The location and View was beautiful! Actually getting to the house was easy and the location was great. More parking than other houses and places I’ve seen and been to. The inside was nice and comfortable for everyone. There is an issue with the AC not being able to keep up on a hot day, that certainly would help to get a five star rating. Being part of the Rambling bald resort to use their amenities is a great advantage and makes up for any others issues that could arise. Overall I would recommend it and stay again.

My family and I stayed at the sunset retreat and had a wonderful time our host was great with following up with any of our needs! The house was spacious and clean with great views! The host even mailed back my daughters favorite stuffed animal after we left at there which was amazing!

This rental home was perfect for our family of 6 adults, one teen, and 2 under 12. The house was very spacious, clean, comfortable, and because it’s a split level we all felt a sense of privacy when we just needed it. The outdoor decks gave us all the perfect location to sit comfortably together and enjoy the gorgeous views. The resort amenities were enjoyed by all of us. The road up to the house and the driveway were steep as others have mentioned but totally worth it. If you want the Mountain View’s you gotta work for it. We all talked about coming back again next year and staying longer. The kitchen is well equipped. I’m trying to think of
Something it is lacking but I am drawing a blank. 5 of 5 from our crew!

The area, the stuff nearby, and the house were great. We rented there last year and the whole family wanted to return (which we did - and loved it again).
The view is beautiful with a long vista. The house is comfortable for I think as many as 10 people.
It is a 23 minute drive from hiking at Chimney Rock, and about 50 min. to Ashevil
rivers, eating and shopping in Chimney Rock Village, Flowering Bridge, burgers at Riverwatch restaurant.
Other restaurants we enjoyed - LaStrada, Lake House, Victory Kitchen, and Legends (at the resort).
The resort great to have access to. It creates nearby options for the kids, and we have enjoyed pickleball, swimming (pool and lake), weight room, pontoon boat rental, and paddleboard and kayak rental.
We also waterskied with Lake Lure Adventure (Dylan, our captain was fantastic).
As far as downsides, the house can be a little stuffy during the day (but it cools down completely at night), the steep and curvy roads take some getting used to, it's a 20 minute drive to Ingles grocery store.
But the house and area far outweigh.
Other notes - property manager (Ernie) has been good to work with, and housekeeping folks seem to do a nice job.
Our only other comment would be to encourage Ernie and the owners to talk with the neighbors about some tree trimming for the view toward the lake. The top deck has a million dollar view of the lake.
But the bottom line is, we love this place and want to go back.

Our extended family of 9 (ranging in age from 8 weeks to 65 years) went to celebrate Christmas and had a wonderful time. The house's views were even better than the listing. There was plenty of space for everyone and it was very close to attractions like ziplining, Chimney Rock, and of course the Lake.
The kitchen was well-appointed, and it was especially helpful that the property had a pack and play with a bassinet available so we didn't have to lug ours along.
Some things to be aware of (didn't take away from our visit, but are good to know!)
-The outdoor steps on the deck were very steep and outdoor lighting was a little dim. Definitely need to use care when going up or down after dark.
-there is a gate on the deck steps but our smaller dog (35 lbs) was able to squeeze right through it, meaning he could just roam freely whenever he wanted without close supervision
-the AC/heat was locked, so could not be self-adjusted. When we asked the host they said it could be controlled remotely by then if we requested, and when the connection did not work they reached out to ensure we could find the keys and adjust it if we needed to. We ended up leaving it alone, but the temperature differential throughout the house was pretty dramatic. If you must have a specific temperature to be comfortable, it's good to know.
Overall, it was a fantastic property that suited our needs, and the deck with the views was an added bonus. We had a great time and would definitely stay again!

This house was perfect for me and my family (3 senior citizens, 3 teenagers, 2 adults). It had spectacular views and plenty of sitting space for us all to gather. The kitchen had everything we needed to make Thanksgiving dinner. We spent time in Lame Lure, Chimney Rock, Black Mountain, Mount Mitchell, and even toured Biltmore House and enjoyed it all dressed up for Christmas. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

Stayed here to celebrate a 70th birthday with family. Nice clean house with beautiful views. Host replied immediately about an air conditioning issue. Would definitely stay here again! We all loved it!

The pictures on the property's info page showed the high altitude view of the mountains and Lake Lure. Those pictures grabbed - and in real life it was even better. Having access to resort below made it even better. The place is quiet and the air is clean. Almost intoxicating. We hated to leave and want to go back. Our thanks to Ernie (property manager) who was great to work with.

Property was excellent would definitely stay there again. We were disappointed with check in. Our check in time was 3. Cleaning lady was told it was 4 so he was with us until around 430. Poor communication on host.

The view is 5/5! Loved eating dinners on the porch or having coffee to watch the sun rise.
Outside of that this unit shows little care for it. The deck is in bad shape and had to monitor my 2 year old out of fear of hurting herself walking around. Bathrooms are dated. TV is slow. Internet is terrible.
If you are a modern family who likes to catch up on work when the kids are in bed then this property will frustrate.

We had a very nice stay over the Thanksgiving holiday. The house is older but well maintained. The view from the backyard deck is wonderful. There was plenty of room for our group of 8 with 2 dogs. There is a spacious basement level and all the rooms are nice size. We had one small issue when primary bedroom door was locked from the inside but we were able to contact the host, Nish, quickly and were able to resolve the problem. I would be mindful of keeping the doors unlocked if you have pets or small children. The driveway and front of the house had plenty of room for 3 cars. The drive up to the house is steep but manageable and it's to be expected in this area. We didn't take advantage of the guest passes to the resort but they were available to us. We had a good stay here and would come back again.

In the listing on VRBO it was not made clear how “curvy” the road was to get to the house. We had one guest who could not stay because of the elevation and the sharp curves. We are all 65+ so it probably isn’t the best spot for seniors because of the drive up to the house. There are at least 6 -8 steps no matter where you sleep and also to get to the bathroom. The house and the amenities were excellent. Also, I have a Hulu plus subscription, but on another location other than my home we could not get live TV, so movies were our only option. Unable to watch news or get the football games over the weekend! We did appreciate that you allowed us to check in early as we were part of the wedding party (grandparents). Thank you.

This location has it all: golfing, swimming, lazy river, hiking, fly fishing, horse back riding, kayaks, shopping and wineries. The roads are winding and steep but we’ll worth the trip!

We spent a long weekend at the property with 4 kids and 4 adults. The view from the house of Lake Lure and Rumbling Baldhead Mountain is incredible. The deck is comfortable and spacious. We did not get to use the firepit, but there was wood stacked and ready for the occasion. Inside, the rooms were comfortable and kitchen and bathrooms were stocked with the necessities. It’s a quick 7 minute drive down to the resort, which is great for families. There’s a great beach spot on the lake, pool with lazy river, putt putt, basketball, tennis, and near life size connect four, checkers & chess that the kids enjoyed immensely. The drive into “town” is about 20 minutes…well worth it for the food and boat ride. We had wonderful meals at La Strada and the Lake House. We made a quick afternoon trip to Chimey Rock and grabbed a beer at Hickory Nut while we waded in the Broad River. It was an excellent weekend!

We loved the convenience of the resort nearby and its amenities. The house has all you need to stay comfortably and the area is beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay.

The location is very convenient, Rumbling Bald amenities are very good, the house fit 8 people no issues, the deck is amazing, good quality furniture and maintenance.

The location of this property is beautiful, just make sure your car is up for the mountain roads. The house is lovely, with lots of space, the kitchen is well stocked with cookware, the sheets are very soft, and there is plenty of storage space. The beds are a little firm, but comfortable, and the recliner sofas are very nice. The amenities at the resort are great, but prepare to book ahead of time if you want a boat. The dinning table is a little small for more than 4 people, and the shower heads could use updating. The ice and water from the fridge stopped working, but there is another ice machine. Overall we really enjoyed our stay, and would definitely book here again.

Magnificent View!
We were in awe of the view from the expansive deck. Loved the spacious house and the fire pit outdoors. Our large multi-age family group of 10 could not have had a better time!

Can’t beat the view!
This house was perfect for our needs. We had 8 adults and 2 small children and the downstairs space was perfect for the little ones and their parents. The house was beautiful and clean and view was outstanding. The owner was very accessible and the check in/out process was very straightforward. My only complaint is that we were a little afraid to park in the steep driveway and there were rocks (looked like to be used for around the foundation of the house) that prevented all of us from parking on the road. We had 4 vehicles and two of them had no other choice but to park in the driveway. The road to get to the house is very steep so we planned our trips down the hill and only went down once a day. Overall great experience.

Texas travelers
Three family friends from Texas that travel
Together. Each have requirements of their own. My one friend requires a functioning kitchen and washer and dryer. My other friend a clean house especially the bathrooms. The kids Wi-Fi and smart TV. The dads a place to sit and put their feet up( the recliner chairs). Me a great view to have my morning coffee and a large deck to gather everyone . A place where we reminisce about the past, talk about the present and our hopes for the future. THIS PLACE DELIVERED ON ALL THINGS THAT MATTERED. We thank the owners for sharing their wonderful home with us.
The drive up the mountain was a challenge, but it was part of its charm. We were blessed with good weather. 60s in the morning and cool breeze in the evening. We plan to come back sometime in the fall to see the change in colors that North Carolina mountains are known for.

Very well maintained home with amazing views
This home was extremely clean and exactly as advertised. The owner was very responsive and twice was extremely accommodating and helped me with the mistakes I made while booking the reservation! The home has amazing mountain and lake views from the porch and perfectly accommodated 4 adults, 5 kids (all under 6 yrs old) and 3 dogs! Would absolutely recommend this home! 5 stars across the board!

Great family getaway
We brought 3 different families, including two young children, and this met all of our needs and more!
There is a set of bunkbeds in the downstairs unit that was a nice surprise.
This home is a LOT bigger than it seems.
The amenities at Rumbling Bald Resort are fantastic - we loved sitting at the "beach" on the lake and having the kids play on the playground there.
The only thing I wish is that the house were closer to the amenities - you have to go all the way down the mountain each time.
It is a very upward drive to get to the house so bring a car that can handle that.

Best views in Lake Lure
Pros: The home actually looked better in person than it did in pictures and the views were amazing. They had a great grill that got nice and hot so you could sear your steaks. The neighbors were quiet and the 2nd living room and downstairs deck is perfect for those who are night owls. We had 3 couples and everyone enjoyed their stay very much.
Cons: The driveway is tight with multiple vehicles and the downstairs bathroom had a little bit of a smell to it but overall it was a great place to stay and we would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to our friends.
