About this house rental
Thie Spooyt is a refurbished and extended Manx cottage offering spacious holiday accommodation for up to six people, ideal for a family or group of friends.
Finished to a high standard throughout, the cottage features a large kitchen and conservatory / living area which makes for a great socialising space complete with log burner for those chilly evenings. The kitchen has a Rangemaster oven and hob, large American style fridge freezer and breakfast bar. Moving through the house to the dining room, a large light open space with floor to high ceiling windows before reaching the main living room with a further log burner, comfortable seating for six and a large window for enjoying panoramic views to the north of the island and south west Scotland. Look out for wildlife or identify passing ships using the telescope set up for guests to enjoy! A large flatscreen smart TV provides entertainment for nights in.
The first floor features a master bedroom enjoying the same panoramic views as from the lounge, complete with en-suite bathroom. Two further double bedrooms and a family bathroom are contained within the original cottage, together with a small study complete with desk and chair.
Relax in the garden which provides a lovely suntrap, often sheltered from the elements, make use of the BBQ facilities, or enjoy sitting round the outdoor fire pit. The cottage is located in a great position for stargazing due to the low light pollution in the area, indeed the Isle of Man has 26 official dark sky stargazing locations dotted around the island in recognition of our dark skies.
The cottage is located a short distance from the Manx Electric Railway, watch the trams rumble past several times a day, and for a trip north to Ramsey or south to Laxey hop on at either Dreemskerry or Lewaigue tram stops which are 5 minutes walk from the cottage in either direction. The harbour town of Ramsey is little more than 5 minutes drive from the cottage. Close by you'll also find The Venture Centre, an outdoor activity centre offering many activities including kayaking, archery and coasteering.

We loved staying at the Spooyt, it is an amazing house of a unique design and fitted out to the highest standard with lots of beautiful, very individual touches. The view from the master bedroom and lounge is stunning.
The gardens are extensive and very well maintained with lots of seating in different places. We had good weather during our stay and enjoyed breakfast in the garden each day looking at the fabulous views and watching the trams go by.
There is a big sturdy brick built BBQ and adjacent stone fire pit, we enjoyed both.
Definitely recommended.

A wonderful property with all the comforts of home. Great views out to the paddocks and yonder to the Irish Sea. And only a couple of minutes drive to Ramsey for groceries, dining options, etc.

Just returned from a very enjoyable 4 night stay.
Location is idyllic with wonderful sea views. The property itself is beautifully kept and very comfortable. Communication before and during our stay was excellent. Would highly recommend it.

Top notch modernized property in a quiet, accessible location. Plenty of space, and thoughtful features both in the cottage and the spacious grounds. Outstanding views of surrounding countryside, sea and coastline. We loved it.

We had read previous reviews of Thie Spooyt and our expectations were high. It is fair to say that they were exceeded!
Thie Spooyt is a lovely property in a great location, very comfortable, well equipped and presented. The bedrooms are all comfortable but the master is the real star with its fabulous views over the fields to the sea. The wider living space offers views and corners where you can just relax and enjoy the garden.
The kitchen is well equipped having all necessary to leisurely cook from scratch or, as there is so much to do on the Island, make quick easy meals.
Being to the north of the IoM you will find yourself travelling to many locations, nowhere is very far, and it gives opportunity to enjoy much of the Mountain Course and wonder at the speeds attained at the TT.
We enjoyed the magnificent scenery on offer and many of the towns and villages. There is a great integrated transport system with all in passes for the busses, steam railway, electric tramway, Snaefell tram and more. Definitely recommend looking into these as they are good value.
Nearby Maughold and its lighthouse is well worth a look but as it is on the doorstep easily overlooked.
One thing to be aware of is the driveway exit has limited visibility, one of our party acted as lookout, and that off road parking is comfortable for two cars.

This house is absolutely beautiful with stunning views set in a rural and very peaceful location. Spotless and with excellent facilities for all your needs and plenty of room for 6 adults . Lots of nooks and crannies to sit in and enjoy. The garden is lovely with a stream running by to enjoy in the sunny weather. We stayed for a wedding but would love to go back and spend a whole week and explore the island more. Although it’s perhaps on higher end of price it’s honestly worth it .

Thie Spooyt is the perfect holiday home, and especially in winter! It is warm and inviting with wood burning stoves in the two main living areas and a plentiful supply of logs. At night the twinkling lights of the Point of Ayre lighthouse light up the horizon. This house is very cosy with everything you need for an enjoyable stay and we all slept very well. The cleanliness was excellent and the experience is exactly what you’d expect from Island Escapes.

Stunning property in a fabulous location which enjoys stunning views. Everything you could need for a comfortable stay is available. The property is very tastefully appointed with lots of personal touches that make it feel welcoming and homely. We stayed for 3 nights for a family wedding but could have happily stayed for much longer. We will definitely return x

We had a fab stay at Thie Spooyt. This is a must stay for Islanders and visitors too - the views are simply oustanding from every part of the property! The only problem (hahaha).... you must allow much more time than normal to drink a cup of tea in bed in the morning.... you just can't drag yourself away from the view ( particularly from the master bedroom)!! Plan on being late for everything or just spend the whole time lazing around in the beautiful garden or sitting spaces - inside or out. A truly magical spot!

One of the best accomodations if not the best that we had. This accommodation was perfect for our small family. The place was neat and tidy, the garden was perfect spot for our family to chill while the kids played around. Morning view from the main bedroom was amazing! Our little one and my husband always look forward to see the train pass by in the field. Not to mention, there were those lovely cows who always a delight to see all day. In short, this was a home away from home, we had a very peaceful and relaxing stay. We would surely come back, we still have a lot of activities to do in the island. Thank you Island Escapes for making our stay unforgettable x

Wonderful stay
A beautiful house in the gorgeous countryside, completely modernised, with a generous garden and far fetching sea view. Loved spending time by the fire pit watching the farm animals in the distance and listening to the stream gently trickling by. All the instructions are super easy to follow, plenty leaflets about local attractions, had a absolutely wonderful stay. Definitely would love to return in the future.

Wonderful Stay
A beautiful modern cottage. Very well maintained and serviced in an excellent location with beautiful views. Wish we had booked it for a longer period of time and it would have been a bit cheaper for us to afford it for few more days. When I will ever visit IOM again I will definitely make sure I stay here. No negatives on this stay.
