You are going to love Sparrowhawk House. The tidy yard featuring a gas fire pit and a shady patio with a Webber grill and outdoor dining that leads you into a chef’s kitchen, spacious living room, spa bathrooms and large, comfy bedrooms. The home is fully air conditioned. How is that for comfort?
The location is exactly right. A quiet residential neighborhood within strolling distance of a village that pulls out all the stops -- a main street lined with restaurants, boutiques, an ice cream shop, a shady park, historic riverfront, and a white-steepled 19th century church. There’s something so alluring about the small towns where so much history happened, and how so many things are still quaintly the way they always were. Not only can we see the three waterfalls and dams in Royal River Park and historical buildings, but Yarmouth is also home to the world-class Yarmouth Clam Festival in July, year-round sports and activities and most of all spectacular beauty everywhere you turn.
The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to prepare delicious meals -- pots, pans, drip coffee maker, dishes, utensils, etc.
All three bedrooms are spacious and comfortable with a queen bed in each. The main bedroom is located on the first floor. There is a day bed in a den area at the top of the stairs.
Be aware - deep spa tubs in each bathroom. This is an older, historic farmhouse. (built in the early 1900's) although it has been completely updated, stairs are steep to the second floor.
Maine's largest city and foodie dream, Portland, is twenty minutes south and the outlet town of Freeport and LL Bean is just next door, a shopper's delight.
And don't miss this - Only 15 mins away. Take a walk around Mackworth Island since it is so close to your house. Mackworth Island State Park is a gem of the Casco Bay area. An island of about 100 acres, accessible by a causeway to the mainland, there are 360-degree scenic views of the ocean and Portland’s skyline, and so much to be enjoyed on this little piece of preserved land. Accessible by a causeway, Mackworth Island State Park is full of local wildlife due to its mixed-growth forest and location at the mouth of the Presumpscot River. As a legally-declared bird sanctuary, you can expect to see a wide variety of birds including turkeys, warblers, ruffed grouse, and thrushes in addition to racoons, hares, foxes, skunks and squirrels. Watch the boats cruise by through the harbor, admire the rocky coast, enjoy the Portland skyline, and keep an eye out for the island’s “fairy village,” which is a collection of tiny houses made from natural materials for the island’s magical creatures to call home.

Wanted a place to hang out and catch up with my elderly mom during our trip home. Lovely house, full kitchen, pretty accessible for her walker with large grd level bedroom. Be aware: tubs too tall for her to get in shower. Would recommend this spacious home, walkable to historic district to anyoke

The house was just as described and well appointed. It was also very clean! It was a great place for my mother and daughter to stay as the three us us each had our own room. There are two full bathrooms. The kitchen was well appointed with everything we needed to prepare our own meals and clean up easily. We will definitely be returning

The location was wonderful. The house was clean and well equipped with kitchen items. The steep stairs to the second floor were challenging due to the railings being uneven. There really should be cables or something closing in the open staircase. I purchased a bath mat for the tubs which were slippery.Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay.

We had a great stay. I would recommend this property to almost all ages. If someone has limited mobility the shower access is definitely a challenge. The neighborhood is quiet. Most everything was new and the beds comfortable.

Our adult kids and their partners joined us. The house was perfect for us - the kitchen is well stoced and the bedrooms great. A little more seating would be good when there are 6 in the house but we had a couple of camp chais and used those. The host was VERY responsible with the couple of questions I asked. Great place.

This house is adorable! Very clean & the best stocked rental we have ever stayed in. The full size washer & dryer is a very welcome above average amenity. The patio with string lights & fire pit is a perfect spot to enjoy the end of day sunset. We will definitely be staying here again. Perfect location for all our mid coast & Portland adventures.

Great, except there were no scissors, saran wrap, or starter coffee, so we left a pair of scissors, saran wrap, and starter coffee for the next guest—otherwise, it is a great place to stay!

We loved our stay! Family gathering where we could all be together. Great bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and outdoor space. We could have used a bigger table to eat at and a larger common area but perfect for 4-5 people.

Super cute house. The home was well equipped with everything we needed to make our stay pleasant. Inviting outdoor space with lights and fire pit. The neighborhood is quiet and overall a great location. Communication with the host was awesome. I had a few questions and Liz immediately responded. My family felt comfortable and we appreciated the cleanliness of the home. Would recommend staying here.

The house overall is nice and we really enjoyed our 3 days there. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pan, plates and utensils. The outdoor patio with the hanging lights with a gas fire pit is nice. There was a minor issue in the house, ie the first floor bedroom door creak big time. It was be nicer if the kitchen table has 6 chairs instead of 4.

This place was a great place to stay, but (as other reviews have stated) the stairs are difficult to climb and the entry to the shower/bathtubs is high. So if you are older, have a physical disability, or have young kids who may run inside, I would not choose this house. Also, the bathroom doors close but do not offer much sound privacy when it comes to bathroom noises. If you don’t have to worry about any of these things, this place is great! I would stay here again.

Perfect accommodations for our family of five. Very clean, comfortable, and updated. Nice neighborhood. My only suggestion would be to add window blinds or black out curtains. It gets daylight very early and the rooms are bright. This would not keep me from staying here again though.

Reviewer Comments:
Older home with renovations that are not fully functional. Arrived to a house in the late evening that was 58 degrees in october. Hvac/furnace took 3 hours to warm the house. Broken couch, 2 legs were off and not fixable during our stay despite our notifying owners immediately. Owner seemed receptive to fix asap then ghosted us and said she "forgot" and there was "no excuse" or reason. Minimal sympathy for this when youre running a business in hospitality. We had 4 people in our group and no where to sit together but the dinette in the kitchen. We sat on the living room floor. Slow drainage in 1st floor shower, so we used only upstairs restroom. Loud heater upstairs, makes a "snapping" noise evertime turns onnor off. This woke us multiple times per night if sleeping upstairs. Location ia great. Kitchen was clean. Having laundry access was nice. Average accommodations overall.

We had a wonderful time in the Portland area! I would highly recommend this property to stay at!

The neighborhood was fantastic - people great and location wonderful. The kitchen was great. The 2nd floor suggests folks of shorter statue - meaning 5 foot 6 or shorter due to beds that sit next to a-line ceiling and stairs that bump head if taller. The house was clean and nice, but 2nd floor challenging. Bathroom showers (bath with 1/2 glass windows) need to be reconfigured as getting in and out challenging.

It was a cute house and in a good location. We were able to walk to town and to parks. We enjoyed the outside sitting area and fire pit. The house was clean but there are few things that need to be addressed. Too many glade plug ins, the doors to downstairs bedroom do not close properly, water fills up in downstairs tub while taking a shower, also, the barn doors in downstairs bath do not provide any privacy,.

The community of Yarmouth is beautiful and we felt very safe. The house itself was not safe for senior citizens. When we arrived the outside step to door had no handrails. The STEEP stairs were dangerous with no hand rails. I did call Liz the property manager and she had someone put some up that evening. The tubs were called spa tubs because they were deep, requiring a leg raise of 24” with out any type of handle or bar to hold on to. My husband has asthma and there were 5 plug in air fresheners on the second floor with an additional 4 on first floor. Few safety changes needed.

This is a beautiful house with plenty of room and everything you need . We had 5 adults two kids and two dogs and had a great time . I have to say the kitchen table has only 4 chairs so if you will have more than 4 people you won't all be able to sit at the table together but we worked it out with a couple standing at the kitchen island .
We did really enjoy our. time their

Wonderful place, close to town and near by favorite hangouts in Portland, Freeport and Popham Beach.

Few things to be noted. I recently had hip replacement and did not realize how high tub was. Could not get my legs over and was unable to shower. Tub not handicap accessible.
Also stairs going upstairs need a hand railing. In Connecticut that would not pass the building codes. Dangerous.
Also sugar ants on counter in kitchen. If food was on counter, ants would get into the food.

We had such a lovely time in Yarmouth. We had enough space that we could spread out and the kids didn’t have to be on top of each other, plenty of amenities and even some reading material for those who forgot to pack some! We enjoyed sitting on the patio enjoying a glass of wine by the fire pit. Would definitely recommend a visit.

I loved this house and the decor! The stairs to 2nd floor are quite steep, so a bit nerve wracking with the kids. The light switches were a bit confusing :)
But the house had everything we needed. It was clean, updated and comfortable. I didn’t feel like I was living in someone else’s space.
We would book this home again!

We enjoyed the quiet location of the rental. The furnishings were new and stylish. The stairs to the second floor were quite steep without a handrail. A handrail and something to cover the empty wall on the left side would make it safer, especially for young kids. There were also a lot of spiders that kept turning up in the bathrooms. But overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Great stay
The property was in a great location easy to walk to Main st for food and a few cute shops and in a very safe feeling neighborhood. The house was very clean with comfortable beds and cute decor. The outside space was very relaxing with Adirondack chairs and gas fire pit. The communication with the property manager was easy and responses were quick. Overall wonderful experience!
