The design of the house is fantastic. It includes 2 of every appliance (washer/dryer, dishwasher, range, microwave, and refrigerator/freezer). There is an elevator which avoids carrying luggage up and down the stairs. The location is directly on the beach in a location that is less crowded than many other parts of Gulf Shores. The swimming pool is located on the second floor (beach level) with a view out onto the beach. There are plenty of bedrooms, beds, and bathrooms. I would rent this house again.

Overall, this house and the responsiveness from Vacasa was abysmal. The house was pretty, but needed a more thorough clean. On our first day, a breaker tripped and we could not get it to stay flipped. It took over 24 hours to get someone from Vacasa to come look at the issue, and one of the bedrooms didn’t have power during that entire time frame. The blender that comes in the house caught on fire, and we had a different outlet spark and turn what was plugged in black. None of the outlets in the bathrooms work. Overall the house had major electrical issues. Not to mention, an entire large beam holding the boardwalk is missing the bottom of it like it was snapped in half, so even if the boardwalk is “in service” it’s dangerous to walk on and does not feel safe at all. I would not recommend a stay at the Blind Melon.

The house is great. Each bedroom had it own bathroom which was great for a 8 guy golf getaway.

Loved the view, quiet area of Gulf Shores. Hot tub with small pool. Comfortable beds.

As others have said, the boardwalk is not accessible. The company claims this was on the listing when we booked, but I don't think I would have missed that since we were specifically looking for a place with a boardwalk (it is on the listing currently).
Walking to the beach isn't difficult for most people, but for the elderly or anyone with mobility issues, it can be a challenge. We had 3 elderly people with us, and they had to take a different route to the beach to avoid going over the steep sand dunes.
One member of our party stepped on a 4 inch nail, and it went completely through his foot as he was walking the path that leads you to the beach (right next to the broken boardwalk). Beware of this, and always wear shoes on the property. We ended up taking a metal detector along the path and picked up 40 more 4 inch nails that were buried in the sand. We informed management and they sent someone out to pick up more. Beware of this as this could ruin someone's vacation.
The pool heater was not working when we arrived, but we were able to get it working ourselves. The hot tub did not work, and we could not get it working. The place is mostly clean, but we found rodent droppings under a couple of the sinks on the main level.
The location is great with just a very short drive or long walk to restaurants.

This house worked well with our large group. The kitchen area specifically was well-suited for big gatherings with two refrigerators, ovens, microwaves and dishwashers. There was limited seating in the living room, and the three TVs were very difficult to figure out. The floors were sandy and not clean when we arrived, and both washers and both dryers were extremely moldy and gross. The house was a little bit run down and I was surprised at the apparent lack of upkeep. The biggest disappointment was the broken boardwalk. We chose this house specifically for easy beach access because we have a handicapped family member, and we were not told beforehand about the unusable boardwalk. When I happened to see it on the booking info the week before our arrival, I asked why we weren’t informed so we could make other accommodations if we needed to, and the only answer I got was that the information was listed when we booked. I finally got an answer as to when the damage occurred and it was AFTER we booked, so there was no way we could have known about the damage. I asked if there was any way we could switch houses or get a discount or even an early check in since we paid for something we weren’t getting, and Vacasa wouldn’t do anything for us. It was obvious that they didn’t care since they had our money and we were stuck as the cancellation/refund window had passed. I was very disappointed in their lack of transparency and what I consider to be basically dishonest.

My family and I loved this house. The elevator is a BIG plus. We did have trouble with the hot tub, but was refunded for the inconvenience. If they ever get the boardwalk fixed, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

The Blind Melon delivered a wonderful vacation for our 4 generations of family! The house was setup perfectly for a large group. The bathrooms attached to each bedroom allowed privacy for everyone. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of dishes, silverware and cooking equipment for a group twice the size of ours. The porches are a great place to sit and take in the view and the pool is the perfect size for kids to play and adults to lounge. We'll definitely be back!

The house has great space for a large, extended family. Once the boardwalk is fixed, that will cut down on all the mess in the house. The house is showing it's age, but would be easier to care for with basic supplies, so we went to the store and purchased them and left them behind for the next guests. I hope they kept them there because that was the intention.
We received polite responses to inquiries, but their answers were very delayed, if received at all. They may have had too many homes they were juggling, but that shouldn't be a surprise from their booking records and they may want to consider increasing staff during peak season.
It was a great trip, and we would recommend the house to large groups.

This place had a lot of problems, and none of these problems was mentioned in the listing when I booked I even sent an email before High arrived to see if some of the things could be fixed before I got there and none of them was fixed. Pool had several leaks it was very dirty, hot tub heater hasn’t worked in three or four years. The pool person told me that door latch on two of the doors was broken. One of the refrigerators freezer was defrosting instead of freezing there was mold around some of the ceilings and around vents on the third and second floor . diaper. Some of the beds was very hard I had asked for a reimbursement for another place to stay in the future if I couldn’t do that because none of the stuff mentioned when I booked

It had been 10 years since my husband passed and all but one grandson and his family were able to make the trip so we were 22 people. The kitchen and bedroom set up was perfect for our group size. Unfortunately i picked this house because of the beach access as one of my grandsons is in a brace that makes it difficult to walk in sand. I was not informed the boardwalk to the beach was not usable in advance and the property made no effort to address the alternative access. The step off the cement was too deep for most to use. other properties in this area have all addressed their boardwalk issues in addition to clearly raking the sand access. This property did not and several people stepped on broken glass and plastic on the walkway over the dune. in addition the 4th floor balcony door handle was broken and reported on day one. On day three a handiman came and screwed it back on and the first time it was used it came right off again.

This house was great for our spring break trip - lots of room for our adults and kids. We loved how spacious the kitchen area was and all of the duplicate appliances everywhere. Unfortunately, we had lots of disappointments with missing kitchen essentials, broken door handles, garbage service, ice machine that broke, and both fridges/freezers breaking during our trip. We spent a lot of time trying to get responses from Vacasa and were frustrated with that. Hoping more attention to maintenance and responsiveness will happen for future guests.

We had a group of 18 stay for a week. The house was great. Having two of everything in the kitchen was very helpful. The beach, pool, and hot tub kept all the kids(and adults) busy. The only issue we had was the boardwalk being closed. We should have been made aware of this when we booked. It has been closed since the last hurricane and they don't plan to fix it till 2024. All the other boardwalks have been fixed. Overall, we had a great time.

The house did sleep 30+ as advertised, Kitchen was awesome and having a washer and dryer on each floor was a big plus!
We had six people in our party who are handicapped and the main reason for renting this house with an elevator and wooden walkway to the beach. When we arrived Sun 5/7 we noticed the walkway was broken and boarded up. Call management company right away. Received an email saying someone would contact me. No one contacted me till we checked out and was on our way home. This person was extremely rude and said we could go to the beach via walking over the sand dune. I explained one was in a wheelchair and it is impossible to push over the dunes. I’ve rented a lot of beach homes through VRBO but not VACASA and this customer experience was awful!

House is a well designed 8 bedroom home on the beach with all bedrooms on 3rd and 4th floors and away from kitchen and living room activity. The beach in front of the home has significant erosion so the boardwalk is collapsing. The hot tub doesn't work and the pool keeper told me it hasn't in over one year. Both of these items should be disclosed in their advertising. Upon check in, most surfaces were not clean and sticky feeling, the home was very sandy both in the kitchen/living area as well as all bedrooms. Also, there were broken bottles at the end of the driveway where we had to enter the sand and to get to the beach which caused a cut in one of our adults. The manager told me that a group of college students had recently stayed there and had really "trashed " the home. That maybe true but I should have been compensated for that in some way but the manager refused to listen to my complaints. Regardless, my family cleaned the place and enjoyed our stay and definitely left the home cleaner than we found it.

I was contacted 15 minutes before check in to say the group before us had done a lot of damage to the home and the pool which had to be drained. The pool took 3 days to fill up. There was glass still all in the bottom of the pool and on the board walk, that we cleaned out ourselves. The house was still not clean to a rental standards. The boardwalk was broken and could not be used to get to the beach. The property manager did his best to make things right but should have let us know on Friday when the prior group left of all the damage and offered us another place to stay. We will not use this company again.

We stayed at the Blind Melon to have Thanksgiving with a large family. The kitchen with the double everything was perfect.

We lioved the kitchen. Traveling with a large family it was so nice and convenient to have 2 of each of the kitchen appliances and such a spacious eating area. The extra ice maker was also very nice We Loved the elevator and also having a large washer and dryer on each of the bedroom floors The swimming pool and the hot tub were nice except for the fact that the heater in the hot tub did not work the entire time we were there. Hopefully it got fixed for the next group that came in after us. The walkway made it very nice to get back & forth to the Beach.
The worst part of our whole stay was that the Beach in front of the The Blind Melon was pretty much gone during our whole stay. Not sure what happened? But we pretty much had no beach in front of the house and had to walk a good ways down the Beach to set up our chairs and were asked to move a few times because we were in front of other houses where other people wanted a Beach also That was very inconvenient for everyone. So, our Beach front house was more like an Ocean front house.

We were a multi generational group and everyone loved the house. It has a wonderful layout for families. The pool was a big hit with the younger crowd. Views were great and the weather was perfect.
The few questions/ concerns we had for Vacasa were answered and responded to very promptly.
Team was courteous & professional; from the staff who answers the calls to the technician that came to the house for a minor repair of sliding door handle.
The house was very clean; well stocked; and generous in size.
We would definitely stay again !!
Thanks Vacasa for making this special trip a good memory for all of us !!

The Blind melon was as advertised. Great bedrooms, huge kitchen and dual washer and dryer made it ideal for our family’s week long stay. Our location was ideal, not too busy but close to the inlet. Having the pool & direct access to the beach allowed everyone plenty to do.

Gulf Shores home
Great experience the Hot Tub does not work but the pool was amazing! There is not much beach in front of the house but had enough room for a tent. The walk way out to the beach was a life saver! The elevator was nice for luggage and moving in and out. Loved an ice maker in the kitchen! The 3 TVs was very confusing. Overall the home needs some upkeep from just being a rental but I would definitely stay here again. Having a washer and dryer on both floors was awesome as well.

We has a sibling vacation, there was 6 adults and one small child. We all needed our own room and bath. The home we were going to get, 6 bedroom 6 1/2 bath, was taken out of circulation due to repairs. We choose the Blind Mellon with the help of the Vacasa staff, it was a fabulous house.
The kitchen was to die for two of everything, Microwave, stove, refrigerator and an ice maker that made more ice than you could ever use. The kitchen was stocked to the brim everything needed to cook and serve food for a lot of guest. The guys went fishing and we had a big fish fry. Our private pool and jacuzzi was wonderful. The rooms were great, two rooms had decks over looking the beach and ocean. What was really cool were the two bunk bed rooms. they had queen beds top and bottom with regular steps so adults could sleep in them if needed. The home had 4 levels the elevator was the best, all of us are seniors. The homes we looked at had elevators but they were not working. There were three large TV's down stairs in the great room which worked well. We had an issue with the TVs in the bedrooms, they were very small, we are a TV family and go to bed with them. Some of the remotes were missing and some didn't work. The property manager came out his self and got us in business, we were very appreciative. He also had the grill cleaned.
The house and the superior customer service, we had a wonderful time! If we vacation in Gulf Shores AL we will be looking to stay again. I can't say enough about the Vacasa staff that helped us find this house when we could not stay in the one we had reserved. Vasaca staff, property Manager and the Home are all 5 stars!

Good space with cosmetic issues
We had a large family group ranging from 18 months old to 70 years old. Each bedroom had its own bathroom and we loved having the two bunk rooms. The kitchen was not well stocked with cooking utensils, measuring cups, etc but did have a good many plates/bowls/eating utensils. We really appreciated having the double refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens and microwaves. The three TVs were hard to figure out with no instructions to follow, same for hot tub. There were certain breakers that kept tripping even with no extra appliances plugged in-easy fix at the breaker box, but annoying. The sliding glass door overlooking the beach was broken and boarded up which blocked the beautiful view from the kitchen and main living area. Lots of stairs but did have an elevator for those who needed it. Overall, this was a great house with lots of extras. We would definitely stay here again but would hope that those cosmetic issues would be fixed.
