Great stay!

This was our third time visiting Pioneertown Motel and Pappy & Harriet’s and it may just become a permanent annual pilgrimage. It’s a unique and delightful way to experience that part of the California Desert.

This motel speaks true to the pioneer town name. Very simple & sweet. Chairs provided for stargazing. We stayed with our golden retriever and she was very comfortable with the cool floors and quiet nature of the motel. Not too much noise or commotion. It’s a 75 year old Rustic motel. Very cute, very simple. We loved it and will stay again. Beds were clean and comfortable. Shower looked remodeled. Soaps and shampoos were modern cowboy scents. Wifi provided, no TV. If you’re going to a show at pappy & Harriet’s then this is a great location to stay. 10% discount at red dog saloon if you show your key.

Very special place.

The hotel was quaint. It lived up to the Western Theme.
The is a refrigerator in the room. Free coffee and bottled water.

Staying at Pioneertown motel was a treat, a step back into the old west. Charming, friendly hosts - loved the decor and ambiance of the desert area. Fun place to stay!
4.7
Within walking distance of The Red Dog and Pappy and Harriet’s. Very beautiful views. And Renee was so welcoming and kind at check in.
4.7
We stayed two nights. Dinner at Pappy & Harriets. Very good ribs. The Pilot's burger at Copper Room is the best one yet.
Oops, the canteen ran out of cream.
Generally a good experience.
4.7
Pioneertown is an interesting location, but pretty limited in terms of the immediate area. If you are not staying on a weekend, be sure to check if the restaurants will be open, as only the Red Dog Saloon is open every day with a very limited menu. The rooms are quite rustic, and the bathroom is microscopic, particularly the shower. There is no housekeeping service. The handsoap and lotions are quite nice. Adequate for a 1-2 day stay given the limitations stated above.

Great property, staff and fun location

I come out to the area yearly and always stay at this lovely motel. The staff are friendly and very helpful. All of the rooms I've stayed in have been clean and perfectly decorated. It's quiet even when all of the rooms are booked. If you're looking for a quirky yet comfortable place, this is the place for you.
4.7
Off the beaten track accommodation but great fun for one night. One of the two pubs was closed (Mon and Tues) so our options were limited but the Red Saloon was fine for one night. Accommodation was a little quirky but all good.
4.7
This is definitely a unique place. It has to be taken in the context of its location, at what was once a movie set for old Westerns. The rooms are nicely done but not meant for the more-chilly-than usual February we are having - even turning the heat all the way up didn't warm the room very much. The person who greeted us was lovely and brought us extra blankets, and gave us recommendations on places to eat - The Copper Room and its jazz trio was wonderful. Because it was so cold (relatively speaking) we didn't get to enjoy the outdoor areas which looked like they would be quite enjoyable in better weather.

Well appointed, clean rooms, friendly staff, beautiful scenery.
4.7
Such a hidden gem! The room felt modern but still have the cowboy rustic vibe. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. The rooms also provide chairs to stargaze at night. It’s not far away from Yucca Valley or Joshua Tree either.
4.7
Fantastic place to stay. Low-key yet they think of everything. Friendly and available for needs and/or questions.
4.7
Came out to see the Sam Grisman project at Pappy’s, king room with a mountain view. Everything is exactly right. Perfect original desert classic, clean and quality fabrics and decor. Non toxic soaps I could actually use. Super Awesome staff!

The ambience is rustic, warm and clean.

Best place to stay in the Joshua Tree area
4.7
Stayed here about 5 years ago and it was great, but now it just feels spent and tired. The bed was very uncomfortable, there was no follow through on our request for extra pillows, shower was just a trickle of water, and the heat wasn’t on when we arrived so the room was freezing. The heater made a loud metallic click every time it engaged and was very annoying through the night. Definitely will not return.
4.7
We enjoyed the unique rustic charm and location near Joshua Tree
4.7
Beautiful, Rustic, Quiet ,and dark. No real "amenities" , I think a hot tub would be a great addition. Awesome place to lie in a hammock and watch the night sky

This motel is beautiful, so unique, has super clean rooms and the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. Truly a gem in the desert!
It's amazingly convenient to live music in town.

Fun to be near pioneer town which was a movie set. Drivable to Joshua tree. Fun area and room reflected the town.

What an amazing stay we had at the Pioneer Town Motel. We had a great welcome from the staff, the room was lovely and quaint with good beds. The town is idyllic and really fun with all the movie history and Wild West buildings... definitely worth a visit
4.7
Check in person was super sweet. The room in a perfect size for two people. The beds are comfortable. The property is clean and cute. It’s next to Pappy and Harriet’s :)
4.7
Enjoyed authentic western accommodations
4.7
The staff is so welcoming and helpful, and the property is beautiful and offers plenty of things to do in just walking around Pioneertown.
4.7
Mixed feelings. Very nice, authentically courteous front desk. Stayed two nights to hike in Joshua Tree NP. Left at 7:30 Saturday and came back at 4 and no one had cleaned my room, no one made my bed. Shower and bathroom flushes next door sound like breaking waves at C Street in Ventura. Charming design, convenient too, but $350 a night for no one to make your bed? and 19th century plumbing noises? Terrible value.
4.7
What a gem of a place in Pioneertown, clean and comfortable rooms in a super relaxing setting yet right next to some fun lively dining and entertainment places. The staff is sincere and friendly, overall this place is one our favorites.
