Had a wonderful stay! Great location…easy walk to restaurants, beach, neighborhoods. Host was very welcoming and helpful. Will definitely stay again.

We selected this property for its convenience to family and were so glad we did. Everything was as expected based on the property description and prior reviews. We liked having a separate bedroom and a spacious living/work space. The garden was a lovely place to relax and read. The quiet neighborhood was also welcome for me as a light sleeper. We also took advantage almost every day of the close proximity to the walking path along the Bay.

I really enjoyed my stay at this place. It had everything I needed with many little surprises from the host. The garden is gorgeous and the place is conveniently located with its own parking.
I would definitely stay here again.

We have stayed in several places during our years of visiting family in Alameda. This was by far the best, most comfortable and most convenient. The bed was great, there was plenty of dresser and closet space, the bathroom was roomy. There was a grab bar in the tub/shower which worked perfectly for us old folks. There is no kitchen, but the refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven and coffee pot was all we needed. The backyard was a beautiful place to sit and read a book. In and out was easy. Even parking was easy. And even WE could walk to several restaurants, markets and donut shops.

We loved all the thoughtful touches and the kitchen-- silverware, toaster, refrigerator. Great TV that didn't take a Phd to use. Wonderful neighborhood, close to coffee shops and store a few blocks away.
Only problem was a saggy bed. Betty is the best.

Very roomy. The amenities were more than adequate, including banana bread and coffee for the first morning. I appreciated the little things, such as a heated throw for the bed and a flashlight near the front door. The property is very close to Crab Cove and restaurants at the end of Webster Street. I would have appreciated more security, such as a chain lock, for the front and back doors.

We enjoyed our stay in Alameda! Betty made us feel very welcomed. The accommodations were spacious and clean. A great plus is the available parking space. Our grandchildren really enjoyed playing in the backyard on the putting green! Would definitely go back!

Visiting with family in the Bay Area

This property was a delight to stay at. Perfect location as it was close to restaurants, shops and even the beach. It was nice to have my own parking spot!
The checkin process was smooth, she even baked a tasty banana bread. There was a water filter as well which was a nice suprise. The apartment had every thing I needed during my stay.
I would stay here again. Thanks, Betty!

My stay was lovely and I had everything I needed.

Great location within a short walking distance of a grocery store, restaurants , shops and the waterfront! Quiet cul-de-sac with outdoor seating area for relaxing in back. Ground-level - no steps! Cozy bed, plenty of towels in the bathroom. A very nice overall stay. Would recommend it to others.

As listed. And within walking distance to many restaurants.

I felt like I had walked into my moms house. Clean, comfortable, welcoming and she even left us banana bread that was just delicious and as good as moms. She let us eat the blueberries, tomatoes, strawberries from her garden and we enjoyed limes in our Diet Coke from her tree. Honestly it was the perfect stay. Most comfortable bed and the location was perfect for our needs. Close to food and beaches and ballgames and entertainment. We loved it. Honestly, staying there felt like a warm hug. Thank you Betty!!

Betty is very nice. She knew we were there to celebrate a birthday and she had a card and bouquet waiting. She also made some yummy banana bread for us! Her coffee bar was the best!! Unfortunately, she lives upstairs and you here every step. You also have no privacy outside. Betty was out on her deck and tending the yard, couldn’t go outside and just relax without being on display, made it awkward and couldn’t enjoy the space that was advertised. Felt like we had to tip toe around and worried about noise and every move being watched, not the relaxing, enjoyable stay we wanted- but good coffee bar.

Attention to detail.
The place has what travelers need. Nice appliances. Kitchen equipment. Bath products are nice. Quiet street. Everything is as listed. The backyard is very cute.

Excellent Stay!
My daughter and I came to Alameda to visit with family in the area. We were so happy to find an affordable VRBO in Alameda that would allow us to visit outside in a garden as well as have plenty of room to sit inside if it got chilly.
Betty's place provided so much more than this!
The actual apartment and yard are much larger than they appear in the pictures!
Upon entering, we found the dining/kitchenette/office area so tastefully decorated and every thing we could possibly need for snacks and coffee/tea were provided. The table would easily accommodate my daughter and I as well as my brother and mother if we needed it.
Past the dining area, the living room is so cozy and welcoming. There is a nice leather sofa and 2 very comfortable side chairs. The TV worked well and the ceiling fans and lights all worked to make the space so comfortable.
The bathroom is clean and well appointed. The water pressure was perfect and Betty provided plenty of towels and any other item we could think of.
The bedroom was quite large and provided the most comfortable bed!! We slept like the dead!! ha ha!
There was lots of dresser space and closet space for our things.
The garden area is the crowing jewel of this lovely home. There was a nice patio table with umbrella for us to sit under, a cute putting green with balls and clubs provided, but really...let's talk about that garden! Top notch! Blueberries, strawberries, cherry tomatoes, limes, lemons and lots of zucchini on its way. Just a beautiful setting for a nice visit.
Betty was available or not - depending on our needs. She knows what's she's doing and provides a great place to stay for any visit to the Bay Area. I will be booking here again the next time we come to town.

Grandma‘S Place
The owner Betty was great, very responsive and provided great information regarding check-in. She baked us a banana bread and provided coffee and bottled water. The apartment is roomy with tons of potential. The bedding , towels and bathroom were clean. The apartment itself is in need of a complete facelift. The entire place needs painting. The area rugs are dirty and frayed. The doors, baseboards and moldings are scuffed and dirty. The furniture is a mishmash of antiques and very tired pieces. I have rented over fifty homes over the years and have not given a negative review until now. If Betty wasn’t so accommodating the rating would have been less.

Garden oasis
This property exceeded all my expectations! The host was so available and thoughtful. Even things I did not know I needed were provided. Homemade banana bread was waiting for me when I arrived. I picked a bowl of blueberries out side my back door each morning. Lovely robes were hanging in the closet! The bed is as soooo comfortable. I so enjoyed my stay. I would encourage anyone to book. I might go back to the area just to stay there!

Comfortable Apartment
Comfortable and roomy apartment. Everything you need is there. Not a full kitchen, so not for someone planning on cooking, but we’ll equipped kitchenette. Cute backyard if you want to sit outside. Parking in driveway was very convenient.

A nice little house with a lovely garden
This is a minimal but comfortable house. I stayed here for 3 nights. The bed is great, and the TV is actually easy to use! It is strange in having no kitchen sink but the bathroom sink has a tall faucet and Betty supplied a small bucket to carry dishes to the bathroom in. She also supplied paper bowls and plates so I didn't have that many dishes. There are lots of good restaurants right in the neighborhood. The garden has blueberry bushes filled with blueberries and gardenias that bloom. The only negative is that the bathroom rugs were not clean. Probably just a bath mat that gets washed would solve that problem. I recommend this place for an inexpensive comfortable place to stay not too far from Crab Cove and the beach on the bay in Alameda.

I plan on returning for trips to the Bay Area.

It's great when a rental matches the photos in the listing, and the property owner is so responsive. Thanks for the flowers, lemons, blueberries, strawberries and mint right from the beautiful garden. The extra amenities, such as the 3-hole putting green, robes, books, and more are some of the best I've ever experienced. I'd definitely stay here if I get back to the Bay Area.

Betty’s place was so cute and you could tell there was pride of ownership in every aspect of her unit! Very clean, lots of options for coffee, bottles of water and half-and-half provided, plus the banana bread was a real treat (even if my friend accidentally left it behind, ugh!). The check-in process was smooth and Betty was SO helpful and responsive, despite all of the delays in my friend’s arrival time. We will recommend Betty’s place to our friends and hopefully stay there again soon. Book without hesitation! I highly recommend this unit.

Comfy and relaxing.
This is an adorable apartment on a quiet dead end street. The yard is private and comfortable like another room of the apartment. The fresh flowers in vases in the apartment and the lemonade and banana bread were lovely touches. The owner is available but not overbearing. I highly recommend. If you want to do a lot of cooking, it may not be the place because it lacks a real kitchen. Nearby restaurants and deli were fabulous.
