It was very fun driving on the sandy beach to get to the home. The beach was so relaxing and the house had toiletries and a lot of bath towels. There was a TON of living space to hang. Horses and deer came right up to the house, it was so beautiful. The beds and couches were ver comfy.

We really enjoyed our time at the property. Overall, the property met our needs, including our two small dogs. Carova Beach isn't for the faint of heart - be prepared for the 4x4 driving on the beach. The house is about 8 miles from the last paved road in Carolla. This wasn't an issue for us, we had our F150 with 4-wheel drive. We absolutely enjoyed the time on Carova Beach - lots of relaxation, cooking dinners, watching the horses, walks on the beach with our dogs (and swimming), and hiking up to False Cape State Park. The large shells (including a full conch shell) were amazing. The house was extremely comfortable (including mattresses, and bedding). We ran into a few hiccups but we received quick responses to these and most were resolved during our stay. I would definitely recommend this property and I'm hoping that the Property Management Team will address the last of the minor items to make the house even-more perfect.

Wonderful lodging and a unique experience
Big house, that comfortably sleeps 2 “high count” families. Not just sleeps. Beautiful open spaces for a large group to move unobstructed around each other, enjoy the natural light that permeates the house, and the view from the wall-to-wall windows. Newly and pragmatically furnished and overstocked in the kitchen
The house is reachable only after a 15-20 drive on the beach or sandy road. This was almost harrowing on the night of our arrival, but wonderful fun every other time. This was our first experience of beach driving and we arrived after dark and at high tide - DON’T do that. Especially if you’re not experienced. But also don’t let this small challenge discourage you and alter your choice. You’d be missing out. Do better research than I did. The tricks of beach driving are not all intuitive. For example: I never would have thought that waiting for a wave to recede in order to drive around an obstacle is the right thing to do. In our case, it was a house built close to the water, and the driving advice was given to me by an official beach patrol member.
Although there are several good restaurant choices listed, we think in this case the most enjoyable meals are at the house. So stock up, relax, avoid the reservation process, the crowd, the drive and Enjoy! It was a great trip for us.

Carova is a very cool location to visit. Getting there definitely requires 4WD but it's worth it. The remoteness of the area, the quiet of the beaches, and seeing the horses and traces of other wildlife were all very cool.
Unfortunately the home had not been cleaned at all when we arrived. Beds were not made and linens were dirty from previous guests. It appeared no one had been in the home in a long time, perhaps months, as there was mold in the coffee machine and sand over all the floors. The water was not turned on when we arrived and I had to go and find the water valve to turn on the water in the home. We notified the owner immediately upon our arrival but did not hear back from the for about 24 hours. Cleaners were sent after we had been at the home for 36 hours, 1 day before we were to leave. Once cleaned, the home was fine but this very much tainted our experience.

Great week, property is exactly as described. Lots of space, nice kitchen. Easy stroll to the beach. Great shopping nearby, we brought a lot of food with us, wouldn’t do that next time. Wild horses visited property a couple of times. All in all great vacation.
One word of warning, it is 9.1 miles of beach driving to get to property, if you don’t have a 4 wheel drive you will not make it. All wheel drive doesn’t do it.
Prepare well and this is a great place. I would bring your own pots and pans, ones in house are a little worn.

I am thankful they reiterated that we needed a 4x4 vehicle etc because that was definitely necessary, with that said, it made for such an unforgettable experience. It was so cool driving right on the beach and the home itself was in great condition. It smelled good, was super clean and bright. I thought the goodie bag at the beginning was a nice touch with many things provided such as extra blankets, pillows, some starter materials such as paper towels, toilet paper, paper plates etc. Also some beach supplies was available in the closet. In comparison to the first house we stayed at during the first week of our visit and then this house, this home exceeded our expectations and stood out. Thank you for a great experience and stay!

Our group of 13 people (3 families with kids ranging from 6yo-17) stayed for a week. The property was just as described. The location was perfect, just off mile marker 22 and with direct access to the beach. The kids, even the youngest, were comfortable walking back and forth from the house to the beach. The outdoor shower and hose were great to get the sand off and keep the house clean (well, as clean as possible... there's always going to be some sand with kids and a beach). The house was well outfitted with linens, enough bedrooms for all, and enough kitchen ware for all. The open concept 3rd floor was great for the family in the evenings for meals, games, and music. The property manager was readily available at all times and check-in and check-out were automated and well run. The downsides... it's an older house that was refurbished. So, there were minor issues like a dishwasher that was unstable (we put in a couple of screws in the side per manufacturer recs to stabilize it), loose door handles, etc. All in all, I highly recommend the home. I would definitely stay again.

None
Some of the dining room chairs were wobbly and screws were falling out. The front door was broken the first couple days we were in the house and the dishwasher was never installed properly so when you opened the door the machine tipped forward.

Overall great experience
Our check-in/check-out process was very easy. The owner communicated well and was great to work with. The house was very clean and updated beautifully, which made it very comfortable to stay in for the week! This house does not have a pool or hot tub which we knew going into it. Being that the house was oceanfront we didn’t feel we would have used a pool much anyway. However, I would have loved to sit and soak in a hot tub at night! That would be a terrific addition to the property.
Also, there isn’t a grill on the property. We purchased our own and brought it to the house. Not a big deal, but wanted people to know prior to arrival so they would be able to do the same.
Overall, we had a great week. We were more than pleased with our accommodations.
