About this cottage rental
Wouldn't it be nice for you to stay at a cottage that is a two-minute walk to the beach? You can find that if you stay at Calypso Cottage. You can hear the sound of the waves as you relax on the front patios' Adirondack chairs.
Calypso Cottage is unique in that it will offer you privacy when traveling with friends or extended family by having a second cottage on the property.
You enter into the main cottage by way of the bright, comfortable sunroom. As you enter, there is a great space to store your extra ice chests and coolers. From the sunroom, you enter into the main living area that encompasses the kitchen, dining, and living room. A small hallway gives you access to a full bath, a Master bedroom on the left and a twin bedroom on the right. The Master Bedroom will give you a queen bed and a full private bath. When you walk into the twin room you have a closet to hang your clothes and a trundle bed where you can pull out a second twin bed. If you need a bigger bed then the twin in the main cottage, you can use the queen pullout in the living room.
Walking out the back door, you follow the deck around to the side door of the cottage. You pass by a refreshing outdoor hot/cold shower where you can wash off the sand and sea from the day's outing.
You enter the second cottage through a small foyer, into a full bath, that leads to a spacious bedroom with a queen bed.
When you need to have some private time to yourself this cottage is a retreat. You have your own mini-frig, sink, and coffee pot for your use.
A small shed stores items to make your beach adventure more enjoyable. There are beach chairs, an umbrella, beach toys, a wagon and some firewood available for your use.
*** Please Make Note of the following***
Towels and Linens are not provided
Broadkill Beach is located in the National Prime Hook Preserve. It is a great area for swimming without waves, biking, kayaking, paddle boarding and taking walks on the beach. Broadkill is located about 20 minutes north of Lewes and all the major shopping outlets.

Our stay at this beach cottage was great! Nannette really thought of everything to make this place feel like home. Super clean and fun, inviting beach colors and decor. The bonus guest house is perfect for those who may want their separate space, but still be close by. It was really nice to have access to the bikes as well. Owner was responsive to questions and checked on us as well. The beach is a very short walk, as is the small store. We loved our time here!

The cottage is absolutely amazing in a quiet location. It was perfect for my family and everything was well organized and easily located. Nannette was very accommodating and made sure the trip went smoothly. We will definitely be returning to this cottage.

Nice and clean house, steps to beach for a visit with grandkids. Loved the separate cottage like in-law suite. Allowed some down time and privacy. Location was a short drive to Lewis, DE and perfect for nature lovers. The step down to the beach is a bit washed out, just have to watch your steps. However there is a public entrance a few blocks away and a small store to grab ice cream and a sandwiches.

My partner, my roommate, and I stayed here for a week with our fur babies in early October. It was everything we were hoping for and expecting. The weather was still perfect for lazy beach days. The property was perfect for us, especially as a couple with a friend. The separate suite was so nice for us to have privacy but still be able to come together as a group when we wanted to. I love the beach here, it’s quiet and cozy and great for fur family members. Lots of dog centric locals who weren’t bothered by friendly greetings from my wet and sandy Aussie. The house was incredibly clean, perfectly outfitted with all the necessities, all the modern touches, but still retaining all the retro charm you could ask for. Nannette was super communicative, incredibly responsive and available, and the keyless check in was a breeze. 10/10 we will absolutely be back.

Very comfortable and attractive cottage. Good communication with the host. Quite neighborhood. Nice beach for walking. Very convenient to have a store so close. Hope to visit again!

We really enjoyed our stay at calypso cottage. The home was great for me, my husband, our 2 year old child and our dog. The location and proximity to the beach was perfect! The beach itself was nice and quiet, and dog friendly. The neighborhood is also very nice to walk/bike. Broadkill beach is a little off the beaten path so the nearest stores (with the exception of the broadkill store) and town is about a 10-15 minute drive, which for us was fine. You can also venture to nice restaurants in Lewes, which was about 20 minutes away. The home was clean and well equipped. The bonus cottage was a nice plus as well. The only negative was the bugs. Even with lots of bug spray I still ended up getting eaten up. Regardless , I definitely still recommend calypso cottage and would love to visit again next summer!

Adorable cottage, well maintained and super clean! Steps from very quiet and dog friendly beach. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed and the suite out back was great for extra privacy. Host was great with communication.
Definitely pack some bug spray, as others have mentioned. We came prepared.
The area is quiet but close enough to Lewes/Rehoboth if looking for activities. We enjoyed taking the ferry from Lewes to Cape May for a day.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay. The quest cottage was perfect for our son & daughter-in-law with a young baby. Quick easy walk to the dog friendly beach. Very clean and lots of little things that made the vacay enjoyable - games for rainy day, beach chairs, bikes, etc.

Owner was terrific at responding instantly to texts, This cottage has been updated beautifully, It is spotlessly clean and within seconds to walking to beach, Only negative is the biting flies! recommend lots and lots of bug spray, Having the owners suite separate from cottage was a nice bonus, It’s a lovely place that soon will be totally rebuilt with high end beach homes,

First, my family and I loved everything about Calypso Cottage! Second, we loved the location-quiet, uncrowded, water/beach was perfect for swimming, lounging, reading and relaxing although we didn’t have much luck fishing during our stay. I highly recommend Calypso Cottage and Broadkill Beach for the perfect vacation to get away from it all! Can’t wait to return!

We absolutely loved our stay at Calypso Cottage. The house is just a few steps from the beautiful, quiet (and dog friendly!) beach. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly, and we practically had the beach to ourselves every day. Nanette was extremely communicative and responsive whenever we had an issue or question. The house is adorable, clean, and as seen in the pictures. Surrounding area is beautiful, with lots of great spots for bird watching. We definitely plan to come back here in the future!

Chose this location because the beach is dog friendly (off-leash). Owner made sure the check-in process was smooth. We had a great time exploring the area.

The house was even better in person. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and cookware, the beds are very comfy and the open floor plan is so fun for a gathering. There’s a grill, and the back cottage allowed us to put our baby down for bed early while we stayed up and made dinner and hung out in the main house. We brought 3 dogs and they loved going for walks around the area which is so quiet and relaxed. Will definitely be back again!!

This well-appointed gem offered the perfect spot for us to try a new place near the water. Super clean with lovely little touches throughout. The prismatic front door window offered a beautiful nightly glow as the sun shone through…really quite unique!
Owner was extremely communicative and helpful!

We had a wonderful time at Calypso Cottage. The cottage was clean and very close to the beach. Quiet, friendly area. Nanette was great. We realized we didn't have hot water the first morning we were there. She responded very quickly and fixed the problem within an hour. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing, quiet vacation near beach. Hoping to return again soon!

Would diffinetly stay here again. The home was spotless, and communicating was super easy and fast. Short walk to the bay, and I was able to get some great pictures each morning of the sunrise. Since it was off season it was super quiet and relaxing which is just what we needed. Rehoboth, Lewis, and Milton are a very easy drive.
Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Cute, beautifully equipped. And broadbill Beach is 3 houses away—not many people, gentle Bay conditions and beautiful sunrise .

This was really a great rental for us. Super close to Broadkill beach. Two lots back, but these are small houses, so it's only about one minute walk. And the beach here is deserted! Guess everyone is clogging up Rehoboth. So it was great to not be so crowded. There's a shed with beach chairs. Our car was packed, so it was nice not to have to bring chairs along.
The house facilities were great. Kitchen is pretty well equipped. Beds were great; towels are fluffy.
The same remoteness that makes the beach empty means that it's a bit of a drive to get anywhere. There's a small market about 200 yards from the house, but you have to leave the area for anything else. It's four miles to the main road and then another five minutes drive to Milton, or ten to Lewes. Maybe it's because we were there late in the season (mid-August) but things weren't super crowded in town either. We visited the Boardwalk, a water park, go-karts, and a few restaurants and there wasn't really a much of a wait for anything.

We stayed for 5 days and needed something that was a short walk to a semi secluded beach that was also a short drive to food/shopping. This hit the marks on what we were looking for and it was relaxing and fun. The beach was very short 3min walk. The beach itself was very nice and clean. The waves were gentle enough to float around in. Only down side was the occasional green flies that bite (bring bug spray). We also did some fishing on the beach and in the nearby creek. We also crabbed in the nearby creek (tons of crabs, bring your gear, ring pot is best!). As for the house, it was a very comfortable and updated cottage. It had everything we needed, the place is a little small but not so small that you were on top of each other. It was the perfect size for 4-6 people. Would definitely consider rebooking here.

The property has two separate living areas: a full cottage in front and a smaller cottage with just bedroom and bath in the back. The setup was perfect for a family with two young children and a grandfather who wanted at times a little more quiet and the option of sleeping in later than the grandchildren. The lovely beach, which was about a minute's walk away, was never crowded --- in fact, rarely was anyone within 100 yards of us. In all, this is an ideal place for a family vacation. It is emotionally far away for the craziness of Rehoboth and the other beach communities on the Delaware shore, while being just a short drive to restaurants and other attractions. If we ever return to Delaware, this property will be our first choice.
