The only good thing about this cottage was the beds were comfortable
The property hadnt been cleaned when we went to check in at 3pm beds werent made it smelled and inside toilet had feaces stuck to it
3.5
Most comfortable bed ever, central location
Pub beer garden next door and the outdoor seating is right next to the windows so it’s very noisy on a summer day

Good location.
The entrance to the alleyway were the property was wasent clean.

Such a cosy little place. Lovely and clean. Fab location. How easy it was to check in and out. Dog friendly!
The steap stairs
That's about it and I had to think hard for that one

Dirty unsafe and smelly
Poor quality… oven not working PAT tests not carried out since 2013…. Carpets dirty and damaged … lights not working properly in bathroom ….beds smelt of sweaty heads

fantastic location
poor facilities, no terrestrial tv. not enough crockery. No dish clothes. no welcome pack, a pint of milk would’ve been nice

great location, very quirky
3.5
Excellent location, easy to find and access what is a lovely quirky little place
There are a few things that could have been better, cleaning there was tissue and empty loo rolls under the bed and the carpet was a bit grubby with bits of fluff and srones, there were only three forks and wine glasses and the toilet in the ensuite didn't flush. The stairs to the attic room are very steep and uneven so wouldn't be suitable for anyone with joint problems.
3.5
the property was quirky and in a great location; the beds were really comfortable
the stairs were steep but so could be tricky with children
5.0
location to downtown Whitby
problem trying to get terrestrial tv

the log fire was a nice addition
very dangerous unsafe property, should not be allowed to book for children and a death trap in case of fire. The top floor is mouldy and very dangerous. The top of the stairs there is a sheer drop to the bottom, inadequate railing and a child could easily seriously injure themselves. All windows locked, the electrics are above the front door which is the only fire escape and the kitchen is on the ground floor. No windows able to open if there’s a fire it’s a death trap. the cottage is down a small side street with the pubs bins outside the living room window which get emptied very early in the morning so huge bins full of bottles being dragged down a cobbled street at 6am. the beer garden is next to the kitchen window and we had to turn the tv up to drown out the conversation and language

great location, clean and very comfortable. loved the Xmas decorations and the hamper left in the kitchen for us. we had a wonderful time.

nothing
It was claustrophobic. The windows were full of condensation and did not open. It was down a narrow alleyway which was full of large bins of rubbish. It was between two very high brick walls. The toilets didn’t flush properly.

Great location, amazing fire, quirky historical features. Nice little touches such as Christmas hamper. Fantastic property

Self catering with a shared kitchen
More toilet rolls was needed. We had no door code at first. But when we rang the lady, she gave it us straight away and answered the phone quickly too. Lovely couple of days away. Me, my partner and our friends thought it was lovely!

The location was perfect. Its just what we wanted. I liked the way there were tea bags and cooking oil , so as we didnt need to bring the whole kitchen with us.
The flushing mechanism on the en suite toilet wants adjusting. You had to lift the lid sometimes to make it flush. This is not a complaint, just want to draw it to your attention.
Regards, Stefan Irena and Tomasz.

Very clean and comfortable, very well equipped. We all enjoyed a fantastic weekend.
There's not a thing to dislike, I would highly recommend it to family and friends.
3.5
great location and very spacious with two generous sized bathrooms with a shower cubicle in one and bath in the other. Also plenty of living space which was nice even for just the two of us. the bed on first floor was comfortable and the electric heaters worked efficiently. great to have a wood burner but we didn’t need to use it.
the loft bedroom was not usable due to the amount of black mould on the two velux windows. my young son has asthma and it wasn’t safe for him to stay in that bedroom. the property windows on the ground snd first floor also didn’t open to allow ventilation.

Location
It was stated as a 2 bed cottage, we didn't expect the 2nd bedroom to be accessed via a steep set of stairs into a loft area, plus the leak in one of the bathrooms, which caused water to leak through the kitchen ceiling, this has already been discussed with the owner. The dark alley could have had a bit more lighting, especially for the 2 ladies who didn't feel safe when venturing out together in the dark.

Super little cottage close to the harbour and centre of Whitby. Has everything you need for a short or long stay. Ensuite bathroom to main bedroom and separate shower room with loo so no hanging around waiting for others. Well equipped kitchen, fast broadband and a freesat TV. It's a close walk to all local facilities including bars, restaurants, Costa coffee a nearby co-op, taxis and the North York moors railway station. Would definitely book again and with it's super little log burner a real cosy winter getaway.
Stairs to 3rd floor require a sherpa, crampons and a safety harness! Joking apart, they're extremely steep and not for the faint hearted. Definitely not suitable for young children or my partially sighted disabled daughter in this case. This bedroom ended up being my late night excursion to rendezvous with the edge of outer space. It wasn't a major set back or disappointment, just would have been better had it been detailed in description.

Location is excellent. Slap bang central.
There was nothing about this cottage that I didn't like.
3.5
perhaps the best located cottage in Whitby only a few steps from the harbour and all on the flat. A great base from which to explore.
Stairs not for the faint hearted and a bit overlooked by the neighbouring pub garden.
