About this cabin rental
Welcome to My Side of the Mountain!
My Side of the Mountain is named after my favorite childhood book by Jean Craighead George. It is such a great book filled with adventure, mountains, creativity, courage and independence along with sharing with us the beauty of nature.
This is the perfect place for your family or a small group of friends. Enjoy close proximity to Shaver Lake's amenities. Keep your eyes peeled for a deer passing by. Sit on the deck as you gaze at the stars in the crisp mountain air. You will find yourself relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings while spending quality time with family and friends. During vacations, I love to recharge, read a book, experience nature, enjoy good food, eat lots of ice-cream, explore, hike and have deep conversations under the stars.
We are located less than 2 miles from the restaurants of Shaver Lake and just 3.5 miles from the marina. Whether summer, fall, winter, or spring is your favorite time of year, there is always something to do in Shaver.
My Side of the Mountain is a relaxing mountain getaway on a beautiful lot. The cabin is a tri-level 3-bedroom, 3 baths with plenty of space to stretch. A fully equipped kitchen provides a user-friendly space to cook a meal. A washer and dryer in the cabin are perfect for sandy beach towels in the summer and for damp ski clothes in winter. The cabin has Wi-Fi and 2 flat screens that allows you to get cozy with a good movie next to the fireplace! Both TVs are equipped with a ROKU so you can connect to Netflix, Hulu Amazon Prime or other (not equipped with cable TV). The cabin boasts a large deck with table and chairs in the summertime, where you can enjoy a good cup of hot chocolate or coffee in the early mornings. The deck also has a new propane BBQ so that you can enjoy the night stars and amazing summer weather while you BBQ.
The cabin has three bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Bedroom 1 located upstairs has a king bed. Upstairs on the loft area are a full bed and a twin bed. Bedroom 2 located on the main level has a king bed. Bedroom 3 downstairs has a king bed and a twin bed. We provide linens and towels.

Very nice cabin, close to town, but away from hustle and noise.

Overall we had a great time, property was very clean and in a good location a short distance from the the town of Shaver. Very quiet neighborhood. There are a few items that should be addressed though: The propane tank for the BBQ was empty and we had to get it refilled in town. BBQ was very dirty and the grease bucket is full. Both of the Keurig Coffee Pot don’t work, they won’t turn on.

We decided to return to this cozy cabin after our last stay. It is clean, comfortable, and spacious. Perfect for two families of four. Anne is very helpful and easy to communicate with. We would love to return again in the future.

Our experience at this home was great! We love the location of the cabin, just minutes away from town and the lake. The home itself has plenty of plenty of bed for larger families to stay. Thank you to the Host who accommodated our stay, making check in and check out easy for us. Overall enjoyed our stay and we were happy about our cabin choice!

We found our stay in this home to be exactly what we were looking for, and the listing is pretty spot-on. In fact, the only differences are upgrades to the amount of bedding; as two of the beds pictured as single twin beds, are now twin bunk beds. All beds were comfortable for our family, and the living room & dining room furniture were also comfortable and met our needs. There are several games, books, and puzzles to enjoy ... in addition to the outdoor space on the patio. Town is just a short drive (maybe 2 miles) away. We didn't need anything from Anne during our stay, but she informed us we could reach out to her for questions, etc. and she reached out to us confirming we had the access info and wished us a safe drive home. She is very hospitable.
The home has three floors with a bedroom on each floor, and a twin bunk and a full size bed in the loft space on the 3rd floor. The kitchen was stocked with the cooking utensils and cookware we needed and some seasonings, tea, and coffee. Check-in and check-out was easy and we wish we could've stayed longer. We will recommend this home to friends/family and would love to stay there again. One note to future visitors, we arrived in the dark, and our map kept saying the home is on the right side of the street, but in actuality, the home is on the left side - we were using google maps. We had a great 4th of July holiday here!

The cabin is great for a large group. Plenty of sleeping space! Our host was very attentive and the neighborhood is really nice. However, it was not very clean which is the most important thing to me. There was food on the floor of the kitchen and pantry closet. Chips and food behind the couch and dead bugs in every window sill. I wiped off the stovetop before we used it and there was food stuck on it. We went to make coffee in the provided coffee maker and the pot was not only filthy, but cracked, so unusable. The kitchen faucet was broken and only provided super hot water. The cold didn’t work at all. The only heat beside the fireplace (which works great to heat the house but takes awhile) are two wall heaters and one was broken. We were there during the big blizzard so initially it was pretty cold, but warmed up eventually. Overall, the space is good and bathrooms were pretty clean which made things a little better. And, the beds were soooooooo comfy! All linens were really nice too! And again, our host was lovely and got someone to plow so we could get our cars out to leave. Otherwise, we’d still be there! We were very grateful for that.

My family and I enjoyed a three-day weekend at this cozy home. It was our first time there and would definitely stay there again. A large table for meals together. We spent a day at the snow park and then another just right outside the door. Three levels makes it helpful to separate the group for younger kids and older to visit. Very nice beds. Thank you so much.

I want to thank you for being a very gracious and helpful host. My family and I were able to spend the holidays together in your beautiful home and made many memories. The home itself was spacious for my large family, and had many things to keep us busy. My children enjoyed going to the nearby snow park and the adults enjoyed the many hiking trails. Even during the snowfall we were able to connect and stay warm with the many games you had provided. Our annual family trip to the mountains is a highlight each year for my family and staying here was a great experience. We appreciate the attention you put to the many details in the cabin and are very grateful for your many updates amidst the winter storm. We definitely had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this space to our loved ones. Happy New Year!

Great cabin
My family, with two toddlers, stayed here for a long weekend and loved it, mostly due to the great communication and hospitality of the host. Check-in was super easy. The cleaners didn’t do a great job with cleaning some areas of the house, but I’m pretty OCD when traveling with toddlers esp in these times. For most adults who don’t crawl on the floors and put hands in mouth, the place is certainly tidy and clean enough. Owner is very generous with supplies ie hand soaps, dish soaps, dish and laundry detergent, paper towels and toilet paper etc. There was no shampoo/conditioner but we didn’t expect any as that’s not typical of VRBO homes. There were plenty of towels, comfortable beds and good quality bedding and pillows etc. No central heating but the wood burning fireplace actually did heat up the entire cabin very well so that we didn’t need the space heaters in the room most of the time. Wood is provided. There are enough pots/pans/dishes in the kitchen to make full meals, but unlike other places we’ve stayed, where previous guests have left basic cooking supplies like oils and seasonings, there were none here so we did have to run to the store for that. Our kids enjoyed the cute dollhouse and the snow play right in the backyard. The owner brought us propane (and a bottle of wine!) after we discovered there was no propane for the grill. She was so nice about it and most people prob wouldn’t be grilling in the winter but my husband had his heart set of grilling the steaks we brought :) Overall, it was a very comfortable stay with plenty for space for one family but can definitely accommodate 2 as there’s a spacious bedroom with king sized bed on each of the 3 levels for enough separation and privacy at night. We felt like we were staying at the home of a friend and would definitely stay here again.

Just what we needed!
Had to book at last minute due to cancellation of another rental due to snow impact. Was easy to book, similarly priced to our previous booking, but bigger house. Nice location quiet street. Plenty of space on 3 levels, awesome wood burning fireplace and plenty of good beds. Was just our family but could accommodate 2 families easily. Anne was great in communication. Would stay again!
