This was a family vacation with 2 of my adult children and their families. The home was perfectly located in Tacoma for everything we planned to see and do! The house was spacious and beautiful! Two of the grandchildren loved the basement sleeping quarters and nicknamed it their “lair”. Plenty of games for down time. Mel was a great host!

Melanie is a wonderful host and the home is lovely. She was excellent communicating about the visit and had some lovely appreciated touches that made our birthday ladies feel welcome.
This is a historical home and has all of the amazing details you'd expect with this. Three spacious bedrooms are up a flight of stairs and one sleeping area was downstairs/basement area. There are no bedrooms on the main level.
All three levels have a bathroom with the top and bottom floors having full and 3/4 bathrooms respectively.
We would definitely stay again as it is a lovely neighborhood and close to everything.
The house has stairs to get in and access bedrooms. If mobility is an issue this would not be a good fit. If you love spacious historical homes this is a fabulous place. We had folks in our party with injuries and Melanie communicated ahead of time on what to watch out for. We had no issues with the stairs and navigating them.
Melanie has a very clean home and a detailed book about the house and local attractions.
We had a wonderful trip and hope to be back soon.

We were an extended family group with 2 small children and 6 adults and we had a great time staying in Melanie’s home. The location can’t be beat and the home itself is lovely and well-stocked with linens, kitchen gadgets, etc. We do wish that we had better understood the stair situation before booking, however, as the lack of railing on the first leg of the main indoor staircase, and the openings on both levels of the main staircase that allow for dangerous drops to the floor below, were quite stressful for the grandparents and for the parents of an active toddler. In contrast, the couple with a baby who is not yet walking found the home and yard very family friendly, and appreciated the provided travel crib and booster seat, as well as the washer and dryer. Overall, if all the staircases were updated to include railings and block all holes, we would wholeheartedly recommend this home to families of all ages.

This large gorgeous home is in a safe neighborhood that met all our needs. Melanie was an amazing host and kept in touch with me during our stay. The accommodations were clean, and family friendly. The kids loved the downstairs basement/game/movie room. We were there for my daughters graduation which was conveniently 10 minutes away from the house at the Tacoma Convention Center. We were able to meet timelines with ease. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone, if they’re ever are staying in Tacoma. So glad we found this gem! :)

We came from CA to celebrate our daughters 23rd birthday. The house was perfect. Many different gathering areas, stocked with everything you need. We enjoyed the fireplace and a surprise ❄️ snowstorm. Location was nice. I loved my daily walks through the enchanted neighborhoods. Owner was wonderful and responded quickly. She even brought us bottled water and ice on day 2. Melanie and her home are lovely and you won’t be disappointed. BOOK THIS HOME. Can’t wait to stay again!!!!

Beautiful, classic charm. The home is gorgeous and well taken care of. The beds and linens are high quality. Kitchen and bathrooms are well stocked. The renter is welcoming and easy to communicate with. Being an older home there are few plug ins and some of the light switches can be tricky but not an issue at all for so much charm. Felt like home, didn't want to leave.

We had a wonderful stay! The dog enjoyed the backyard, and my husband and I enjoyed the rest of the house. The house was stocked with everything we needed; the kitchen was especially well stocked and ready for any kind of dinner we planned. The location was convenient to very good restaurants and take-out places. The Host communicated with very well; check in was seamless.

My family of four (myself, husband, 4YO and 1YO) along with my mom stayed here for half of our WA state vacation which was 5 nights. It’s a fun old house. My kids loved the basement with a few toys, TV and giant bean bags. It was also nice to be able to cook and do our laundry while we were there to save on packing. There was a lot to do in Tacoma as well as Seattle and the house had a great location. I even walked my son 0.7 miles to the nearby Wright Park. Melanie was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the house. The only thing we would add would be a small fire pit as the little backyard is a really nice little hangout space, but we did realize that since wildfires are an annual concern, maybe a fire pit isn’t a smart investment. Plenty of space for my family and we hope to be able to visit again.

Great historic home in perfect location
This home is centrally located in Tacoma, minutes from downtown, easy access to I5 and close to shopping. The house is well maintained with all of the essentials needed for a comfortable stay. The host is very responsive and provided pictures of everything we may need to know about the property. Beds are comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked and the backyard provides a beautiful place to sit and relax. This was perfect for our stay to explore the Puget Sound, Tacoma and Seattle.

Heritage home in established neighborhood
We drove up to the house and said “Oh”, then looked at the surrounding neighborhood and added “la la”. We felt instantly comfortable. The listing description was accurate, and the host was attentive – responding quickly to anything we asked. Not mentioned in the listing is the fact that parking is a non-issue (park in the driveway or, equally easy, on the street). You can’t ask for more.

Daughters wedding
This historic home is a gem.. We had a large family party(it was our daughter wedding) that we shared the home with from ages 12 to 57 and there was plenty of room for everyone to have there own space while still having that cozy comfort. The OG fireplace was a hit and having 3 bathrooms was a huge luxury..We only wish we had made our stay a bit longer. Melanie is super responsive to texts but we really did not need anything once checked in. Thanks again Melanie!

Absolutely wonderful
Melanie is an amazing host who makes sure you feel like you're in your home away from home. She provided the best experience I've ever had. There's plenty of space to explore and it was super easy to check in. It can get chilly in the winter but there's plenty of extra blankets! I can't wait to return the next time I need a weekend getaway.

First VBRO renter to stay at this property.
Very nice home. The oven didn’t work but we were able to improvise. The living room area was cold, but there was unusually cold temperatures. She had a lot of nice blankets. Owner decorated for Christmas. She put up a tree and other nice decorations. We will definitely rent this house again. Chris
