About this cottage rental
Four Seasons is a private, secluded lakefront cottage located on the relatively undeveloped 75 acre Pickerel Pond (Perley on maps) located in the beautiful lakes region of Denmark Maine. Perfect for couples and small families, you will find a quiet, peaceful, and intimate lake experience surrounded by Maine’s finest natural sights and sounds, augmented by the undeveloped nature of the lake and the privacy of your own sandy beach within feet of your backdoor. Beautiful lake views and sounds of nature abound here.
Four Seasons is a single level ranch style cottage built in 1955. Our family purchased the cottage in 1968 from the original owners as a summer lake house retreat and have been enjoying and renting successfully for over 50 years. The main feature is the large open concept living area with brick fireplace and large picture window providing expansive views of the lake. A large farm-house style table and bench seating made by local craftsmen from locally harvested pine in the 1950s provides ample seating and entertainment areas. The sandy beach is fairly wide and shallow and drops off very gradually, while the adjacent waterfront deck provides comfortable seating and great views of the lake as you enjoy your morning coffee, lunch, or evening beverage.
Sleeping quarters include 2 private bedrooms and 2 bunk style beds in the main living room area.
Cottage has been continuously improved upon and updated under our family’s ownership to provide reliable year-round access and has up-to-date mechanicals.
Explore the pristine surrounding lakefront and all of its aquatic wildlife with our small rowboat (included with rental). Great freshwater fishing is right at your fingertips. Pickerel Pond is well known for its abundancy of largemouth bass, pickerel, perch, and sunfish.
Shopping and dining available in nearby Bridgeton (11 miles). Close to North Conway (less than 30 miles). Close to downtown Portland (approximately 30 miles).
PLEASE NOTE: Linen service is NOT INCLUDED with our standard rental but is available for an additional fee. Linen fees are as follows: $200/ week up to 4 guests. Each additional guest $50/week. Please contact owner if interested in this service when booking.
ADDITIONAL NOTE: Summer weekly rentals are Saturday to Saturday.
Additional availability: Our adjacent cottage, Woodhaven, may also have availability, please contact us for additional inquires. See VRBO listing 2675578

Wonderful property on a peaceful pond. Had all the needed amenities. Very clean. Not musty. Windows overlook the pond. Great rural location. Recommend for couples needing to get away or a family looking for fun in the water.

The cabin is really roomy, and has everything. Really, everything! The kitchen is stocked with every dish and pan/pot etc. Coffemaker is great. The drinking water is perfect. The views out the plentiful big windows are glorious, We kept the lights off at night and could see the stars. The beds are comfortable, and everything was fresh and clean. From the wonderfully situated deck right on the water, we watched the visiting great blue heron, and the loons (who we decided were living on the next lake). At night we heard owls and watched bats. The pond had hardly any people around, and there are trails all around, lots of habitat for birds and creatures... there was a snapping turtle, snake, fox, deer, turkeys, and evidence of moose (but we didn't meet any in person). Heard or saw goldfinches, pileated woodpecker, chickadees, hairy woodpecker, pine warbler, nuthatches, phoebe, vireos, ravens, and the hummingbirds who came to live with us for 2 weeks to enjoy the feeders we brought. Many beautiful hikes nearby---Pleasant Mountain views are great. Host was prompt, willing and helpful with questions. Cabin is all on one level, and steps to the water/deck have handrails all over. Easy launching place for kayaks right by the cabin. Delightful!

Enjoyed the cabin on the lake., Spent time relaxing on the dock mornings and evenings. We took our kayaks and explored and fished on the lake. We were a bit surprised that there were no blankets or covers for the beds. We had our own sheets and had a few of our own blankets which we were glad we had. Often blankets are supplied by the hosts. Overall the experience was positive.

Don't hesitate, book it now!
It was as if we rented the entire lake, not just the cottage. The only other people we saw or heard were the next door unit renters and that wasn't very often. Even with the unit right next door there is amazing privacy! It was myself, my husband and our children (14yrs and 12yrs). We brought our 4 Kayaks with us and my husband spent loads of time fishing and caught MANY Bass and some Pickerel at all times of the day - not just dawn and dusk. The water was the perfect temperature for swimming and that's what my son spent hours doing with a mask and kickboard. Lovely sunsets every night made for some great photos while out on the water.
From inside the cabin it almost feels like a house boat because you are so close to the water. The long farmer's table was perfect for us. We had a running Monopoly game going on one side which left plenty of room for dining and sitting on the other. The cabin was well stocked with board games for entertainment. I didn't pay close enough attention to the listing to realize there was no television available, however, it turned out to be a positive in the end. Don't worry, wi-fi worked great so there is access to outside entertainment if needed. We played lots of music on the available sound system and even listened to some audio books to round out the nights together. My 12 year old didn't even want to leave the house most days to go on excursions, he loved the location and nature access so much.
Hannaford is about 20 minute ride away but if you stock up you only need one trip. We spent our days in Naples, Windham, tubing the Saco River (family favorite), North Conway shops and Portland - all within in hour of the cabin.

A uniquely private lake front without motors or crowds - a taste of Maine the way life used to be!

Quiet, comfortable stay
We wanted a peaceful getaway for ourselves and our dog Annie, and Four Seasons delivered. The cabin is rustic yet comfortable, and the view from the living room is stunning. Frank was an amiable host, attentive but not intrusive, and the setting is simply gorgeous. The pictures do not do it justice, as is often the case, but in our experience especially so here. The owners live nearby, and they own another camp on the other side of Four Seasons, but there is enough space and forest between all three that there we hardly noticed. We did a great deal of cooking while there, and the kitchen was stocked very well with everything we needed. Also, we had to do some work while there and the internet was impressive, even to the point that we were able to stream (both at once,) while sitting on the dock down by the water. The dock was obviously recently added (or updated,) and it really made the stay special. Most days we were able to both have our coffee in the morning on it while watching herons and cormorants, and enjoy the afternoon sun with a glass of wine. We would definitely stay again.

The Four Seasons Cottage
This is a gem. Mystical, peaceful, just right for a swim or a short row in a canoe or kayak.
Cottage is very comfortable . We had three adults for our stay.
Will be back... to visit the morning mist, the call of the Loons, the resident blue Heron and the clearest water.

Golden Pond
In my lifetime, I've enjoyed summers throughout the north woods from Moosehead Lake to the mountain lakes of the Adirondacks, the White Mountains and way too many other lakes in the woods in between to mention. Saying that, this was the best accommodations yet. Our living room had huge windows that provided a lakeside Vista like no other, a panoramic view that was mind-boggling. It was like looking at the highest definition flat-screen TV of untouched, unblemished nature at it's best. The cabin faces west so we saw these beautiful golden sunsets each and every night. And the privacy and location of the cabin in relation to the pond is literally steps away at your disposal. This is a honey spot that rivals anywhere I've ever ventured in the north woods. My only regret, one week is just not enough to take in this beautiful place. It's a golden pond with clean water, bath water, I miss it already.

Great vacation
The cottage is very quaint and the location is beautiful, right next to the lake and away from much civilization - exactly how we wanted it. Frank was very accommodating and ready to help out with suggestions for places to visit and other general information. I would visit again if possible.

Great location, great owner
The cabin is right on a beautiful, quite pond and is very private. Everything was sparkling clean and neat when we arrived, and the owner, who lives next door, stopped by to make sure we were comfortable. Nice little sunning dock. Highly recommended.

almost 40 Years of renting this cabin
Our family has been renting this cabin for close to 40 years plus the cabin next door. In fact 30 years ago my wife and I had our honeymoon in the cabin next door. There is no place that compares to the peace and quiet of this pond. The owner (Frank) is fantastic and responds to any problems that come up. He is continually updating the cabins such as the addition of WiFi. Renting both cabins allows for our annual extended family reunion. We come from Florida, Maryland, Ohio, Massachusetts, and Vermont to enjoy beautiful Denmark. Bring lots of books and an air mattress. The lack of motor boats allow us to fall asleep on the air mattress and drift across the pond. Nice 3/4 mile swim across the lake and back. Prepare to leave the busy work world behind.

My family has vacationed here for at least 12 years.....A wonderful vacation camp for families with young or older children. Well maintained, clean camp with 2 private bedrooms and 2 bunk beds in the living area. (Our children loved the bunks!) Fully equipped clean kitchen with new appliances keeps meal costs under control. Shopping in Bridgton is 20 minutes away with lots to offer. The camp has a small private beach with shallow swimming area for children and sitting deck at the water's edge. An outdoor bar-b-que is really handy in the summer. (Also, wild blueberry picking in August on the property!) I love the fishing.....largemouth bass in excess of 2 lbs is common all season. The pond is perfect for kayaks because it's usually pretty calm and no motor boats!.....A 2 person row boat is available at the camp for a small fee. I take my electric trolling motor to help. We see loons, heron, deer and other water loving friends during our stay. The camp has a phone line for incoming and local calls for safety and convenience plus the owner lives just a minute away, just in case.
