The hotel folks were friendly and The Bard is centrally located--both pluses. But the rooms are basic and more than a bit down-at-the-heels. Definitely not worth >$200/night, even for Ashland.

This property is pretty tired and down at the mouth but the staff were exceptionally helpful.
4.4
Great room, a little small compared to the pic but overall a good room in a great location. Walking distance to downtown which is a huge plus
4.4
Nice place. Will stay again.
4.4
A well maintained property very convenient to the downtown and park area.
4.4
Very friendly staff and perfectly located.

Reception staff was excellent. Our room was located on the bottom floor and the walls were paper thin. We could hear the people in the room next to us sneezing and the people upstairs sounded like they were stomping but it was likely just thin building materials. AC unit was dated and noisy. Not a hotel it was a motel. Included breakfast was fit for a camping trip for small children, not humans who eat food. Would not stay again.

My only complaint was the beds, there was a definite slope on both beds. Also we weren’t there for TV, but had a hard time operating it. Could need chsnge of batteries

Great rooms and great location

We’ve stayed in Ashland many times over the last several years and never tried out Bards. Well this place must have been great 20 years ago. Now the wallpaper is peeling, the air conditioner sputters in and out of life, and the wall where the fridge and tv were plugged in just lost power for no apparent reason, never to come back on. The beds were uncomfortable and hard to sleep on. This was a motel charging for upscale hotel prices just because it had (poorly displayed) Shakespeare “art” plastered everywhere. The whole place came off as old, cheesy, and unkempt. Avoid this place and stay at Ashland Springs for a much better old style hotel feel; this one was trying too hard and failed. Never again.

Very convenient, walking distance to the plays.

The wallpaper was peeling off the walls. One chair was missing a foot. The AC was terrible. No glasses or real mugs. Dated. For the price I was expecting much more. The gentleman behind the desk was very nice.
4.4
Perfect location close to town. I parked my car on arrival and walked everywhere. The kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Breakfast was good with a lot of standard options. If you want great coffee walk to town to Mix. The housekeeping staff was amazing and kept the property and rooms tidy. The AC worked really well. I’d definitely stay again.

Excellent location for walking downtown.

Excellent!

This is a nice location to stay to explore downtown Ashland and to be your base for attending plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival complex; it's about a 7-minute walk. It is also convenient to many restaurant choices and other downtown activities. As a property, it is a pretty typical Best Western experience, average quality rooms, lousy cheap breakfast and plastic cups in the rooms...no glassware. The plastic cup use has to go for environmental reasons, and...guests should never have to drink their beverages out of a plastic cup wrapped in plastic film. At the prices BW is charging, they need to bring back re-usable decent quality glassware.

For the price we paid, the beds were awful. Felt like sleeping in a crater, the dip in the mattress was so bad next to the nightstand. I eventually rolled to the other side and the crater wasn’t bad there. Terrible night sleep. The balcony on the suite has one plastic chair and an ashtray. Why would you encourage guests to smoke right by everyone’s room? The pool was also very poorly filtered. Lots of debris.
The location is nice, the room was clean, the breakfast was fine. Staff was nice. I told them about the beds in our room at the front desk. Maybe it was just our room? They said sorry and made a note of it.
Overall, it’s a skip for us next time we’re in Ashland.
4.4
Great location and staff. Breakfast not good.
4.4
Great location. Unfortunately, I could hear the people walking around all night in the unit above mine. Consider requesting a top floor unit.
4.4
Great locaton. Park your car and walk to theater, restaurants, and shops. Nice pool that our grandkids loved.Nice free breakfast too.

Beautiful stay.

Room was very nice but shower did not drain. Waited for repair which apparently was not possible and was forced to move to a different room, which was not comparable to first room. Forced to pay the full amount and was told Expedia would handle the promised discount - a complete mistruth. Spent our vacation holding them accountable by going back and forth between hotel and Expedia. Finally got the promised discount.

After driving 5 hours and arriving in triple digit heat I was checking in. I asked if I could charge my car at recharge station which is up against a wall. I parked and plugged in. The person from the front desk asked me to move my car even closer to the wall so others could park. There was plenty of room on the other side of my car to park. They also said I said my own name wrong when checking in. The person I was with said I did not say my name incorrectly. I know it’s kind of petty, but it just wasn’t very welcoming especially when you’re spending nearly $300/night.

I stay here often when passing through Ashland. The location is perfect for waking to downtown. The rooms are nothing special but totally fine. The pool is tiny and close to the road but my kids still like that’s it’s an option. Basic breakfast is free. Mostly it’s the amazing location- a few steps from tons of great restaurants and Lithia Park- that makes this place a gem.
4.4
Location wins, staff was helpful. Very dated, and costly considering.
4.4
EV chargers on site was a big bonus.
4.4
Decent rooms but on the smaller side. Felt a bit worn but still clean. No blanket with sheet, just the bedspread which I don’t typically leave on a hotel bed. Parking was easy and ample and their breakfast was everything you could want - eggs, sausage, bagels, muffins, yogurt, granola, cereal, etc.
Would stay again when in the area especially with the proximity to Lithia Park and town.

It’s very close to everything!

Loved that it was very fast and easy going check-in!!!

Wow this hotel is CONVENIENT!!! We actually splurged and got an incredible room. It was massive! Much bigger than we needed for just 2 friends (we had no clue it was going to be so big). It was one of those corner suites with balcony and a huge jetted tub. The pictures online did not do the enormous size justice. Ironically, we splurged so we could have a balcony, but the balcony was small and underwhelming, and if your neighbors were on their balcony, you'd all be hanging out together because the divider is just a low iron-type gate (elbow level when seated). With how huge this room was, I would think they'd put in some features to make it so you could easily add in extra people (such as making the small sofa a single pull out). This room would be a great size if we had perhaps a couple more friends with us, but unfortunately with just the one King Sized bed there wouldn't be a place to sleep for more, though there is certainly space. Obviously the jetted tub in the middle of the room means it targets couples (the shower is private with the toilet).
But my goodness the location cannot be beat! If you are going for the Shakespeare festival, or close access to the cute downtown shops, this just steps away from it all! Once in position there is no need to move your car!
The hotel has dog-friendly rooms and also a provided breakfast. I believe there are 3 different buildings, so for us to get to the breakfast we had to cross the street (which was fine for us).

Love the Bard's Inn. Every time we come to Ashland this is where we stay.

Reserved via Expedia, showed up and wanted a room with patio or balcony. the front desk wasn't helpful with me or with Expedia. I left and drove home four hours as I knew I wouldn't be comfortable. Had stayed there three years ago with a nice room and staff.

A great location for enjoying the
shakespeare festival

We enjoyed that it was an easy walk to get to the OSF. Its proximity to downtown was wonderful.
4.4
Very old room nothing like the picture on the booking - air conditioner was extremely noisy and needed as it was super hot in Ashland. Wouldn’t stay there again.
4.4
Was a great place to stay and walk to everything in Ashland

We were given an enormous room! Two sitting areas, plus a jacuzzi-type bathtub in the living space, as well as a shower in the bathroom.
4.4
Funny odor in room. Smelled like BO. Great location though
