The cottage was absolutely charming and perfectly located for everything beautiful Whitby has to offer. It was like home from home and everything you could need was provided. I cannot fault or find any reason whatsoever to say anything negative about this lovely cottage it made for a very enjoyable and memorable stay and we will certainly be booking again in the future. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone considering a trip to Whitby who wants a comfortable private and pleasant stay. The owners have a beautiful well appointed property here which they should be very proud of. Thank you for making our visit so special.
There was nothing to dislike. It was a wonderful place.

Lovely quaint cottage. Location was absolutely perfect for the town, harbour and shops. Kitchen was very well equipped even though we ate out on our 3 nights. The little detail like washing up liquid, dishcloth, tea and sugar etc were appreciated as a lot of places don’t do that.
Booking. Com hadn’t listed a hairdryer so carted mine up there when there was indeed one in the property.
Nowhere to put soap in shower.
Bath towel size is rather small.

Location was fantastic.
The previous occupier must have cooked fish. The kitchen was filled with a heavy fish smell that took two days to go. Other than that it was excellent.

Cosy cottage and a great location just off Baxtergate's main shopping area plus everything else within easy walking distance.
spiral stairs to upper bedroom were a bit hairy.

Steep stairs but have stayed in a few cottages and all seem to be the same.toilet flush didn't work properly

Location was near everything, didn't use much in house as we ate out all the time but house had all you would need.
Stairs to attic room were steep but son used that room so not a problem for us.

The beds were extremely comfy, the seagulls sang us to sleep. I was in the top bedroom, it was like climbing the eiger, but great fun.
Unfortunately 1 of the glasses had a crack in it., The cold water tap in the bathroom was a little temperamental. The water heater turned off on the 2nd day. but we had the best rest ever. The location was 5 star. We loved the micropub within the station. AND an added plus the steam train was running from Whitby, where we caught it with the local school children, usually the steam train only runs from Pickering to Grosmont.

Great location and lots of helpful information about things to do locally in the area.
Shower was quite cold.

Location great
Black out blinds in bedroom would have been advantageous

Lovely quirky cottage well equipped and spotlessly clean. Brilliantly located for the shops .train station beach .harbour and bus station only a couple of minutes walk.
Nothing really the only thing I would say is that the stairs to the top floor bedroom are quite steep my grandkids were okay as they are 12 and 9 but maybe a little challenging for much younger ones. The owners however have put a lockable gate on the top of the stairs.

it’s position couldn’t have been better and it was very quiet.
we couldn’t open the cupboard under the sink to check the equipment manuals but didn’t need them so that was ok. no opening window except in the bathroom.

The cottage on initial arrival was quaint and welcoming however, upon settling into the accommodation we discovered that the bed linens were dirty, body hair and ominous stains coupled with a purple fluff were found in the double bedroom.
The 2nd floor bedroom was, on first inspection adequate and comfortable however, as we were getting our little one ready for bed, we were shocked and appalled to find broken shards of glass littered about the bedroom.
The kitchen and bathroom had seemingly been cleaned before our arrival unfortunately that's were the cleaning had stopped.
The hot water was none existent and we were unable to alter the settings, l had tried to contact the owners to remedy the situation but they were not contactable.
The towels provided were far too small, hand towels only, there were no bath towels at all.
On a positive note, the cottage was ideally located close to all attractions and the beach. Sadly we won't be returning to But 'n' Ben.
The lack of cleaniness.

Really beautifully presented, perfect location. Incredibly well equipped kitchen (better than my own house!) and lovely shower too. Lots of helpful little touches like torches for the night and books. Very very clean. Harbour car park is a 2 minute walk. Cottage is bang in the centre, so ideal location but the square is extremely peaceful. Chippy opposite was amazing! As was fishmonger.
The stairs up to the second bedroom are very steep and tricky for younger children to manage (although there was a gate at the top of the stairs). We ended up bringing our youngest into our bed as he has a tendency of wandering in the night and worked the gate out straight away! No problem for my 7 year old though and the second bedroom was beautiful!

Such a cute cottage and in an incredible location! Literally yards away from everything you could need. The cottage itself has a lot of character and is quirky but also fully modernised with with up to date essentials. Absolutely perfect 🥰
Nothing to not like!
