About this house rental
A fresh new look! Thanks to hail damage, Serenity Heights has a beautiful new color and other new outdoor updates.
Enjoy the peace and quiet of Serenity Heights indoors and out. The unobstructed views of the vast timber, rolling hills, and breathtaking sunsets and sunrises provide the serene atmosphere for guests to truly relax in any season of the year.
This spacious, lofted home is newly decorated in an upscale rustic western theme with almost all new furniture offering many comfortable places to be still or converse with others. Serenity Heights makes a perfect setting for couple's getaways, family staycations, Bible study retreats, sabbaticals, bridal showers, or work-related gatherings.
Every room in the house has unique and functional qualities, but there are some favorite spaces worth noting. Four huge picture windows throughout the house allow for natural light and amazing views in every direction. The living room features a beautiful fireplace for a cozy spot to relax in the winter months. The huge kitchen is fully equipped for any large holiday celebration, or simply to brew your favorite individual Keurig K-cup. The master suite is not only beautiful, but also includes a very comfortable king bed, and a peaceful sitting room connected by French doors. A hideaway bed with a double-sized mattress is available in this sitting room. The master bathroom has a large tub/shower and a handicap accessible jetted tub/shower for our guests with disabilities. There is also a chair lift available for those who need help accessing the lofted part of the house.
The loft is another large space for viewing miles of nature's beauty, to gather as a family, or to stream your favorite entertainment. For those who love to read or play games, the stately library features numerous books, games, and puzzles as well as a game table and comfortable seating. Both the loft and library have queen-sized hideaway beds. The bedroom on this upper floor has a sturdy queen/double lofted bed with easy access by wooden steps. Besides the master bedroom, there is a bedroom on the main floor with a twin daybed and twin trundle. This room also has a full-sized washer and dryer. Serenity Heights can sleep 14 guests in beds. We suggest sleeping only12 adults for your maximum comfort.
Outside of the house, there is plenty of room to run, walk, and play. Bring a basketball and play a game of basketball on the large cement pad. If relaxing is more your speed, we've got that covered as well. There are many outdoor spaces for guest to experience retreat from the stress of life, especially in spring, summer, and fall. The front covered porch is one of the favorite places for guests. The bed swing makes a comfortable seat or bed for viewing the scenery. The small metal table and chairs is also available for an outdoor eating nook. The large back covered porch with extensive outdoor seating and gas grill connects to an expansive uncovered deck with an outdoor table and chairs. A second story deck providing another table and chairs is accessible from the library. Finally, the large gravel fire pit with eight high-quality Adirondack chairs provides an amazing setting year-round to make memories around a cozy campfire. Don't forget your s'mores and roasting sticks!
Whether you're looking for an isolated couple's get-away, a summertime family reunion, a perfect spot to view colorful fall foliage, or a winter wonderland, Serenity Heights could be the perfect location for what you're looking for.
Inquire about the availability and price to rent the property's 68 acres of hunting/trapping ground or fishing ponds through the HLRBO website. Also, ask about the 2-car garage and large upright freezer or extra refrigerator in the garage. Water and electricity are available for up to two campers for large groups needing the extra space. Contact Heather for more information and about the extra fees associated with these options.
Public hiking, fishing, and hunting grounds are available very nearby. The Harvest Barn, Revelton Distillery, Lakeside Casino and multiple restaurants, shops, and public parks in the small town of Osceola are available only a few miles away. The Bridges of Madison County are 20-30 minutes away. It's only a 40-minute drive to get to West Des Moines and a 2-hour drive to Kansas City.

Serenity Heights is a beautiful place to stay. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed to cook and eat the food we brought.
Bedding, towels, everything was clean and provided. The guide book with where everything was and what was expected was very helpful.
Heather was a great hostess who answered my messages promptly. Thanks so much for this great experience. :)

Quiet and peaceful. It was tucked back in the country away from all the hustle and bustle which is what we loved! It was very snowy and The driveway was a challenge. But all in all it was a good time for our family. The hostess was super super helpful and nice! Thank you so much

Lovely location, beautiful home with plenty of room. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit, just too windy to safely have a fire. We explored the town and surrounding communities. A great place to reconnect with old friends.

Whether swinging on the front porch or sitting on the covered back porch the views of the beautiful countryside outstandinng. We enjoyed watching the horses and sitting around the fire pit.

Loved our time there. It was very clean. It did smell very faintly of smoke but it did not seem to bother our more sensitive breathers.
Wished that we could have been stayed longer!

The sunset & sunrises are absolutely beautiful!!
There were 9 of us that enjoyed the beauty & peacefulness of Serenity Heights!
The only negative was how difficult it was to open & close the patio door.

Secluded, quiet, peaceful. The property was the perfect quiet retreat to return to after family wedding festivities in the area. We traveled with our young children and they had a wonderful time playing outside. The porch swing as a favorite. We would love to come back!

House was very clean and comfortable. Plenty of seating inside and out and beautiful views of the rolling countryside. We spent much of our time around the firepit or covered front porch, we never even turned on the TV. LOL. Good strong internet provided if you want to stream. It's a short drive to Truro or Osceola for groceries and restaurants. I'll be back.

I am from Oklahoma and chose to stay here when we came to Iowa for my 94-year-old mother's memorial services in Grand River. This allowed my two daughter's families from Oklahoma and my daughter who now lives in Indianola to stay together during this time. Not a fun reason for a trip but the beauty and tranquility of Serenity Heights made it so much easier. We loved our stay there and the nightly circle at the fire pit (we only built a fire the last night as it was too hot until that evening!) was a favorite as we sat and shared memories. I can't say enough positive things. Clean, beautifully decorated, well equipped, family oriented, peaceful and so comfortable. I highly recommend Serenity Heights!!

This place was amazing. It was hard to go home since we loved it so much. Heather and Joel are the nicest, most accomodating hosts we have had the pleasure of experiencing. And any time we go to Iowa in the future we wouldnt want to stay any where else! Thank you for such an amazing place to vacation! Bless everything y'all do!

We had an amazing time. The owner was very fast in answering all of our questions. The house was super clean. No other property has this many beds. We had a men's retreat with me, my dad, 2 brothers, 2 sons, and three nephews. We each had our own place sleep. The fire pit was a great hang out spot. Lots of outdoor space for games. The horses were beautiful. We had a very nice time!

I highly recommend staying at Serenity Heights. Heather was an amazing host - easy to communicate with and accommodating of our large family. So many lovely places to gather...the back porch, the front porch swing, the fire pit...all of them with beautiful views! We will be back again.

We hosted a bachelor party here to get away from the city and slow down for a bit. The property is stunning and extremely well kept. The owners communicate extremely well and they are very hospitable. Love the views and the horses. Great spot for a retreat and to slow down. Would love to come back!

We loved staying at this property. We are from Des Moines and were looking for a getaway to unplug that was close to home but felt like a vacation- this was it! The house was clean and wonderfully designed for the landscape. We went with friends and together had 5 little girls that had a blast as well. The adjacent horse pasture made for a magical adventure when they migrated to the house in the morning and evening. Heather was responsive and friendly. We went to the Revelton Distillery one night, which was fun for the whole group. Our kids played with the provided board games while we tried a cocktail and all listened to great live music.
We will make this an annual event and would love to come back!

Anticipating our family trip, we wanted to find a place that took us away from our hectic lives to a peaceful place. We were fortunate to find Serenity Heights. The entrance and first sweet sight of horses with their foals brought such childlike awe; the porch swing was the perfect place to watch the sunset, the back porch a place to gather as the moon came into sight. We cooked together, enjoyed games, laughed and talked into the wee hours of the morning. It’s a time our family will cherish.

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home, but we spent most of our time playing games in the yard and just watching the horses as they lived their peaceful lives right in front of us! Day 3 of our stay, I was the first one up making a pot of coffee and just looking out the big kitchen window, when I saw one single horse up on top of the hill facing the house with his mane and tail blowing majestically in the wind! It was these little moments that repeated themselves over and over during our stay that will remain with us as we go back to our busy lives. Thank you for sharing this peaceful property!

Amazing location. Surrounded by the beauty of the countryside. Pictures do not capture the true wonder of the property both inside and out.

We had a lovely stay at Serenity Heights for my niece's wedding. I was able to prepare and bring food to the large wedding party by using that great kitchen. While waiting for the evening wedding, there was plenty of space to play games. We enjoyed visiting on the porch and watching the horses. The view is now on my cell phone home page!

This property is very nice, very clean, and well-maintained in a beautiful country setting. The name Serenity Heights is perfect—peaceful, with great views from its hilltop placement. It was the perfect place for us to meet and reconnect after not seeing each other—some for many years. One of the cousins spent every evening lounging on the swinging porch bed. (I think she wanted to take it home with her!) We enjoyed watching the horses—lots of colts (so cute!). Lazy breakfast on the back covered deck. We also enjoyed the little shops on the square in Osceola and Harvest Barn just east of town. Humeston was a fun place to go as well. But the majority of our time was spent relaxing, reminiscing, looking at old family pictures (& new), and catching up. Life’s too short not to enjoy a stay at Serenity Heights

Heather was a very welcoming host, very communicative as well. The property is absolutely stunning!! We fished at the ponds every day we were there and caught lots of fish. The house is beautiful!! Very clean, stocked with essentials and there was a spot for everyone to hang out! I loved the porch swing bed myself and spent a lot of time there! If we are ever back in Iowa, definitely going to book again!!

Heather and Joel were excellent host. Great communication and very nice people. The house was furnished with everything we needed, and it was very clean. Hope to be able to return for another stay sooner than later! No complaints at all with our stay.

Our stay was outstanding. The accommodations are better than described. The house is fully stocked with everything you need. Full kitchen supplies, towels, extra blankets, hair dryer! I brought supplies, but I didn't need to. The property is breathtaking and secluded making our stay so relaxing. It was exactly what we needed and far exceeded our expectations. I you are looking at this listing and reading this review, just book it now. You will not regret it.

Serenity Heights was all that we expected and more! My friends and I get together 3 to 4 times a year and have stayed in numerous vacation rental homes. We all agreed that this property was by far the most beautiful and nicest property we had stayed at. We loved it so much that we have already reserved it for another stay in the fall.

We came back again for Christmas this time. Everything was perfect. We love how everyone who stays generally chips in something wether it is spices left behind to paper towels and aluminum foil. It takes so much from the owners to keep this place so amazing, so we of course left extra stuff behind as well. Heather and Joel are beyond amazing. They even brought us a Christmas treat and made us feel very welcomed.

Our small family reunited for an early Thanksgiving and couldn't have asked for more from Heather and her beautiful home. We were very comfortable and definitely received some serenity during the stay - even with four small children. Heather was so helpful and even came to bring us something on a Sunday.
We are so grateful all the wonderful memories.
