We loved our stay. Brett was really welcoming and caring, everything was clean and super comfortable. The place was well set up, had everything we needed and little extras like sounds system or the verandah with the sound of nature and birds. It was very relaxing stay and we will come again when coming to KI.

Bretts Nest Nel
WOW what a place
Close and convenient to Kingscote, KIBrewery, the town and Emu Bay the list goes on
It was peaceful but lovely to hear the blue wrens singing in nearby bushes
Chase Brett's dog was fun to have around as I was missing mine
It was clean and comfortable with everything we needed after a long drive from WA
The projector screen was a highlight and amazing to watch the tennis final on it had great speakers to listen to our music from
Brett was a friendly, respectful host who would have gone out of his way if needed to make our stay there perfect
I look forward one day coming back to sit around the fire and take time to look at the stars

The location was great for exploring the rest of Kangaroo Island.
I recently stayed at Brett's Rest Nel accommodation with my two young children and best friend during the school holidays. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of our expectations.
The lack of air conditioning made the house unbearable during the scorching summer temperatures. Despite an earlier check-in, the sweltering heat made it impossible to find respite inside. The provided cooler was insufficient, and we were advised to use it sparingly.
Privacy was compromised due to the owner's permanent caravan being located within 10 meters of the cabin. It felt like we were constantly being watched. Additionally, the neighboring cabin further diminished any sense of privacy.
Cleanliness was a major concern. The property was not adequately cleaned, leaving us feeling uncomfortable. The blinds did not work, and there was an exposed window in the kitchen facing the owner's living quarters.
Furthermore, I found it inconsiderate that the owner knocked on the door at 9pm, despite knowing that we had two young children, one of them being an infant. This disrupted our evening routine and caused unnecessary disturbance.
While there were some positive aspects, such as the owner's friendly dog and the property being advertised as pet-friendly, the lack of a fenced area required us to board our dog at a veterinary clinic.
In conclusion, the uncomfortable living conditions, lack of privacy, inadequate amenities, and the inconsiderate late-night disturbance overshadowed any positive aspects. Potential guests should be aware of these shortcomings before booking. The owner should address the issues mentioned to improve the overall quality of the property for future guests.
Regrettably, I cannot recommend Brett's Rest Nel accommodation based on my experience. I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for the owner to make necessary improvements.

Peaceful , rural, quiet, clean.
There was only one thing that bothered , as oldies, greatly, the mattress was too hard, we ached all over.

The outside fire pit was wonderful. We enjoyed sitting around it with a drink after a hard day sightseeing. It's such a lovely quiet location so you can breath in the relaxation. If outside isn't your thing then there's a fire in the inside/outside area just waiting to be enjoyed along with the sound system and lights while you make a drink at the bar. If we return to KI we'll stay here again and have recommended it to friends.

The location and being dog friendly was perfect for us. I loved every moment of it! star gazing and a nice toasty fire to keep you warm! didn't even turn the TV on once we were just too busy enjoying the peacefulness.

Great location, spacious and private. I love the layout of the cabin, with separate areas that worked well for our family with young kids.

very cute little setup, sleeps 4 with a sofa bed. would ideally be good with another bed but was still fine for our use. Fireplace was great and was used everyday
Just a few minor things. We liked the property as whole but the cleanliness could of been a bit better. still was fine but seems it just needed a good deep clean in some areas.

The location is great. It's very close to Kingscote and reasonably removed from most tourist attractions. The house is a little unusual, it is not an ordinary cabin, but it is comfortable, in a quiet area, close to the ocean. Fully equipped kitchen, heaters, TV set with Netflix and some other paid channels. We had a great time. Thank you!

This place is amazing. Ok it's a 1 bedroom but it's a huge room with a bathroom connected, of the bedroom is a massive entertaining room with fire place, large lounge and a bar, loaded to the hilt with all sorts of things to do. Off the entertaining room is a large kitchen fully loaded with all the cooking utensils you will need with a lounge and TV. We were that busy doing outdoor adventures that the tv did not get turned on at all. When we return to Kangaroo Island in a few year we are hoping to beable to book this unit again.
It was great I have no negative feed back.

I liked everything about the place, it was such a great place to just chill out away from the hustle and bustle of the city. i would seriously go back tomorrow if i could afford the time off of work. Brett is an incredibly easy man to talk to, he was very helpful on the phone and guided me through a few of the intricate things of the place i.e bar lights and neons.
My favourite part about it is the fact the front of the unit opens up and allows you to be in outdoor bliss from the comfort of the couch in the bar area. There is television facilities there, but i didnt need to use them as i was just taken back by the wonders of outside and the local animals coming through to say hello0 like the kangaroos in the morning and the barn owls at night.
I rate this place an astounding 100/10, would go back for sure!!!
there isn't really anything that i didn't like, it has everything you need. i think if you go there with the feeling of being spoiled while away, then spend thousands of dollars in Bora Bora or something, Brett's Rest, is the perfect place for YOU time, there is a fire under the stars, there is a bar area, and the front opens up. it is a tranquil retreat!!

The bar/lounge area.

The property was very well equipped and had a very comfortable feel. There was plenty of space to relax and just enjoy the moment. It had some very unique features that really put it above other properties such as the entire lounge wall opening up to blend the outside with the lounge, bar and fireplace. Overall super cozy.

Nice value for money with the living facilities that were provided and the place had great niche extra facilities to offer - the main lounge area is well kitted out with a bar, fantastic surround stereo system, fireplace, mood lighting and even a darts board. Fantastic support and assistance by the host as well.
You really need good weather and to spend some quality time at the house to make the most of the place - the main lounge area is well sheltered but isn't fully sealed and while if you are settling in for an evening you can get a fire cranking to heat up the place, you can't turn a fire on and off if you have a busy schedule and are coming and going a lot. And the space is a lot nicer if you can open up the tarp wall and enjoy the fresh air and daylight when you can.

It's close to downtown and most everything.
Very drafty with some areas not having screens so bugs can easily come in. It constantly sounds like someone is trying to break in with the front "wall" just being canvas material with a screen door that rattles in the wind. The bedroom door wouldn't close so no way to avoid the cold and noise from the middle room.
