This is a truly stunning location, the staff were most welcoming and the accommodation was very comfortable, but pricey. I enjoyed snorkeling in the channel especially around the sunken small fishing boat. There are some live coral outcrops, an abundance of fish varieties and endless long, giant sea cucumbers

My stay was awesome
Great staff on a great little island

There is nothing not to like about this resort. Staff know you by name on the first day. The resort location is spectacular. I’ve been to many tropical island and Mediterranean island locations andnothing beats this. The colour blue is redefined here.

Kia Orana! If you're going to Atiutaki you MUST stay here! The staff becomes family oas soon as you meet. Rooms are beautiful and comes with 2 bikes, kayaks and paddle boards! The surrounding water is spectacular and simply from a dream! The outside shower just enhances the Cook Islands experience. Words cannot justify the experience this beautiful hotel offers. Walk around the entire hotel grounds because the grounds are beautiful. If you decide to go onto the main island of Atiutaki (since you have to take quick 2 minute fairy ride from hotel) please, please, please rent a scooter or a car. We did it on bikes and we were exhausted and got sunburn.

Quiet place to relax.
Snorkel gears, paddle boards, kayaks are close by. Calm and clear water in the lagoon to swim. Bicycles are available to explore the vaccinity.

The place is tired and is quite dated although it seems a Reno is underway. The overwater bungalows were lovely in terms of where they were and the views but really need some basic tlc.
Staff were generally very good. The location is amazing. Local cafe and restaurants great.
Little things - like providing somewhere to dry clothes ( line or rack) would have been great. One of our bikes only had one brake working which while not a significant issue, when we are paying close to $1500 a night we sort of expected a bit better.
Food was generally good. After 6 days breakfast became a bit boring though…

Beautiful property upon arrival we were shown a room that was not what we expected we sent multiple emails confirming the room that we wanted with the view The room that we were shown was completely substandard and looking at the backwater of the lagoon in order to get the room t we wanted the charged us an additional $1,700 using their Wi-Fi from their lobby I could have booked the whole trip for the $1,700 so they charged us the additional $1,700 plus the $2,500 that we paid we had the most expensive stay on the island then anybody else at the resortiresortaroomndas substandard to what

What I really like is that every room comes with its own complementary bikes, kayak, and stand up surf boards for your pleasure. The Staff was the Best. Very helpful and friendly.

Aitutaki Lagoon Resort was an unbelievable experience. Living on Hawaii most people questioned why we would travel to another beautiful and remote destination. Our stay here was purely relaxing. We also found it to be truly more breathtaking than Hawaii. The staff could not be more accommodating and welcoming. The bungalow was IMMACULATE! We had everything we needed on the lagoon but did venture over to the island to experience the true culture of the island. A MUST STAY if you are traveling to Aitutaki.

Just got back from a wonderful 6 night stay!! We just loved it all. Just great to get away from it all. The staff is wonderful. Always smiling and helpful! We are already planning a return trip!! We stayed in an over ware bungalow and a premium beach front. Honestly I think we liked the premium beachfront better. I also don’t think there is a bad bungalow on the property. A nice massage with Mere. Beautiful views everywhere you are!

The view was stunning but our bedsheet had not been changed for 4 days. WiFi is not for free.

Beat our expectations. Facilities are in good condition most bungalows have awesome lagoon views. What really made the difference is the staff- everyone was very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. Special shout to Jerry!
Loved that they do a lot of programs throughout the day and every night. Loved the fire performance and dance as well.
Also the food at dinner and lunch was delicious. Breakfast was more simple but also great.
Expedia / hotels.com silver / gold members get great benefits as well.

Beautiful location, great amenities. However the service at the restaurant/bar was horrible. At times, we were the only couple in the area, yet we had to wait long times, even had to go up to the bar to get a drink or order food. Seemed like staff were not interested in serving, yet only one or two couples present.
Also it was my wife's 60th bday dinner, and the meal was ruined, could not eat, yet was still expected to pay for it.

Looks Wonderful Soo Far with a Friendly Staff.. The water is not good to drink but they are working on it… giving completely to drink which is good.. internet service you would think would be part of the day rate with the Villa but o well.. it’s not a breaker.

Emily from the front desk and Wise ( waiter ) by far exceeded my expectations . Always lending a hand with great smiles . Can do improvements in the choices of your Continental breakfast and meal menus . Otherwise , we had a lovely time in your resort and your location is the best of all the resorts

Just returned from one of our favorite places in the world, Aitutaki! This was our second time staying at ALR, and it was amazing yet again! The staff at ALR are fantastic and so helpful! A big shoutout to Tish, Sarah, Rena, Wise, Mere, (to name just a few) were all so great to us and helped us with every need during our stay! The resort is very well maintained and the views from the rooms are stunning! Great food, drinks, and lots of activities. Thank you all so much for a great stay and we will definitely be back!!

Amazing Resort
8.0 / 10.0
This resort is in a perfect spot on the Aitutaki lagoon. It's truly as lovely as it looks in the photos. The facilities are limited but OK. The food was excellent for such a remote location. Correction: The food was excellent fullstop, and varied enough for a week of memorable meals.
But:
maintenance is an issue, and some of the problems clearly predate Covid. It's just not right to have flyscreens falling to bits and 20 year old, defective aluminium ranchsliders in an overwater bungalow costing a Grand a night. Who are you competing with? A motel in Invercargill NZ, or rural Manitoba?
And then there is construction which isn't just ugly, it makes access to the iconic sandspit difficult. Most of the rubbish and discarded building materials could be cleaned up in an afternoon- so why was it all unchanged after a week?
I'd very much like to come back... after these issues are fixed.

Incredible property and staff to go with it. Stayed in a bungalow over the water… simply magical. Can’t wait to come back.

Lovely helpful, friendly staff. Lovely placed resort on island with small amount of villas and guests so quiet and relaxing. Will look extra beautiful when all landscaping complete and so enjoyed the new reception and restaurant area.
