Beautiful resort and property with some minor misses
The resort / grounds / pool are gorgeous. The pool is huge and has a hot tub. Also lovely to have a small beach directly accessible via the resort, and golf cart rides provided to and from (a short, less than 10 min walk - but the return is all uphill). The apartment is nicely furnished and a good amount of space for two people. Everything you need in the kitchen, and more than ample space for two guests. We appreciated the host leaving some welcome chocolates, cookies, and coffee, and having beach chairs and a beach cooler available for our use. The balcony has a nice view overlooking the pool area (but far enough away to not be disruptive) and the mountains. It is third floor, corner unit, so nice to avoid hearing commotion above or two neighbors for noise, just one on one side.
The apartment is a nice size, with the exception of a tiny bathroom. Also odd placement - the bathroom is directly off the kitchen, so if you are on the toilet you are literally three feet away from someone who may be at the kitchen sink or refrigerator. There is not a single closet in the unit, not even a hook so you can't hang anything up. We found the bed very comfortable but not the bedding - cheap / stiff /scratchy sheets. We found four roaches in the unit (two dead, two live, one for almost each day we stayed). We informed the resort on departure and they said they would spray and thought also it had been recently sprayed (hence the dead ones). Seems like might be a common problem. The resort does encourage daily trash disposal - can simply call them and leave outside for pick up. As for the resort - it was annoying to pay the extra $10 daily parking fee (in addition to daily $22 resort fee) when, each night after we came back from dinner, it was like Christmas at a mall trying to find a parking spot. Twice we were directed to just park on the side of the resort main driveway. Not cool. Great there is a restaurant on site (we enjoyed dinner/drinks one night), but it's not open for lunch and the pool bar is closed indefinitely. Not sure if seasonal or maybe can't get enough staff like everyone else, but both would be a nice add.

Really great view and spacious apartment.
The view was terrific.
The bedroom area in the loft was very hot making it hard to sleep. The bathroom had a mouldy smell.

It started off well enough, and then got really gross.
The grounds are well maintained and generally nice
Our unit had an active cockroach infestation and numerous spot-treatments for roaches (powders, sprays, and traps sitting out in the kitchen). I have never experienced anything like this in all my trips to Hawaii. Toward the back half of our trip we discovered numerous live roaches throughout the unit.
