Went away for my birthday. Plans were cancelled due to bad weather. Facilities brilliant. The staff went above and beyond and were amazing and made our stay even better. The food is nice but a bit expensive. The hotel is absolutely beautiful.

A beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. It is an enormous building and can take four minutes to walk from one end to the other, usually up and down a lot of stairs!
Didn't realise that rooms are only made up every three days, unless you request otherwise. Disappointing for a four star hotel. Will know in future!

Lovely convenient stay whilst at a wedding locally at Kedleston Country House. Stayed comfortably as a family of 5 in one room. Lovely breakfast and enjoyed a swim in the morning.

The hotel was nice but its age was evident in the room, furnishings, uneven bathroom floor etc. We booked a suite as we had our two year old with us and thought it would give him a bit of extra room to play in the morning. We ended up having to keep him sat on a bed or sofa, though, as the lady downstairs complained that we were too noisy - we weren't being loud so I can only assume she heard every step we made, and toddlers do a lot of running about! The restaurant was nice, we had our evening meal and breakfast there. Someone was arrested outside our window at around 4am, which was a little noisy but not the hotel's fault. I didn't find the bed or pillows very comfortable. Our room had no overhead lighting except in the bathroom, it was all lamps, which made doing makeup etc to get ready for a wedding a little less easy. It's a nice, old hotel, but I wouldnt choose to stay here again i don't think.

We had a good hotel stay and a nice meal at the restaurant. Very scenic and lovely garden.
Reason for 3 stars (sorry) :
Lots of noise in the corridor from other guests at all times of day and night.
Our room was at the farthest end, so loads of walking around the maze like corridors.
Parking was plentiful but difficult, due to many large cars taking up too much space. Again, had to walk a long way to our room from the car park.
Beds were not very comfortable.

We had a great time and the staff were excellent especially Jamie the Iron Grill manager who helped us have a family get together even when the restaurant was full

Hotel ground etc are lovely. Lots of amenities. Room was abit dated but clean enough. Shower was poor really. Food really nice but quite expensive. Breakfast was fantastic self serve hot and cold buffet. I used the gym which is abit dated but did the job and the sauna which was great.

We recently stayed for one night as a family with two young children and the hotel were very welcoming and accommodating, however I’d say most of the guests are adults on spa and golf weekends. They were really great at providing crayons and drawing at breakfast and one lady was very friendly to my two little ones.
The swimming pool was shut during our stay which was a shame because I’d booked it his hotel especially as it had a pool and I wasn’t made aware until after I’d already booked with no cancellation option, but we still had a great stay anyway. Beds were comfortable and we loved the two double bed set up. Great location for exploring around the area too.

We had the most amazing stay for our wedding night. It was magical.

Grounds of hotel deceive you into thinking this is more up market than it is! Stayed here when it was Marriott eight years ago and nothing has changed in terms of the rooms.
Did what it need to do for a night stay but the rooms and bathroom really outdated.
Beds uncomfortable and pillows agony exhausted in the morning!
No sound proofing so lots of door slamming and external noise carry.
Plus side staff lovely and breakfast reasonable.

Great location and beautiful character property but the rooms require updating to modern standards.

We had a wonderful stay, mostly thanks to the Breadsall team who did so much to make us feel welcome. The location was ideal and our rooms were comfortable and the restaurant on site was great.

Nice location out of town. Good food, facilities, and grounds. Poorly designed building with a lot of steps to get around and to rooms
3.0 / 5.0
Unfortunately the hotel, possibly due to age, did not have air conditioning. Instead a small fan was provided which did nothing to alleviate the high temperature in the room.
The bed mattresses were also disappointing and clearly were old and lumpy making for an uncomfortable nights sleep.
The rest of the room, whilst tidy, looked tired and was in need of renovation, especially the bathroom which appeared to have suffered a flood at some point.

Amazing hotel and great service. The spa area and the steam room need servicing and guests should be warned if they have allergies. Would be happy to stay again.

Arrived at hotel to the sound of Elvis blasting over the golf course. A wedding in progress.
The restaurant was expensive slow, under staffed and not well equiped. Choice of drinks was limited due to running out of wines and water jugs. Food has good.
Chips and menus left under the tables, making the restaurant look unclean.
Room was nice with a great view, but the walls are paper thin, so we heard everything next door. Next doors guests decided to fight at 2am. Great.
Leisure facilities A+.
Breakfast was a buffet, but was nice.
Overview, ok hotel, but too busy and under staffed.
Could do better.

Cons
Shower leaked.
Taps weren't secure.
Curtain track not positioned to allow curtains to shut out the whole of the sun.
No shower gel (rang twice to get some)
Took 48 hours to return a call to enquire about the services availability that are advertised on the website.
Pros Room was however very clean.
Pool very clean and staff friendly.

The Priory is one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed in. The grounds were gorgeous and our room was immaculate. My friends and I had a fantastic time walking the walking trails! The cast iron restaurant was also delicious, the staff were very kind and considerate! Would recommend to anyone who wants a relaxing visit to the midlands.

First impressions of the hotel are very good, with its impressive site and it being part of the well-known country club.
For the age of the building, the place is in remarkable condition. The hotel rooms are in great condition and all look surprisingly new. Wonderful views are available from the top floor and walks through the grounds and gardens on the ground floor.
Food is excellent and very attentive, professional and courteous staff throughout the hotel. Ultimately, high marks and definitely a recommendation for the future.

Nice hotel that i would use again. However i was place on a room at the extremities of the hotel where there are several blocks of rooms. Unfortunately the signage to rooms apart to have been done from a perspective of those taking the long walk from the reception. Most folk though jump back in their car and drive to the carpark at the far end of the hotel (yes, it's that far). Entering from that carpark there's only a few signs that don't cover directions to every room in the blocks, for example 350 etc.
If you are looking for a great hotel, don't let this put you off. If you with at the hotel, enter from the far carpark and check off that the signage in the door points to all the rooms at them end of the block and rectify where necessary. Thanks.

Not the luxury stay we were expecting at all!
The grounds and golf course are excellent but the hotel is a 3 star at best!
We booked a Suite top of the option available, we wanted the best and thought we would get that given the cost. We were given a suite in The Mews the old stable block not the main hotel. Fine but basic and old. Room 222. Noisy we could hear everything happening in the next room and I mean everything! Day 2 I smelled an awful pong coming from the closet. Day 3 it make my stomach turn and I requested a room change. The receptionist was so understanding and lovely I showed her what we actually booked and she moved us into a Priory Room 305 straight away. This was the room I expected to begin with. Shame it was our last 2 nights but it was much nicer.
Afternoon tea was average no choice of tea blends or champagne.
Breakfast was good but service poor not enough staff and paper napkins!
Overall an expensive dissppintment we will not return.

It was absolutely fantastic, enjoyed the spa too. Clean room, polite staff and amazing location, green goodness everywhere and a nice garden. Only downside is that they only had complimentary cookies on Friday at the reception. 😇
