My experience may be isolated, but perhaps worthy of sharing. We arrived around 2am, exhausted from traveling, and had a 5:30am commitment. When we arrived we merely pushed on the room door and it opened. The door latch was broken, not fully engaging into the door jamb. So we tried the dead bolt and it did not work at all. The night staff had no solution so we slept with a chair securing the door shut. Just a little uncomfortable for us, but it turned out alright. The dead bolt was fixed the next day. After a cold, rainy day fishing excursion the next day, we returned to the hotel room anticipating a nice hot shower. We were disappointed to learn the water was luke warm-to cool, at best. But what I think relevant is that we were told the room temperature was dictated by how much hot water was used by the hotel restaurant. Of the four days we stayed, we had only one hot shower. Not the end of the world, but a little disappointing.
Outside of this, the environment was safe and quiet, and the town was pleasant. The beds were comfortable, too.

Not a place for handicap people

Great service, very friendly. Thanks

Motel has a nice Alaskan lodge feel to it. Old styled decor and apparently an attached restaurant that is popular among locals.
Friendly front desk clerks. We had booked a room with 2 beds but none were available so they gave us two rooms with single bed. That was a nice gesture . They didn’t make two grown men sleep in one bed.
Amenities of fridge and microwave.
Only thing wrong was that the shower didn’t work . The diverter lever from bath to shower was broken. Quiet environment

The beds are very comfy, perfect stay when you need a hot shower and comfy bed after dip netting. we’ll be back

This is a nice little motel with a fantastic restaurant attached

Overall pretty nice! A little outdated but allowed pets and was very clean!

*If Hotels.com says they are full, call to confirm.
The Uptown was not our first pick hotel, just based on the outside appearance, but no other hotels within our price range were accepting reservations at 1 AM (we had been dipnetting until after midnight) so we decided to give it a try. We were so glad we did! Ignore negative reviews. Our room was immaculate, comfortably set up, and had adequate supplies for our needs. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the older style of the interior decor was solid and classy. We especially loved the real wood trim, interior doors, etc, and the old style brass key for our room, instead of a key card. We stayed two nights in two different rooms: first a basic double queen, second a king suite with a jacuzzi. Both were excellent! (Pictures are of the king suite.)
We had breakfast at the restaurant downstairs the next morning and it was every bit as good as the room. We LOVED the decor and the service and food were excellent. (Be warned, however, if you hate hunting and can't stand to see animal mounts, you probably won't like this restaurant!)
We enjoyed our stay so much that when we finished fishing the next day, there was no question in our minds where we would stay the night. *When we tried to book our second night's stay through hotels.com, we received an error saying that they were full or only accepted reservations for more than one night's stay. This was not true. If you receive a similar notice, call the motel!

This was an old hotel, little on the dusty side with the decor. Everyone was very friendly. The restaurant was very good.
4.2
Comfortable stay with very kind house keeping. Perfect after a long day dipnetting! Extremely comfortable beds and hot, high pressure shower!
4.2
I’ll be back next year for another night. My kind of place. Great staff
4.2
Bath room needs cloths hooks. Very inconvenient.
4.2
Rooms dated but clean and friendly atmosphere
4.2
Out of repair
4.2
Perfect for the hunter or fisherman. No elevator though so humping gear upstairs can be annoying after a long excursion.
Louis restaurant, which is attached to the hotel serves up wonderful Alaskan meals. Expect to get well fed.

Older facility. Very clean. Great people. Wonderful restaurant.

Carpet was pretty worn.

Very quiet and cute! The owners daughter was amazing when checking in and made it very welcoming
4.2
The owner has a very unique collection of antiques

Staff was excellent. Yes, it's older but in a nostalgic way. It actually takes a key to open the door and don't forget to lock when you leave. They don't automatically lock when you shut the door. Room was warm (was -15 out) and nice hot shower with great water pressure.

I had low expectations but the check in staff was friendly, the room was clean, and we would gladly stay again! Great price and good location (we were in Kenai for a swim meet...I'm not sure how expensive these rooms are in the summer, but I'm sure that they aren't cheap!)

Next to a bar

The customer service was absolutely amazing. There was a bit of miscommunication on the app, and booking needs. The assistance that we received from the lovely lady at the front desk, went above and beyond.
4.2
They only have one room available if you book through Hotels. Terrible, uncomfortable beds. Beds were listed as full size, they are single and very short. I slept better in the chair.
The hotel was empty, they could have given us a different room. This place is for sale, no wonder. I will never stay there again.

Very nice and clean. Attractive furnishings. Felt luxurious but very reasonable price.

Use of a real metal key was quaint
Rooms are small
The adjoining restaurant seems more important than the hotel patrons.
Restaurant food was amazing!

We enjoyed the stay at Uptown as it provided many conveniences while on our fishing trip. Inviting, cleaning and safe. The on-site restaurant and bar were added pluses. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

This was our first time staying here. Everything was outstanding. Allie at the front desk was very helpful. Everything in the room was perfect. There is an excellent restaurant in the building. We will definitely stay here again.

It was a nice little motel. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
4.2
I nice old fashioned homey place to stay.
4.2
Quaint - in a positive sense - with friendly staff, and well-appointed rooms exhibiting superb craftsmanship of a by-gone era.
4.2
Room was spacious and comfortable. Only questionable event was finding a handful of Frito chips on the the desk chair. Which means the chair was not moved and thus under the desk not cleaned. The room seemed clean otherwise. The bed was really comfortable.
4.2
It was a great we couldn’t figure tv out and the desk lady I think her name was Nickie her and maintenance came right down . It was user error so they showed us how to use the remote .i definitely will stay there again
