About this house rental
Nestled in the quiet and residential hills of Silverlake, one of LA trendiest neighborhood, climb a set of 35 steps to this eclectic and elegant home. For relaxation, there is a patio with a Moroccan-inspired seating area with barbecue and a hammock hanging in the trees in a shady spot. For company, meet Yortoise, the resident giant desert sulcata tortoise who lives in the undergrowth and needs to be fed every other day. The artistic interior bursts with color and style. A bright and airy living/ dining room area offers unimpeded views of the Griffith Observatory and beyond. The master bedroom offers direct access to the patio with its giant bird of paradise, bougainvillea, a pomegranate tree teeming with succulents & cacti, where squirrels scurry and birds sing. On warm summer’s days, take a twenty-minute walk to the shores of Silver Lake Reservoir, followed by an ice-cold drink at the hip bars and cafes on Hyperion, a five-minute stroll from your home. Enjoy a peaceful and magical stay!
Things to note:
Our home is on one level, with the front door located at the top of 35 wide steps.
The one-car garage is for your use only. There is a studio unit below w/ a separate and completely private entrance, which is rented out intermittently.
The garden is for your only enjoyment and a gardner will come every other week to remove leaves.
Our home was built in the 1940’s so there are a few minor querks: some of the original wooden windows are hard to open, and the floors are on the chatty side hence there is a no shoe policy to avoid excessive noise for the guests below, and keep the house clean.
Yortoise, the tortoise will need to be fed every other day w/ carrots and veggies provided at the bottom of the fridge. Should you stay longer than a week, you will most likely have to buy his food, unless it’s winter time and he’s hibernating.
There are several indoor plants that will require watering every 4 days.
The Master Bedroom has a queen bed with Smart Roku TV & French doors leading to the lush patio. Some of my personal belongings will be in the closet as this is my primary residence.
The second bedroom has a double bed, a desk and its own private toilet.
The 3rd bedroom has a single/ twin bed and a desk.
The stunning bathroom has been entirely remodeled in 2018.
Open kitchen, dining room and living room boast views of the Griffith Park and the Observatory. Kitchen amenities include dishwasher, nespresso machine, toaster, vintage range/oven, microwave, washer/ dryer, and a breakfast bar. No TV in the living room.
Finally, if you stay more than one week, cleaning lady can be provided at your own cost ( 150$ for 2 people) which we highly recommend as the lush outdoor garden can create a lot of dust.
Enjoy your adventures!
