About this house rental
Welcome to Chasing the Moon, a ranch with hints of the macabre designed for sacred indoor moments + expansive outdoor living. Newly renovated, the property sits on the sunset corner of the Pioneertown mesa. That means you can walk to Pappy & Harriet's or to miles of Preserve Trails in less than 5 minutes, but you also have unobstructed, private sunset views. Enjoy 500+ square feet of outdoor living space with a 7-person hot tub and stylish Teak furniture. Or, retreat to the well-appointed interior...
The house sits on 2.5 acres on a private, dead-end Pioneertown street. There are 2 bedrooms on each end of the house and plenty of indoor and outdoor space for you to enjoy. The 500 square foot patio has a visionary design in the form of a wing awning that was architected to provide sun coverage with a cool breeze while still being able to enjoy the expansive, unobstructed views to the Preserve to the West and the Sawtooths to the South. From the hot tub you can stargaze while having incredible views and privacy. You are also a few steps away fromthe step-down,in-ground gas fireplace with a mandala-esque design. It should allow you to enjoy the outdoors even on brisk desert nights.
Inside you will find a collection of art and antiques the stylist/artist owners have custom curated to create a unique Gothic Cowboy ambiance. Local decor has enough macramé, and we want to celebrate the darker aspects of the Desert.
There is plenty of parking on site. We are right off one of the roads that make up the core grid of Pioneertown. The roads are rustic and made of packed dirt. You only need 2 wheel drive to get to the property. The roads are fantastic for walking or biking on. Don't miss the chance to chase the moon when it is bright and full. There are some great backstreets walks to get to Pappy's, Red Dog, or Pioneer Bowl.
Rustic quiet neighborhood with big private lots and lots of character to take in. Walking distance down quaint dirt roads to downtown Pioneertown.Note that because Pioneertown is seeing tremendous interest there are new developments and construction happening on nearly every part of town.
Lots of parking. Bike or walk to all Pioneertown attractions. Drive down the rustic roads if that is your vibe. No 4x4 are needed to get to our property as the roads are all flat and packed dirt.
The desert is not friendly to bare feet. Please wear shoes. 'Nuff said.
Cell and data service is spotty in Pioneertown, make sure that you download the guide we will message you or you may need to go 5 miles back to Yucca Valley for "full bars".
This is NOT a party house - like no, nope, nein, negatory. Capisce?
Please no smoking. We said please. Twice.

Dead mouse in the bathroom trash . Dead bugs on the tables . Cell service and Wi-Fi is really bad . Communication was difficult . Sister came all the way from Canada . Is not well , with cancer . There was no water . We didn’t realise til we got in late. Come morning , still no running water . We were blamed for not telling owners sooner . Was not fixed in time before checkout. The basics of running water is not too much to expect from the get go , let alone dead rodents . I did not ask for a full refund . I said paying $100 is fair (as it was literal camping but with a roof above us ) including cleaning which would take 15 mins max . We were unable to use zero dishes or bath towels with no running water . Owners do not care and asked us to reach out to VRBO instead ..

This was our second stay at Chasing the Moon. The second stay was as good as the first. We will be back.

Loved staying in Pioneertown. What a great little town off the beaten path.
The place is unique with its own style, spacious and very comfortable. We had everything we could need and the outdoor jacuzzi was a plus.
My only recommendation is to have some brighter lighting over the dining room table.
