About this farm stay rental
Our recently renovated1860’s farmhouse, on 95 acres abutting the banks of the Ottauquechee River, is 3 miles from historic Woodstock Village across the Lincoln Covered Bridge on a dead end dirt road. We have a small vineyard in the front field and it's a 2 minute saunter to our family's self-serve organic produce farm stand in the lower field. The vineyard produces organic method verjus. A five minute stroll across the covered bridge will bring you to The Lincoln Inn & Restaurant, considered a culinary destination. There are many excellent restaurants within easy driving distance: Simon Pearce, Cloudland Farm, Prince & Pauper, Woodstock Inn, Sante, Mangalista, 506 on the River, Worthy Kitchen, Melaza Bistro, Quechee Club, Kedron Inn, Barnard Inn and many more, including a cute little cocktail bar, Au Comptoire in downtown Woodstock.
Woodstock Village provides great shopping, with spa and fitness options at the Woodstock Inn & Resort. Numerous outdoor activities nearby include walking, hiking, biking, tubing, swimming, kayaking, hunting, fishing, golfing, tennis, paddle and pickle ball, riding, skating, sledding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, cross country and downhill skiing. The farmhouse is 20 minutes to the Killington Skyeship, 40 minutes to Okemo, and 15 minutes to Saskadena Six (formerly Suicide Six). A 10 minute drive to the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Park provides trails for walking and cross country skiing, wagon and sleigh rides, as well as educational activities at the Billings Farm Museum (great for kids).
There are multiple music and theater venues within easy driving distance, including Feast & Field in Barnard, Artistree in Pomfret, concerts on The Green and East End Park in Woodstock, Comedy in Bridgewater, Northern Stage in White River Jct, Lebanon Opera House and several theaters at HOP in Hanover, to name a few.
Beer, spirits and wine lovers can explore the local craft breweries, distilleries, wineries and cider makers in the area: Long Trail Ale, Harpoon, Upper Pass, Vermont Spirits, Whistlepig, Silo, La Garagista, and Fable Farm Fermentory to list a few.
Our farmhouse features a kitchen with updated appliances including a new double oven with a 5 burner stove top, original wide board floors, a two person soaking tub, an antique dining table that can expand from seating 4 to seating 8 or more, a sitting porch and fire pit overlooking the vineyard and several acres of field, perfect for star gazing. Guests may walk, snow shoe (we have 4 pair for your use), or cross country ski the fields and old logging roads up the hill, hunt the property during legal seasons, or tour the produce garden and explore or fish along the banks of the Ottauquechee River. The upstairs middle bedroom and bath each boast a slanted Vermont window (aka witch windows in folklore). The downstairs bedroom french doors open onto the lawn and provide vineyard views.
We support solar panels in an array monthly through SunCommon to offset our carbon footprint; we use ecologically safe cleaning products and are always on the lookout for alternatives to single use containers such as laundry soap sheets vs large plastic tubs for detergent. We have a system set up for composting, recycling and separating food scraps from the landfill (per VT law).
Please note: The farm and vineyard are worked by me and my family and occasionally we have outside assistance. There will be days when people will be in the vineyard, accessing the basement and the barn, to carry out tasks. Guests should consider this a "Farm Stay" and are welcome to learn about our operations and join in or just observe agricultural activities if desired. Classes in cooking with verjus and basic organic methods will be offered by appointment. Guests at the vineyard house are asked to be cautious when walking through the vineyard: uneven ground, rocks and holes, trellis wires and anchor wires extending from the trellis end posts are trip hazards. Wires are marked with bright yellow for safety, but walking in the vineyard after dusk is discouraged.
If you wish to bring dogs to the property, you will need to bring a crate. Your pup must stay in the crate anytime you leave it alone in the house. If you take your pet outside, it is wise to keep them on a leash. In addition to the circumstance that people walk the road with their dogs, there are numerous temping scents to follow everywhere (hedgehogs, porcupines, skunks, raccoons, deer, moose and bear). Deer may be dropping fawns in spring. If dogs chase deer anytime of the year, the game warden may shoot the dog. Protect your wonderful pets and help them be less anxious by following these rules.

My friends and I enjoyed our long weekend stay in the beautiful town of Woodstock at Sharen’s comfortable, historic house just outside of town. It was charming, clean and spacious. The four of us each had our own space as well as gathering areas in the well equipped kitchen, living room and front porch. Great place to gather!

We were very comfortable in Sharen’s lovely farmhouse. Clean linens, nice beds, large kitchen, plenty of space both inside and outside for our 2 kids and 2 dogs. Great location—we loved walking down to the river every morning to wade and collect rocks. Easy to get to downtown Woodstock, Quechee, White River Junction, Stockbridge. Delightful!

We rented the Vineyard house for an extended period as we ski Killington. The house is charming, comfortable and big enough to accommodate our 2 adult children and their significant others. Sharen and Mike were wonderful hosts! We will return to the Vineyard house for sure!

We had a simply lovely stay from start to finish. This home was immaculately clean while cozy and warm. Communication with Sharen went above and beyond to insure that we were comfortable and knew all about local spots and restaurants. We followed many of her restaurant and venue suggestions. All were wonderful!! At my request, the host stopped by to talk about the vineyard and their Verjus. I can’t wait to try my bottle! Next time (and there certainly will be!), we plan to cook in one night. With the amazing farmers market down the road and extremely well appointed kitchen we look forward to it! One of my favorite stays ever.

This lovely, charming home was just as described. It was fully appointed with everything we needed for 4 adults, a toddler and a preschooler. Great bathrooms, superb kitchen, lots of communal seating areas. The outdoor setting was breathtaking and to top it off, you approach on a wooden bridge!

My wife and I along with our 3 adult kids and their spouses had a family wedding to attend, so we booked this listing. The house and property were amazing and as advertised. It rained off and on all weekend, but there were ple ty of board games, cards, and a Smart TV to keep us all occupied. The owner provided a property "Guidebook" that was extremely detail oriented and full of helpful and essential information. I would definitely book this location again.

Our host, Sharen, was communicative, welcoming and thorough. On arrival we were greeted by a hand written welcome note. A guest book welcomed us to the details of this cozy property as well as things to do in the Woodstock area. The property and vineyard is manicured and spacious. Each room in the house is a mix of lovely antiques with modern pieces. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped and I enjoyed cooking here. A short ride to Woodstock center provides hours of fun and options. The area all around Woodstock is some of the most scenic to be found in New England. Vineyard House is the ideal retreat while in Vermont. We plan to return again next season!

Sharen is a wonderful host. We so enjoyed learning about her vineyard and verjus. Honestly, when I come back to Woodstock this is where I want to stay. We also enjoyed walking along the dirt road to the river. We were there during a heat wave, luckily the house cooled off at night. Finally, the weather broke with rain s and finally a beautiful rainbow.

We selected this beautiful home as part of our vacation to reset our hectic lives. It was our home base as we explored the area for 1 week & celebrated over 4th of July. We didn’t realize how peaceful all the acres would be, waking up to all the birds, fireflies at night, space for 3 kids to run around & explore, s’mores, enjoying morning coffee outside on the patio. We could see most of the fireworks from the fire pit from the comfort of the house. One day was pretty warm (reached around 87) but with 1 upstairs bdrm with ac unit, several fans in house & 2 other window fan units it kept the house circulated. The rest of the days were nice & cool. The house is CLEAN ! Huge soaking tub was perfect after our long hike. The house is spacious, sizable bedrooms, very comfy master mattress, comfy red sofa, fine antiques. Kitchen is well supplied, made it easy to cook daily meals for our family of 5. We really enjoyed our brief company with Sharen & learning about the vineyard. There was nothing we needed during our stay, since it’s well stocked & all you need is to enjoy the peace, quiet this property provides. Very close to grocery stores, hiking, trails. Thanks for such a wonderful stay Share !! Until next time ….

Our group came to run a half marathon and escape our busy lives for a weekend. This property is so very peaceful and a step back in time. We saw fox, deer and fell asleep to the sound of crickets. A short walk gets you to a covered bridge and creek to wade in. It reminded me so much of a relatives house I used to go to as a child. The house was very clean and had everything you could need. Sharen was a very gracious host and answered any questions we had. I highly recommend this property for a getaway. I should say that though it is in a very country setting it is just a few miles from Woodstock.

Lovely abode in the vineyard!
This little gem in the vineyard Is an old traditional farmhouse which has been completely remodeled to suit our modern tastes with plenty of old world charm preserved. Large wooden beams grace the dining room and living room while a quaint fireplace in a large hearth warms the kitchen’s lounge area with a satisfying amount of heat. The squeaky clean kitchen made food preparation fast and easy with modern appliances. The linens were clean on all four of the large beds and the accompanying bathrooms were spacious and comfortable. I would highly recommend any stay at this house, you will be comfortable, pampered, and well cared for.

Great winter retreat!
We stayed at Sharen’s property for roughly 3 months this winter, and loved it! The house is cozy and we spent many nights curled up by the fire. We loved the property and how much space there was - it was both remote and close enough to town that we felt like we had the best of both worlds. Sharen was very responsive and a pleasure to communicate with. We would highly recommend this place to anyone considering it, and we hope to be back again soon.
