This hotel is in the perfect spot, short walk to both the new and old town! Beautiful view of the castle! Staff were lovely and helpful. Will be planning to come back in the future!

Great hotel.

Breakfast was below standard, rooms deserve renovation, cost/performance ratio is inadequate

We stayed two nights at the hotel at end of May 2024 as part of a tour of Scotland. The hotel is located fairly close to most of the tourist type attractions in Edinburgh but does not have the charm of older hotels. The room was clean and comfortable and it was quiet at night even though our room looked over the street on which the hotel was located. We ate breakfast at the hotel one morning (it was included with the tour we were on) and the wait staff was somewhat disorganized. The choices for breakfast (buffet or off the menu) were excellent and the off the menu dishes were fine. The one dinner (again, part of the tour) was just ok.

Very nice and helpful staff.

Super helpful front desk and amazing housekeeping. Beware of the hostess with the angry face at breakfast. She is the gatekeeper of guests and angrily stops anyone who enters without her permission. She seated my party of two at a narrow table with no place to set our luggage. I put it behind another table and was told I could not leave it there as the table was needed for other guests. There was nobody even waiting to be seated and there were many extra tables. She just didn’t want me to have my suitcase where I put it. Other than the stern-faced breakfast hostess, every other staff member was welcoming and kind.

Great location to explore Edinburgh. The rooms felt a little clinical with not much character, but were very comfortable. Great choice of breakfast.
Good choice of restaurants and bars around and really close to Edinburgj castle. We chose the hotel partly becuase of the sky bar with the view, but this was only open on weekends, and children are not allowed, which had we known we may have chosen a different hotel. Overall a comfortable stay and lovely hotel.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The room was immaculate and a generous size. We only had breakfasts but they were plentiful and offered a wide selection.
Situated in a great location near the castle for exploring the city centre. I would absolutely stay again.

The hotels room was quite basic and fairly small for a family with two young adults with us.
It felt more like a premier inn.
Music from the sky bar was quite loud on one of the nights which stopped us all sleeping.
Breakfast was very nice.

Overall we had a good stay but it was disappointing to find the room had not been cleaned properly. There were long blonde hairs and food crumbs on the carpet which you couldn't miss seeing. Mentioned this to reception when we went out and they had it cleaned by our return. Strangely too we'd been allocated a wheelchair accessible room which they claimed was Expedia but I didn't select that option. Not that it was a problem to us to us really but might have kept that option from someone who needed it. The only other niggle was that despite paying extra for breakfast we found they wanted more money on top for some options, like eggs benedict at £8. Really?
Other than that it's a smart, stylish hotel with nice staff in an excellent location for exploring the center of Edinburgh.

The staff was so friendly and accommodating.
Breakfast was fantastic

Bed was no good, tv didn’t work properly, tv was too big and too close to the bed, internet was lousy, breakfast the same everyday and a bit dull, coffee was very poor

Friendly staff and convenient in hotel location, but cleanliness of carpet in room has to be improved.

Hotel was well located. Few minutes walking to the main roads and the castle. The room are small for a family of 4. That being said everything else was great including staff. Most of them speak other than English language. Breakfast must be paid around $15 per day but they reduce to $12 in you paid in advance.
My only concern was with the carpet. I moved the bed to make the space bigger and carpet was full of things from previous guests.

Lovely hotel and staff within walking distance to many including the Edinburgh castle. Front desk staff were excellent and can book a cab or offer tips and directions as well. The breakfast option is definitely worth adding. Highly recommend.

The room was cold especially you want coming back after a walked. Called the reception they did bring us radiation. Seriously for 4* hotel lack for heating.

Good location to the prime tourist areas.
Hotel was a little tired - had some issues with noise being below the “ Sky” bar. Was a little frustrated at their initial response to correcting the issue but eventually they came around to the right solution. ( but it took energy I don’t want to spend on holiday to get there)
Breakfast convenient and average quality but you can find some fuel there to start the day.
We paid a premium to be there over Hogmanay -and chose the Hilton brand as I use them a lot in my work travels…

Apart from the cleaning staff who were very friendly, the other staff who I met were a little lacking in hospitality skills in our opinion.
The location is fabulous.

The beds were super comfy, staff very friendly.
Great location
The rooms were not quiet, can hear outside noise and from rooms adjacent and above.
Room could have been cleaner - old hair and rubbish in bathroom on arrival.
Had to ask for tea/coffee as hadn't been replaced from last guest.

We had booked a VRBO stay nearby at MyStayInn that proved to not match the photos or description. So we were desperate to find a decent place for that same night. The Old Town Edinburgh Doubletree Hilton was able to fit us in and then, by changing rooms, hosted us a 2nd night as well. The service was supportive (we were exhausted after driving from Aberdeenshire and being rerouted due to Storm Babette and then the stress of finding out the VRBO was not a place we could stay after all). The bar restaurant had good food - we had no energy left to go out to a late dinner. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom immaculate with lots of hot water from an overhead rain shower. When we had to change rooms gor the 2nd night, we just left our suitcases in the old rooms and staff moved them during the day over to the new room for us. We enjoyed morning tea & coffee thanks to the electric kettle. The shortbread cookies were fresh, not stale. We LOVED our stay and appreciated the kind staff!!!

Great room, clean, smelt nice, everything was clean and new and what you expect of the Hilton brand.
Greta service too.

Reception staff chatting no focus on customers
Not helpful.
Restaurant short staffed
Ran out of food did not clean tables bring cutlery. All areas need improvement not staying there again. Good location though !

The only niggles I have is that there was no mirror above the desk and the towels maybe should be replaced as they were quite rough and stained. Also, we accidentally left the do not disturb sign on the door when we went out for the day (totally our fault) but it would have been nice to have been left the daily items at our door (coffee, tea, etc).
Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay, the staff were lovely and it was a great location. The room wasn't the biggest and had a very small window so not much natural light. Perhaps a bit overpriced.

Old hotel and rooms smells. Also pets are allowed in this hotel. Bad idea for fleas control.
