I received a warm welcome from Celine, who spoke very good English, and she advised on where to eat, what to do and what not to miss during my short visit to Angers. The hotel is very conveniently located for the station and a 10 minute walk from the chateau. My room was very clean and comfortable and I slept well. It was quiet. Breakfast featured a variety of fresh fruits, breads, croissants and cereals, hard boiled eggs, ham and cheese, accompanied by good filter coffee. I was very satisfied!

Very nice hotel conveniently across the street from the train station. Would stay again. But, there is no air conditioning so in warm weather windows must be open to late evening noise.

I was in Angers on business and my wife joined me. We had been booked at a different hotel on the other side of downtown for the first few days, but decided to change locations to be closer to meetings and activities of interest, and to be super close to the train station for early AM departure on our final day. In a nutshell, we were beyond pleasantly surprised by Le Progres. We decided on there because the price was great, it's directly opposite the train station, and reviews seemed good. The property is older but has had a full recent remodel and everything throughout was clean, fresh and lovely. Room size was typical of France: small. But the bed was very comfortable...new bathroom with strong shower...blackout drapes...wifi was acceptable for email but slow for larger files. Morning breakfast was under 10 Euros and a nice buffet offering. All staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful 24/7. There are several excellent cafes, boulangers and patisseries within a couple adjoining blocks. And the location is very close to the large fortress, shopping and other activities. Will definitely be staying there again on future visits.

Easily accessed hotel near to Downtown area and main amenities. Secure parking was limited but available to us at reasonable cost. Staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful, and spoke perfect English. Room was fine and Continental breakfast was typical. Value for money stay.

The check in was quick, polite, friendly and efficient. The room was clean and well maintained. The decor was a little dated but that did not detract from my enjoyment of the room. The hotel is located just across the road from the train station so that was very handy.

The hotel staff were very welcoming and knowledgeable about the local area and made for friendly faces after 5 hours on the road! The room was simple but extremely clean and a good size. Angers itself is lovely and we would return and use this hotel again.

Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the hotel is conveniently placed across the street from the train and bus stations. The room and the bed were comfortable (nice strong hot shower) and the hotel in general was exactly what I needed.

Good stay, but the bed in our particular room was way too hard and uncomfortable.

Very nice. No sink in the separate toilet. Soap dispenser in bathroom difficult to get soap out of. Would have been nice to have better quality soaps, and some shampoos, hand cream. Otherwise fine.

Expected a typical french no frills hotel, surprised to find good service and friendly staff

Welcoming polite staff - nice facilities and excellent breakfast. Only down point was the parking across the road in the train station although they were helpful with this and a ticket was issued to cover some of the cost.

Very pleasantly surprised by this hotel, conveniently located near the train station and a short walk into Angers centre and Chateau. We had room 108 which had its own terrace with table and chairs. The hosts were polite and happy to provide us with bikes to use (free of charge) to allow us to explore the tracks along the banks of La Maine and Loire.
Can recommend the cycle track down to Behuard (15km) and if a warm day reward yourself with a dip in Lac du Maine.
Breakfast was good either usual Continental/cereal/fruit options.
Would definitely recommend.
