Dirty, musty smelling, booking photos didnt match. Hot tub out of order, ceiling dripping above pool. Toilet wouldnt stop running, burned out bulbs, 2nd tv wouldn't work, dirty dishes in dishwasher and no detergent available, broken drawers. Shower had too much pressure, went all over floor and never got hot even at 630 am. Only positive is the large space

Wasn’t bad for the price, but this property had quite a few maintenance issues.

We liked the extra space and kitchen area even in a standard suite. We normally prefer short term rentals for this reason, but would definitely stay here again because GrandStay offers the same without the additional cleaning and service fees. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was basic and again something you wouldn’t from a STR. The location is excellent - walking distance to everything!! The hotel is a little dated but still not bad. Multiple light bulbs (>6) were burnt out but the front service provided replacements. There were some stains on the walls, especially by the vents, the couch was a little dusty, but generally the facility looked and smelled clean. The sleeper sofa was a bit uncomfortable, but it was still nice to have an extra bed for my daughter to sleep in the living room. I read some negative reviews, but I imagine during a busy football or other big event weekend, it’s possible that cleaning shortcuts may take place, but we would definitely look to stay here again if available.

Upon check in, found room with some sort of goop all over the walls. Looked like dried soda, some sort of food smeared on the entry door. I booked two rooms and they switched the larger one that I booked all week with a much smaller one that I had only requested for two nights. Kitchens are convenient but wouldn’t stay again.

Very clean, very comfortable. Breakfast was awesome!

The suite floor plan was great, as was having two TVs, a full size fridge, and a kitchenette. As this is an older property, it's starting to show its age. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but the desk clerk at checkout was also performing housekeeping chores...hire more help! Complaints are few...there was no bar soap (front desk said their supply truck had been delayed 3 times), and the shower attached bottle for body wash was empty. Also, if you're looking for the ice bucket and cups, they're kept hidden away in a kitchen cabinet!

Needed the pullout couch… mattress was disgusting. Could not use. The restaurant/lounge has need permanently closed since end of October, had to go to front desk for a bar of soap. Front desk person was welcoming.

Have stayed here many times. Seemed a little tired looking. Thursday breakfast was almost empty at 810 and it didnt ed until 9.

Large executive room for a great price. Very much enjoyed the facilities and layout.
However, for some reason, there was no soap for the sink or the shower. The front desk had no soap available. I thought this was a standard amenity.

The hotel is well maintained and we enjoyed the suite. Much better than just a room.

So we had a family get togather out of town over that way.
We got a room. Bathroom floor was busted up,
Trim pieces missing in the living room.
We turned heater on and almost has to evacuate the room it stunk so bad.
Had a dish washer in the kitchen.
But it was full of dirty dishess.
Pretty gross.

They were very helpful in getting us checked in remotely when our travel plans changed to ensure we would still have a room when we got there on a busy game weekend.

Easy check in and nice that the hot tub and pool are open late

The pool is indoor and tiny. The hot tub is pretty run down and wasn't very hot. But over all it was a great place for the price.

It was dirty are room ether had mold in it or dust but not safe for a baby to be there in my opinion

Great location with proximity to Iowa State and several stores like Five Below, Rally House, and TJ Maxx right across the street. Scooters Coffee is right next to the hotel and there's a great bar/pizza place attached! (Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom). There was a little confusion when we first checked in...the front desk agent said we only had two nights reserved and not three, but the front desk guy the next night (Bill) confirmed we were good. Also, our room key didn't work at first, but we were given a new room. The new room didn't have soap, bed linens for the pullout couch, or a remote control (probably because it wasn't supposed to be occupied), but the front desk took care of us.
Breakfast was good and overall hospitality was great. We will definitely be back!

Spacious rooms, friendly staff, beds and bathrooms are little old.

Poorly managed! Toilet seat so loose that about ready to fall on the floor. Area by bedroom vent was lined with either dirt or mold. Curtains were not hung correctly. Outside bushes terrible!!! First room assigned had been used and the bed was not made.
Hey...when no one cares...it will show.

This place was terrible! Walked into room and carpet wasn’t vacuumed, food on the table and sheets! Beds/pillows were so uncomfortable couldn’t even sleep! Breakfast ok!

I liked the cleanliness and food options

Property is a bit dated. Furniture needs to be replaced. But overall, worked its purpose.

This is an alright property, definitely needs some updating. The dishwasher said it was clean yet the dishes looked dirty and still had powder in the slot. We reran it, and the powder did not change. The pans looked very bad. I mainly booked this one so we could cook there but would not cook on those pans.
When we came to check in - I stood there a bit and that saw a guy walk out on his phone and he looked at me. I than picked up the phone to dial '0' and than he turned around to come help me check in.
Than when we left, we saw the Orcan man so I rechecked our beds just to make sure there was no bugs anywhere.

Good rooms and beds. Comfortable!! Hot tub was very sandy and was in need of repairs to the tile and gunite.

My family loved it. We will stay again.

Good for the price.

We booked for a suite and was given no pots or pans, rusted silverware and knives. Small pools and the hot tub had sand in the bottom. The beds are very uncomfortable and has stains all over it. TVs didn’t work, phone never worked. Staff were really rude. Highly disappointed with this place.

The staff was great and breakfast was good as well. During our stay I had gotten several bug bites during our stay. An issue i didnt stress due to my children not having any bites. The day we checked out, I had spoken to a friend and show them the bites and the pictures of the bug and was informed that it looked like bed bugs! When I called the hotel, the woman on the phone was very understanding and helpful. She provided an email address for the manager who, unfortunately, never responded to my email

People were friendly and the hotel had what you needed for a comfortable stay.

Hotel room was big and clean, but wear and tear made it feel a little less clean. We arrived late and only stayed one night, so we can’t weigh in on much. Breakfast was okay. Seemed a bit short staffed (front desk person was vacuuming upstairs when we arrived and working breakfast when we checked out). We would stay there again for price.

In town to see granddaughters presentation. Had a time getting ahold of someone to register me, however, made up with the room I checked into. Clean and fresh, only downside was the noise of the air conditioner.

Overall very nice location, staff and convenience

Great clean room and bathroom. Breakfast was subpar with cold sausage but was willing to accept it because of the quality of the room.

Check In: easy, quick, polite and professional service.
Lobby/Breakfast Area: nice on first view. Days 2-3 smelled like a dirty diaper… not sure if there was trash that hadn’t been taken out? No convenience items other than diapers available.
Room: outdated, but good enough. Very very thin walls and limited/thin blankets. Dirty dishes in the dishwasher (I’m sure we could have asked for detergent if we had wanted to use them). Door knob of closet literally not actually attached, wall panel fell off when slightly bumper and we had to put it back, couch smelled strongly of disinfectant, tub didn’t drain well, and lots of paint falling off the walls. All that said it was “clean enough” I didn’t feel uncomfortable staying there 2 nights, but it wasn’t “pleasant”.
Breakfast: Waffle maker ok. Coffee was really really bad with only powdered creamer provided. Powdered eggs and semi-warm precooked breakfast sausage. Pastries and cereal also available, but the eggs/sausage/coffee were poor enough we didn’t eat breakfast here on day 2. Scooters has decent coffee for $2.
Other: Didn’t use pool or gym, but hot tub is out of order.
Overall, it was “good enough” but I wouldn’t stay there again if there were other options.

We have been staying at this hotel for 4 years while our child attended ISU. The rooms are no longer stocked with the shampoo, soap, coffee and even the hairdryer was gone. When we ask for these items, It takes a long time because the hotel is understaffed.
The breakfast and coffee are no longer worth eating from the breakfast area because the food or utensils are empty.
The few hired staff try their hardest, but there is too much work for them to get it done promptly.
It seems the hotel may be under new management and they are not employing enough staff and trying to get by on the cheap. We will no longer be staying there.

Need to hire a general maintenance person to change light bulbs, fix running toilet, coffee pot and some painting touch up (in food area).
Had nice staff.

Room was dirty in several spots. Repairs done to the room were very noticeable and tacky. Door mechanisms were dated and faulty.

The man at the front desk was very friendly and helpful!

Room was a cute layout and nice size. Breakfast was solid but anyone gluten free might need a back up plan. Loved the full size fridge and overall amenities. Kitchen utensils were a little hit and miss. Not complete sets of things and lacked a bit if you truly plan to cook there. May have been able to request more, but we didn’t try that.
