No aircon, only ventilation

Amazing location and good hotel. The only thing is that the hotel is on the third floor without elevator. The rooms are located on the fourth and fifth floor without elevator. For travellers with a lot of baggages or senior citizens. It’s quite unconvient. Other than that, it’s pretty good. The location is amazing. If you travel light or don’t mind stairs. This hotel is great!

No A/C, no elevator, room was severely slanted, bed uncomfortable. Next time I’ll pay more for a different spot.

No air conditioning, sheets have hairs in them, dusty.

The hotel has a great location & I recommend it for the good report quality-price. The staff is nice, the rooms are clean, although a kind of oldish. Very good for young people or people who don't have problems to go by foot 2-3 floors - there is no elevator. I would come back here at anytime

We booked this room last minute because the apartment we rented was a difficult climb for two older travelers. Unfortunately, Hotel du Theatre had a climb, too. It's up a few flights of stairs to the reception, and up another to our hotel. I don't recall this being written in the description or I would've reconsidered. The room is small, though that's not unusual for similar hotels, and the location was absolutely fantastic.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Du Théâtre. As other reviews have said, there is no elevator which is not the most convenient but if you are in decent physical shape, you will be TOTALLY fine. Again, as reviews said, there is also no air conditioning but they gave us a fan and we left our window open which worked out fine. It was very central and we were able to walk everywhere. And the staff… AMAZING! They gave us food recommendations (where we ate every night & were amazing) as well as getting to and from the train station. They made the stay even better!

This hotel is in a very good and central location . Everything is easily walkable and the staff are friendly .
The breakfast is fine and they make the best of what they have ( it is clean and tidy ).
The hotel itself is basic and would benefit from some investment … as some other reviews have mentioned - there are around 40 stairs to climb and no lift to get to reception are.
The biggest problem I would highlight was the noise .. it is a shared building and I think some of the other areas are apartments . People talking very loudly both late and night and early morning hours was very annoying- I do not know if the noise was caused by other residents or people who lived in apartments but the hotel could do to resolve the issues of either guest behaviour or carrying noise from adjoining property.
The staff were good and I did not raise this as an issue with them .. some investment in upgrading the facilities should be the priority.

The lobby was up a staircase and the room was above that again. It was comfortable. They could use a sheer curtain though as people working right across from our room could easily see in and it was too dark if we closed the curtain. Location was excellent. There’s no AC so it might get really hot in the summer.

Great hotel with friendly staff! Excellent location walkable and easy access to transit. Super French! The only faults are there is no air condition and is extremely hot. Secondly there is no elevator and a lot of stairs

It doesn’t look like a hotel, I didn’t expect a hotel room not to have a kettle for coffee or tea. Cleaners would still be cleaning your room around 3:30pm when you come back to the hotel to rest
/get ready before going out for dinner.

Great location for a nice price. Basic 2-star hotel with spacious rooms. Recommended

Ok for a short stay. Quite a few stairs to climb. Due for a proper Reno/update. Baseboards not cleaned and there should be a proper shelving for extra blankets as they appear to be stuffed into a closet on the floor. Beds we’re comfortable.

The price was good, but the property itself can be upkept a bit better. The room we received was a bit dated and very dusty which made us a bit uncomfortable.

A quaint hotel located on the 3rd, 4th & 5th floors of the building

There is no elevator and many steps! The room was comfortable but the toilet was extremely loud to flush. The woman at the front desk, Luce, was an abaolute gem! She was extremely friendly and helpful. She spoke English very well and was always ready with a suggestion and help. The neighborhood of the hotel was fantastic. We had to force ourselves to explore other areas because there Wasserstein much to do in ours. Loved it and would go back.

Very centrally located, close to the bridges which take you to Old Lyon but only five minutes walk away from the main shopping areas. Rue de Savoie feels like a back street but the hotel itself is clean, has a nice feel and is excellently priced. The staff were great and spoke really good English and the breakfast was nice, simple but affordable and situated next to the reception area. As an affordable option which offers private facilities it couldn't really be beat.

NIce clean hotel. Really great location. Definitely suited our needs for one night. Please know that the rooms are on the 3rd and 4th floor and there is not elevator. Public parking was very close. Breakfast was a little weak but we enjoyed our stay.

Great location for old town. Bit tired looking but nice

The main feature of this accommodation is the number of steps ,both to reach the hotel door and then up to the rooms.
Next was heat - so high up in a location with hot summers. However there was a normal fan and a rotating cold air unit that worked well.
And there was noise from below as people in bars enjoyed the rugby world cup.
Despite these failings the room was neat, modern, cleaned each day.
The location was good, close to bridges over the river and public transport serving the wider city if you don't want to walk too far.
If you're not going to stay in a big named, expensive hotel, small unknown french hotels are pot luck and this was better than average.

Nice location! Nice staff! Old building without elevator, so you need to carry you cases up and down by stairs. There is no air conditioning. Overall it is a budget hotel good for certain people.

Good staff, clean but very noisy night hours.

The hotel does not have an elevator and the reception is on the 2nd floor so we had 4 floors to go to our room. So be careful if you have large luggage. They did list it on the site we just must have missed that. The rooms were very big and we had a nice view to the theatre across the street. Some things were a little dated and ragged like the towels but it was fine overall. Very close to the water and lots of dining etc.

Excellent staff. If you're looking for a good value and don't need a lot of extras, it's a great place to stay. I would highly recommend a room upgrade as the basic room is quite small. No frills hotel with excellent staff.

When in Lyon, This is the place to stay at!
You can’t beat the central location too so many places from restaurants, shops, bars, nightlife. You cross the bridge less than a minute away and you’re in old Lyon and close to lots of sights. Stay here and enjoy. I like the 12pm check out and luggage hold also.

This is a nice small hotel in a great location for exploring the city. It's close to both rivers, restaurants, and the metro. The staff were very nice, (and helpfully for us spoke good English), and the small rooms cram in a lot of spec for a 2* hotel. Check the website - it clearly states there is no lift, (not a bother at all for us), and no air-con, if this is not for you then don't book!
The only disappointment was the breakfast - very basic and not worth the extra, but very happy overall and would certainly stay again.

A fantastic central location with a great view over the Theatre plaza - ask for a room with that view! A beautiful old traditional building converted for a comfortable stay - but just be warned that there is no lift because it is an old building. Breakfast was excellent and cheap; service was extremely personal and warm.
An excellent stay - thank you very much everyone

This is a great little hotel, clean, quiet, and friendly staff. HOWEVER there was no mention of the fact that the reception area is on the 3rd floor and there is NO ELEVATOR. Then, our room was two floors above that. Think about that when you're packing your bags if you're reserving here. I would never stay there again, just because of that.
