I have traveled to Puerto Vallarta many times, and this is the worst resort. The food was terrible with minimal options in the buffet. We tried the restaurant hoping it was better and it was horrible as well. The worst part were the roaches. They were everywhere in the hall ways, and including in my room. The bartender also barely adds any alcohol in the drinks. The only thing I liked about this hotel was how close it is to el malecón and Pueblo mágico, where you board your boat.

The cleaning staff and restaurant staff were awesome. As far as all inclusive ( not). Bar closed at 7, restaurant has certain hours of being opened The food in the restaurant was the same everyday and pretty much every meal. I truly would not recommend staying here, it was just okay.

Pros: Staff is very friendly and very attentive. The food was very good as well. The property is big and the pools are nice. They have two swim up bars, activities for families, buffet, specialty restaurant, tour desk, coffee shop, lounge area, and easy access to the beach. The location was within walking distance to several other hotels, restaurants, and shops.
Cons: the room we stayed in was large and had a pool view. We had our own little patio with chairs with was nice. Because of all the activities and entertainment going on at the hotel, it can be noisy. For me, it wasn’t a huge problem but it may be for others. As nice as the room was we stayed in, it reeked of mold. There was mold on the curtains, walls, etc. I had a tuff time breathing. I was told by staff that it was normal in Puerto Vallarta due to the humidity and being close to the water.
With that said, we did speak to Manager about the smell issue in our room and he was gracious enough to put us in another room the following day. I truly appreciate how generous they were to accommodate us and although it still did smell like mild, it was very very minimal.
I had the pleasure of speaking to Manager Efrain, and Victor who were very pleasant. They provided wonderful customer service.

I will let the bygones be bygones but I must say THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO GO AS A SOLO TRAVELER!!
Also do not expect to have any hospitality or care from the staff unless you make a complaint.
I will not return here ever again but may be a good hotel for family or big groups. The hotel has several food options through the day and it’s located about 2.5km to Malecon area, approximately 80-100 MEX pesos by Uber.

Like the customer service but do not have much vegetarian option. Cleanliness is not up to the mark.

The attention of the staff was not the best and besides knowing that my wife was pregnant they gave us a room on the third floor and the place does not have an elevator.

So disappointing the hotel should be taken down. It’s a cash cow!!! One tiny buffet for 4-500 ppl the food was cold & recycled!!! The grounds around the main pool were very dirty curtains were mouldy “Believe this review”. Go 4 star or more & have a nice vacation!!! Please do not eat at the Al A Carte !!

One of the most basic resort I've ever stayed at and you won't expect anything fancy or modern.
The first room they gave me was at the back corner of resort and shower curtain was covered with mold. Asked to change room, but they said nothing available and to come back next day. Showed up next day and spoke with another staff and she didn't seemed happy about it and reluctantly gave me another room and this time my view was a prison wall, literally just a brick wall. The safe was broken, the bed lamp just barely hanging on and the closet door doesn't close. Everyday there was always no beach towel available and you have to wait hours or go without it. Wifi is only available at the reception lobby or the main pool area; no connection anywhere else even if your room is close by.
The food is also very simple at the buffet but the occasional dinner at the pool/beach area is quite decent and enjoyable. With a beautiful sunset view, the waves splashing and nice breeze coming in. You get to mingle with other travelers as everyone is seated at a shared round table.
The beach is absolutely wonderful and not crowded at all. You can choose to sit on the lounge chairs at your resort beside the beach or you can sit at the beach but you have to bring your own chairs. You can also rent beach umbrellas for use. The waves are pretty strong but still swimmable and very clean.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this resort unless you're looking for something outside the downtown core.

Everything is old, broken, or needs upgrading. The locals that get discounts to come here by the bus loads is what keeps this place open. Will never return here and absolutely do not recommend it to anyone.

Curtains were dirty, Shower head was bad, bathtub was small, no cold water to drink, only 2 beers Indio and Tecate light, limited drinks, need better food and different breakfast and dinner everyday, have a a variety of different beers .

Very happy with our stay at Plaza Pelicanos Beach Club. This is our second time staying here and we have had a very nice stay both times.

The pictures on the advertisement for this hotel show pictures of the resort right on the beach. Be aware, there are two resorts, the "Club" and the "Grand". The Club resort is across the street, then you have to enter the property of the grand to be able to get to the beach.

Yes it's an older facility, but you are on the ocean. The staff were very friendly and approachable. the Mexican buffet was fine, but if you need more choices there's lots to choose from close by. All in all we had a great vacation.

this property is old and lacks many amenities of newer resorts. the food was good in flavour but repetitive and simple. We did enjoy the stay. this hotel has a similar name as a nearby property so in face we intended the other one. between the two is a huge 20 story hotel partly under construction. It was the subject of the usual point share (time share by a different name) sales pitch which we did not participate. The included alcohol was mostly base quality and as a family oriented resort I suppose reduced the rowdiness. While it was priced about right for the age of the resort I would have like to see a fridge and furniture that was not also threadbare. All in all I am guessing that once the new towers are completed that there may be some demolition coming. The location was good and we walk a lot so about 4 K north of the malecon and near the same south of the marina. We took buses and returned by cab.
Unrelated to this resort, Cabs are reasonable for the most part and even the airport is only a 150 peso drive. That said the Official transportation provider at the airport got us with a 650 peso fare to the hotel. Always ask and if you can figure out how to get off the airport property cabs are cheaper to local hotels in the Hotel Zone. We never had any problem with cabs and 4 people except at the airport where they only load 3 in a cab and 4 in mini vans.

It was an ok property, food was good, restsurant ugly, we hot a bad room at the back and dark , no outdoor pstio . I hated it. Staff were ok, not really friendly. Catered more to the Mexican families. Won't go back

The hotel is a bit older and small. But that was fine for a low key getaway. Very relaxed. Staff were all very nice and helpful.

We stayed in this facility for 10 days, and it is our second time coming to this resort. The food was great. The staff were unbelievable. All of the other hotels in the area have some kind of security staff. This hotel does not. Nothing bad happened...so please don't let me scare anyone off. However, there is no one enforcing the rules about people staying in the pools after hours. No one is monitoring the hallways to make sure teenagers, etc. are not screaming and yelling in the hallways. We got a room on the first floor facing the smaller pool. We could just walk out of our patio door...I loved it! Most of the time we did not even lock this door. We had no issues. The waiters are fabulous! They really look after their customers!

The staff at this place is what makes it. They all try to go above and beyond. Theres a couple staff that always keep myself and the group I travel with coming back over and over.

There's so many massage parlors on property and nearby. There's a strip club across the street. This is a really nice prime spot. The staff is very friendly. The malecon is only about 45 min walk or a $5usd Uber or $100pesos taxi (it doesn't add up. but it's still convenient, you have the option) You can use the public transportation but I didn't want to waste my time. The pool and alcohol and the late night tequila bar was a plus for me. This was my first time staying at a all inclusive resort and I can't wait to go back!

Supposed to be a non smoking resort yea right. The pool bar staff are well aware of it.
Kids were allowed to urinate in the planters by the pool.11:00 and adults and kids running around being noisey.

So beautiful ocean views

Older resort. Could use just a minor overall and fix up of each room. The bones are there, just everything is old/falling apart like the TV, phone, desks, some mattresses are really old, the shower heads should be replaced, the plastic pool chairs, the fake grass at the pool and the broken pool tiles.
If you're use to 4-5 star resorts, this is likely not the place for you. The food was surprisly alright. Night time entertainment wasn't good. Primarily a resort for locals. I wouldn't stay here again, but I didn't overly dislike the place. I'm not a picky person though, sunshine is sunshine!

I made a reservation last minute and we arrived to the hotel and they ask us to pay again because the front desk doesn’t have info of our pay . They told us that the reservations people leave at 6pm and they can’t check our payment , they make us wait for more than 1 hour the manager show up we end up paying one more night and now doing the check out they told me that i will get my money back in 2 or 3 weeks just because they don’t have someone to check if we pay or not . I don’t recommend this hotel .
Some of the workers were cool thats the only good thing

Good for the price we paid. Slight confusion as there are 2 properties with the same name, so expectations were based on the fancier location, but we were staying at the other Plaza Pelicanos Club, not Plaza Pelicanos Grand

The pictures on Expedia do not compare to the current conditions of the hotel. Very run down and dirty. Most staff do not speak English. They were very unhelpful when I brought up the issues. Asked them if we could move to different rooms, we were told no and that they were all the same. We asked if we could move to their joint property across the road (where we would have to go for dinner) and was told we’d have to attend a sales meeting (timeshare) to do that. Our rooms were on the main floor facing the pool area with patio doors that had very flimsy, old locks. We felt unsafe. The Al la carte restaurant was closed when we arrived mid afternoon, the cafe had lime jello and sandwiches looked old with curled up bread. There was a mini buffet set up that was at best a 3/10. It’s was the only option as dinner wasn’t until 7pm.
We decided we were not staying there. After that point, they refused to help us. Their only response was for us to call Expedia. We were unable to call out on our cellphones, so we asked for their help to call. They refused. Finally had a family member call Expedia from canada, and have them add me to the call.
