We wanted to go to the German Village and this hotel was convenient. Although basic, it had what we needed for an overnight day.

Let me start by saying I had read lot of reviews before staying and so should you. For the price its not the worst hotel stay Ive ever had. However, this place is by no means a quality hotel. There are sketchy people that seem to live there and watch you, the rooms smell of nicotine and air freshener, someone was bumping their music at outside 10 am and there was definitely a roach that crawled across the Tv stand. So with that being said, one night wont kill you but be prepared for the experience.

The motel was inside of a wayward city block. There are people living there that lounge outside of their rooms in chairs. There were vehicles that people clearly had moved their life into, in the parking lot. I didn't hear gunshots or anything, but I definitely slept with mine under my pillow and my hand on it. The room itself was recently remodeled and honestly the only saving grace this motel has. This was a rushed trip and a last minute booking, we were able to sleep there. Other than that we avoided our motel the whole trip. The staff was very terse but not like full on rude. Overall, wouldn't stay again, but I would if I had to.

Literally had brown stuff all over the walls. Mirrors were dirty. Lights didn’t work cockroaches, crawling in the ceiling.

I was worried at first but it turned outto be a great hotel. It was quiet and felt safe. Tons of bar restaurants. FYI if you arrive late at night it can look Sketchy. I would stay there again .

This might be the best motel I have ever stayed in, and I have stayed in a lot of motels. The rooms are huge, clean, and comfortable, the staff is friendly, and the location -- in addition to being close to downtown -- is in the very pretty and pleasant German Village neighborhood. There is a variety of good dining and drinking options within easy walking distance of the motel. Great place!

Dirty and old place

I like that it wasn't far from downtown.

Everything was fine and u get what u pay for.

Prices are good, staff very friendly, and I will visit again.

This was a simple, no-frills property, but it was good for the price. The room was ample and comfortable, and the staff friendly. The hotel is located close to downtown and on the edge of a nice neighborhood called German Village. There is also a nice park a short walk from the inn.

We were visiting Columbus for a huge tournament that my teenage daughter's travel softball team was playing in, and the German Village Inn provided us with a room that satisfied all our needs: Affordable, clean, comfortable and safe. We will be back!
From the outside, the facility looks like a typical two-story motel facing in on central parking lot that was probably built in the 1960s or 70s. Although we saw some shady-looking hanging around a convenience store a few blocks away, we experienced no problems at the motel itself.
Cons: Just a few relatively minor complaints that I hope the Inn's management will embrace as suggested improvements rather than criticisms. 1) My mattress had a dip in it and probably should have been replaced already, but it wasn't a deal-breaker for me; 2) The bars of soap are pretty small and they only had two full-size towels in the room --- But in all fairness, the front desk immediately gave us two new towels and two new bars of soap when we asked for them; 3) The staff didn't actively service the room (e.g. take out trash/replace the soap and towels, etc.) during our three-night stay --- which again, wasn't a deal-breaker and motel management may have felt like they were respecting our privacy by not going in the room; and 4) Providing customers with some quick "grab-and-go" breakfast options (e.g. muffins, granola bars, fruit, yogurt, bottled water, coffee, etc.) would be a great move, and would likely improve business in the long run.

I got burned in the shower when water temp changed bizarrely

Severely needs an update. Sketchy. Dirty. Guys living in the room next to me we're hanging out in the parking lot late, right outside my window, drinking and playing loud music and hanging on my vehicle. They drew gang pics on my rear window in the dirt. I did make a call to the desk. Won't recommend and won't be back.

Room needed a better cleaning.
Dust on chair
Someone’s old bars of soap left in bathroom
Someone bath loofah left in bathroom
Old motel just needs some updating

This hotel was close to the soccer game my family went to. This hotel was running a special price. This hotel worked great for us.

It was one of the cleanest places we have stayed at for awhile. We thought it migt be noisey since were on the first floor with the parking outside but it was not.
They did not have any breakfast at all :(

Easy to access from.high street

It is well situated and comfortable. When I came back to the hotel late the second afternoon the bed had not been made abd I had to ask for coffee bags and creamer.

Staff didn't clean our room are changed our towels. Water bugs in room. No toilet paper holder. And locked us out after the first day. Would avoid this place.
3.4
The room smelled like mildew and we got scalded by the shower every time we took one. Need to install guards!!
3.4
The room was good for the price point. Only complaints that I had were that the bed was very squeaky, getting up to use the bathroom in the midddle of the night and it woke my friend in the other bed up. I also found crumbs against the bed frame, so it could've been cleaned a little better.

Always enjoy the neighborhood of Germain Village.

It's very convenient and very affordable. The staff was very polite and helpful, especially because I got the dates of my reservation mixed up. However, the rooms are a bit dated though you can tell they are trying to improve. It was reasonably cleaned, but it would be nice if they would move the furniture to vacuum.

Stayed here last night for OSU graduation. Very nice, clean, affordable room. Lots of fun places to walk to (Book Loft, Staub’s Coffee). Quiet room. We brought our bikes to ride the Scioto trail to precommencement on Saturday and graduation on Sunday, super close.Owner is super nice, let us keep car in parking lot after check out so we could bike all day.

The room seemed dirty. Spider webs and dusty

The place seems pretty well run. Older building, but bedding and stuff was clean. Water was nice and hot. I guess the only complaint was that the coffee machine was not working in the room. But reception made a pot in the lobby for me. Refrigerator and microwave were useful. Free parking is a plus

The German Village Inn has been our stop on our annual trips to St. Louis from Philadelphia. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the hotel is located in the picturesque German Village section of Columbus. A neighborhood in which my wife enjoy walking. In addition our favorite German restaurant is a block's walk away.

Good location in the German Village. A typical two star hotel, staff and geusts. Room was not well cleaned, other than the surface. Chair bases had heavy dust. Empty beer can left under air/heat unit.Metal plate for tissue dispenser came off with first kleenex pull. Handle plate for bathroom door was not affixed. Bed slid around when you got onto it because there was nothing separating mattress from metal base. Some of the geusts enjoyed pulling in to park with music blaring. Again, a two star. You get what you pay for.

Not terrible for the price.

Tv appeared to function, but there were no regular channels. All the cable channels were unavailable. Coffee maker didn't work.

The property was extremely loud and the facilities were outdated and dirty. Didn’t sleep a wink because the walls were so thin

Many nearby restaurants

The other guests were too loud, playing music and talking loudly. There were no washcloths, only 1 hand towel and 2 bath towels. We have stayed at this property two times before. This stay was not quite the same as the two previous stays.
Upon checking out, I noticed a room was reserved as a "warming station"?!? Hmmm. Perhaps the noisy people were homeless. I'm all for helping people down on their luck, but the management needs to better control the noise. Staying here is all about a good nights sleep.
