and the facilities are plenty: pool (didn’t enjoy it because of the rain), fire pit, garden, kayaks. The room is very small but the little round table and the fridge were very practical.
I wasn’t thrilled by the fact that there is no reception, but the check-in was smooth and there are maintenance staff around in the mornings cleaning the rooms and making sure that the common facilities are all set up. The young cleaning lady was very helpful even if she didn’t speak much English.
Our double room was very small so the double bed is almost up against one wall. There is no night table nor reading lamp on that side which is not practical (I don’t understand why since we both have phones, books, watches…) On the floor there is barely place for two duffle bags so it would have been nice to have hooks somewhere to hang clothes.
The fan in the bathroom makes an awful noise and needs to be replaced.
It is well appointed but it is still a motel: outdoor corridors overlooking the parking area so I found it overpriced at almost 200 us. We were lucky to have the first room by the stairs on the second floor that had a little window with partial view of the lake.

Great location. About a 12 minute walk to the main street. Grocery store just down the street. Good view of the lake.
Only minor inconvenience is the stairs if you have many trips to unload the car. If you have mobility issues, ask for ground floor.

It's a really nice cute little place with amazing views, if you pick the room that states it has views, otherwise you will either see the parking lot or other buildings. We had lake and garden views and they were awesome! Beds are very comfortable, good amenities - we chose the kitchenette, so that helped too. It was a keyless entry but we had no problems with that and no staff on site, but again that didn't bother us and anything we needed was available in the lobby. Overall, a great stay!
Everything was great except when we first got to the room, it was clean but there were towels left in the bathroom from previous guests which were obviously used. I did call about it to report it and they apologized and stated they could drop off more towels or we could get sone from the lobby, which we did. So, apart from that, no complaints. I do think an inside doormat should be added to all the rooms especially when snowing, just so we are not bringing in too much from outside. We put down a (used) towel though so no biggie.
(We were not there for rentals and I think you have to light the fire pit yourself)

The location and easy of access.
Out dated bathrooms, carpets need to be replaced. Shower products could be better.

Location was ideal. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was clean.
As other reviews stated, carpet was filthy. Heater was extremely loud and didn’t shut off on its own after reaching set temp. Even after manually shutting off, the room continued to heat up. Not sure where the heat was coming from. Maybe the room downstairs.

It was so easy to check in,they actually just sent a code for door when room was ready,no lines for checking in,if you need anything it's in the office, just go pick it up,fire pit out back stacked with wood plus the paddleboards, kayaks, and canoes, it would recommend and stay again.
Had to go down to office to get pods for coffee maker as none was in room but honestly I'm jyst filling space in this section

Didn’t keep up with coffee and ice

Location, pool, clean and comfy.
We paid way too much money for what we got, due to it being high compression in town. The rug in our room was quite stained.

Location was good, nice view
We saw no staff at all. No greeting on arrival or staff working anytime in the office to get guidance, info or questions answered. Room was dirty, carpets stained and spotted. Bed was good tho. Bathtub drained very slowly, standing in 2 inches of water by the time shower was over.

Nice place with comfortable bed and great amount of space and privacy. Loved being able to take the canoe out! Nice check in area with water and snacks! Great time overall!
The room needs better lighting other than two small lamps. And a full body mirror. Also our bathroom window was broken and wouldn’t lock.

Great location, the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Complimentary fire pit overlooking the lake created some memorable moments. Close to hiking trails, grocery stores and restaurants.
Despite the good weather, complimentary canoes, kayaks were not available.

the reception is “ virtual “ which means nobody on site but a telephone number answering if you are lucky

Great view and location!
No staff present. Very loud tv next door and ridiculously fluffy pillows made for a less than relaxing night’s sleep. Very small room. No microwave.

we have stayed here several times and we are always thrilled with the service! Overall it’s a fantastic little gem on the edge of town, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

It is on Lake Placid . The location is Close enough to Main Street to walk to Mirror Lake and the Resturant’s and stores. But far away from the crowds if your stay is during a very busy time .
The Placid Bay Hotel is more along the lines of a motel. The check in concept is self reliant, but we never felt without someone to reach out to if we wanted . The day staff we met were very friendly and concerned for the quality of our stay . I choose to stay at Placid Bay for several reasons :
wanted to have a lake and Mountain View ,
the price range for a very popular weekend ,
the small kitchen like area in the room .
There is a small lobby with seating , coffee , and breakfast bars .

Cozy room was clean and just what i needed for some time away. Would love to stay in summer to take advantage of the water front.
Could have used a microwave, but it wasn't a problem for my sort stay.
