Booked and paid for a suite with a double bed, on the day of the stay I was called and told there had been a maintenance issue and that room wasn’t available.
And check in when I asked, I was told that they had overbooked and I had been moved to a standard double, so someone had lied.
No offer of compensation or even a refund for the additional I had paid.
When i got to the room its was single beds so myself and finance had to book elsewhere.
Tried to check out and no staff could be found at the desk to do so, so I left my card and went.

Comfortable hotel for one night business stopover. Disappointed to find no dinner service available in the restaurant.
Nice breakfast.

A nice enough hotel let down by noisy residents. My room overlooked the front entrance and people were out there all night smoking and talking so audibly that I couldn’t get to sleep. My partner‘s bedroom, which was at the back of the hotel had constant footfall in the corridor, again from noisy residents who had obviously been on a night out.

The check in was very slow as we had to wait 10 minutes behind other guests. Breakfast was excellent . Overall good value gor money

Fantastic hotel with great staff.

We went from an old and moldy hotel in Samlesbury and we thought it couldnt get worse.... But it did. This hotel has not been renovated for decades I assume. Uncomfortable room with old furniture, horible shower and smelly old carpets. I do not recommend this hotel for travelers that are sensitive to mold.

Hotel needs a good refurbishment and although the staff that where there who are lovely there aren’t enough if them

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds with a reservoir walk behind. The man at check in didn’t have much to say, we had a room in the annex which was clean but a little tired, the shower was poor but the bed was comfortable. The lady on reception at check out was really friendly. I would stay there again but would request a room in the main hotel. P.s The white crow a mile down the road does good food

The staff are lovely here and everyone was very helpful from reception to the night manager and the cleaners. The hotel is old and so yes it is an old interior especially in the bathrooms. The spa etc is not open but tbh we didn’t visit for that. The outside is grand but probably needs a bit of TLC as does all of it really but for the price you can’t complain. Very comfortable room but the main drawback of our stay was the couple in the room next to us kept fighting and the walls are quite thin. It wasn’t nice to be awoken at 4am to a man shouting “when you are with me you want me but when you go home you want him”… free entertainment I guess.

First class service in a quiet location. Staff appropriately dressed, exceptionally helpful & polite. Will definitely be back.

We had an overnight stay. There was a problem with the door. As we left early we had to leave the door open as we didn't want to disturb other guest banging the door closed.

The hotel was in a dire state. Ridiculously short staffed. The staff who were there were, however, very pleasant and professional, just hardly any. they'd shut the pool, gym and restaurant, This wasn't apart on other booking sites, they said it was on the hotel website. The only way I can describe this, once lovely hotel, is SAD

Disappointed with where i was put. I thought i was being allocated a ground floor room in the hotel as i had a very small dog. However, i placed in an a building attached by a walk way to the hotel and was put on the top floor. The hotel boasts is spent a significant amount of money on the hotel in refurbishments, but this section of the hotel hasnt been touched. There was a water station on the top floor that was broken, the one on the ground floor didnt work either.
There was no information sheet in the room but there was a not to say if you want fresh milk call room service, there was no phone in the room!
When i got there after being stuck in traffice for hours on end, i asked about food, there was no food as restaurant was closed.
The hotel grounds are stunning. The building stayed in felt like you were shoved out of the way.

The staff at this property were outstanding - every single one of them from the minute we walked through the door - advising us on where we could get our sons laundry done(he was in the middle of a lands end to John o groats bike ride) they even set up the gardeners hose for him to clean his bike. The whole experience was amazing - we ended up booking our son another night so he could recover before the rest of his journey. Thanks to everyone!!!

Very quiet location. Away from houses and shops. Landscaped gardens, lovely scene to wake up to. Quite old main building but lots of later additions including breakfast room which is a large conservatory. All the staff were so friendly. I know it has only recently reopened and I hope people will choose to stay. You need a car really, a few miles from town. We enjoyed staying, high points water machine near room with still and sparkling..better than 1 bottle!! Full cooked breakfast included and nice little lounge with bar. Downside…stairs if you have mobility issues..high step to get in front door and at present no evening food…but great pub nearby!!

Beautiful house!

We were not impressed with the first room 415. We were given another room 402. Both rooms were supposed to be deluxe. I rate them as standard. We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions and we were happy with the accommodations but have noticed a decline in the normal high standards. Staff were helpful and friendly.

We picked the hotel specifically because it had pool. On arrival we were told the pool was out of order which was really upsetting for my child. No explanation given.
Staff were lovely. Room was clean.

the property is in a lovely woodland area with lake view but the view was limited with a new high boundry fence.

Very pleasant hotel and nice room. minor irritants such as only a bedside cabinet and lamp on one side of the bed and had to ask for additional toilets roll.

Where to start, very little choice of drinks behind the bar, I’m guessing due to it closing in a couple of days. Paint flaking off the ceiling . But is nothing compared being locked out of the grounds of hotel at night and not been able to gain access. We had to bust the lock of the gate to gain access, not sure how an ambulance would have got in .
The hotel is being prepared to house illegal migrants.

Okay but expensive for what it is.

The hotel is stunning. Loved the history. Eating in the large conservatory was a joy. The bar was amazing too and grounds just beautiful. Staff could not be more helpful. Thank you. The whole experience helped alleviate an otherwise stressful time.

Really nice surroundings and facilities. The building is showing it’s age and my room was showing it’s age (toilet roll holder hanging off the wall, sealant, old TV). Breakfast really hearty and staff very friendly.

One night business stay. Lovely quite location but only 5 mins drive from nearest shops/supermarkets.
Better gym facilities than a lot of places I've stayed in with a Jacuzzi & small pool.
Very pleasant hotel with nice grounds.
Helpful staff. If I'm in the area I would stay again.

The hotel itself is needing some upgrades for example my room door lock was hanging off. Staff were nice and helpful though but sending an email directly to the hotel
