The hotel staff were available, helpful, and friendly throughout the stay. The location is perfect. Even though it’s an older hotel, they keep it maintained nicely. Lighting in rooms could be better. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel itself was very nice. The room was comfortable, the pool was fun, and the continental breakfast was the best I've had in any hotel. (Chocolate waffles!?) Sadly, the visit ended on a sour note. While we were trying to get ready to check out, the sink in our room started backing up with smelly brown sludge. We called the front desk who said they would send someone up immediately. No one came. Since that was the only sink in the room, it made getting ready there impossible. I had to finish getting ready in the car. When we had finished loading our bags and went to turn in our keys, we showed the lady at the desk the pictures of the sludge and reminded we had called down about this issue nearly an hour ago and no one ever came. When we left the room the sink was nearly full. The only response we got was, "oh, that isn't good. Sorry about that." Really? I've attached a photo of the sludge the first minute it started backing up. I didn't take pictures of the full sink, but it got even more dense and gross.

Friendly Staff, Clean Rooms, that's where it ends.
The hotel walls are paper thin, you can hear EVERYTHING your neighbor is doing (for example, say they come back drunk at 1:00 AM and fight until 4:00 AM, you hear every word),
They are lacking charge plugs, our room had a blanked out faceplate between the beds, we had to charge all our stuff on the sink (the one on the lamp doesn't work for rectangle plugs).
Location is great, but if you want sleep and not hear everything going on, skip it.

Great hotel! We go to Durango at least once a year for the last 15 years and never found this gem. The rooms are super cozy and the breakfast was 👌. The dining space is a little small and can get very busy so be prepared to eat brrakfast early or in your room. Not a huge deal. The pool was super fun for the kids and the hot tub was wonderful after a day at Purgatory. Coffee station was kept clean and well stocked. Happy hour was every adults favorite part especially the comped drinks. This hotel is walking distance to everything downtown (Polar Express is 5min walk) and the Mexican restaurant 2 minutes away is great! Definitely recommend!

Room was decent and clean. Did have two problems with the room. The air conditioner wouldn't turn off and ran all night and the air vents push the air to top of each bed so we froze. Got maintenance involved and they had us do the thermostat in different mode but then we were too warm because air conditioner didn't turn on and off very well. Had some tv issues. Parking is packed in. Great location to stay if you're wanting to be near downtown eating and shopping. Only 2 to 3 blocks walk to Durango to Silverton train which was great for us. Hot Breakfast is very good. Front desk said they plan to remodel and refurbish rooms soon... that will be better.

Very friendly and helpful. There was a winter storm that came on our route afterwards and they where very helpful in road conditions. Also probably the best breakfast spread i have seen in quite a while

We stayed 3 nights. The location is quiet but close to town and the Durango/Silverton train station. Our room had a balcony. I would avoid rooms that face the indoor pool. Breakfast was excellent - great selection of items. Nice happy Hour also!! We will stay at another Best Western Plus because of the experience at this location.

The picture is nothing like the actual property, it was outdated, the TV didn't work when we got to the room and the a/c didn't cool the room. The morning shower wasn't warm or even hot, it kept going from warm to cold after my husband took his shower. Also, it appears they are cutting corners with their shampoo, conditioner, and lotion and soap being in large bottles and the smell of these products is not good. The microwave was discolored yellow (that is how old it is). Just not impressed, told the staff of our experience and received no reply. So, I wouldn't be placing this review if there would have been a reply or something from the property.

There is road and other construction going on around the hotel that make getting to it and out of it inconvenient. There were so many loud, obnoxious bikers in the hotel and lobby area. It really affected the quality of our stay as we could hear them partying and talking loudly late into the evening.
In the positive, the hotel was very clean and the staff were nice and friendly behind the desk. Bed was also pretty comfortable.
The negatives go beyond the loud bikers and road construction. The air conditioning in the room was super loud and blew straight at the bed. My sister and brother said it was the same in their rooms, too.
Finally, I accidentally left a nice white travel pillow in the room. I called and was told cleaning staff didn’t turn it in. I know it was left in the room on the bed so I asked them to check to see if it was possibly mixed in with the dirty linens and ask the cleaning staff again rather than just looking to see what had been turned in thus far. They said they would and would call me back. I had to call again three times over the course of two days. And each time they said they hadn’t checked yet, but would and would call me. They never did - that made me madder than my pillow being stolen.
The reason for not rating it lower is the I recognize that the construction and sheer number of bikers probably aren’t long term issues.
The air conditioning issue, noise echoing through the atrium, and lack of staff follow up and honestly is problematic.

The pool and the hot tub were awesome. We liked being on the first floor, but our room was right off the side entrance, and it ended up feeling like we were in a cave. The window for the room overlooked the semi-dirty side entrance ( a power wash would make this better) but if we opened the shade it looked right into our bathroom area.
The double glass doors could have made up for the lack of an open window but then if the blinds were up everyone who walked past into the lobby or out the side entrance could see into our room. Though it was nice to have a view of the pool we really could not enjoy it.

Staff were friendly and helpful! Parking was a bit tricky but if you arrive early it shouldn’t be a problem. Would stay again

We were traveling with our small dog, and the property has a large area to allow dogs to meet, greet and take care of business. I think we are the only guests that clean up after our dog however.

We enjoyed the complimentary drinks for happy hour and the pool. Easy walkable location was great downtown. Will be nicer when construction next to it is complete. Property is a bit worn out but still had a nice stay. Comfortable.

Nice location to walk in to downtown Durango. Indoor pool and hot tub were a real plus. Lower level room we had didn't have a balcony so we were allowed to change to a second floor room that had a balcony with a mountain view.

A great location, though a little dated. Still clean and well kept.

Happy hour compliment drinks are good service. Pool, Jacuzzi water could be little bit cleaner. Cleaning service probably left door open while they were cleaning out room. When we came back, we found more than 20 black little bugs in the room.

The property is in a great location for the railroad, restaurants and shopping. The staff were friendly. The room seemed clean. The pool and hot tub in the atrium area are nice especially for families with young children. The downsides are it is somewhat of an aged building so the rooms were a bit cramped. It was difficult to find working plugs to charge electronics. There was no Smart TV available. The AC units are very loud so it makes it difficult to sleep.

Nice hotel and great staff. The front desk sent a text after check in to make sure we had everything we needed in the room. Hotel is a little dated but rooms are clean and beds are comfy. Walls are a bit thin so you can hear the occasional noisy neighbor.

Staff was great but the AC and refrigerator in my room were so loud i didn't sleep at all

Very nice! Room was clean and staff was so amazing! Bought too much stuff on vacation...post office has closed for the night. Staff collected my extra items and mailed them home for me. Happy hour with free drinks and we got to meet some other peoplemeet some

Exhaust fan in bathroom does not remove steam from shower. The walk in shower is great.
No internal stairwells, only 1 elevator.

Cracker box room. Tiny. The AC unit was loud. The internet in the room was slow. The view out the window was of a cement drainage ditch. We ran out of body wash I requested this of the front desk twice to no avail. The manager compensated me $150.00. I spent over $2,000.00. for the two rooms for four nights. I should have been compensated more like $500.00. This was a terrible experience.

Loved that we could walk Durango, go to restaurants, and come back to relax in the hot tub

The only thing lacking was handicapped parking spaces. There are only 2.

We loved our stay, the place was clean and staff was very friendly. Close to everything in town we wanted to do.

I’m sure y’all know staff wise, y’all’s elevator gets stuck at the second level and you can’t call for it from the 1st or 3rd floor

The front desk employees were efficient and professional, as well as helpful answering questions.
The unique design of the enclosed pool area was convenient for families, but the strong chlorine smell was
bad. I didn't like the surrounding area with construction going on.

A nice convenient location and easy to get in and out of

This hotel was awesome. The room was clean and plenty of towels. We didn't use the pool but it looked very nice and saw it being maintained in the morning. Breakfast was way better than we had expected. Food was continually filled and the staff were very friendly. The hotel was located so that we parked our car when we arrived and didn't move it until we were ready to leave Durango. We walked to dinner, stores and the train. We also did our laundry so that we wouldn't have to do it on our way home to PA. I would recommend this hotel as a great family place.
2.5
Odd design of hotel with all 3 stories of rooms facing a central open courtyard with the pool in the middle. Sound echoed terribly and could hear children playing in the pool. Hotel is aware of problem and provides ear plugs in the room. Other than that reasonably comfortable bed. Excellent location to historic downtown and train station and restaurants. Adequate parking.
