This place is, I think, best described as a hostel for older folk. It seems to seek to preserve the rigours of its previous lives as a nunnery and seminary. My husband and I, after a rigorous pilgrimage à pied from Maintenon, were greeted by a cool but not rude greeting by the receptionist. We next went to our room on the third floor (there IS an ascenseur that was working!) and crept our way along an unlit corridor - eventually our key-card worked at our assigned room, and later we discovered some light switches. This feature, along with the shampoo dispensary accords this place a high eco-score! The room itself offered the austerities of one pillow each, and a window without a curtain, which would have let in plenty of light to rouse a reluctant nun or seminarian craving a bit more sleep. The shower was easy to use and had good pressure, but was slippery and spilled out over the floor. Beware all ye oldsters with fragile limbs! The neighbourhood was mainly quiet, but I was awoken by the “cloches” of the present age - ambulance sirens echoing over the valley that spreads out widely below the hôtelerie. Allof these discomforts would have been supportable if it had not been for the absence of WIFI outside of the 8am to 8pm corridor when we rigorous pelerins were not in our room. This was a rigour we, as a couple travelling without a leader, were not prepared to endure, and whichwe regarded as an ungenerous economy on the part of whoever now runs this place.

No parking, struggled to find the hotel, and it is all
rather “Spartan” (basic).
4.2
Amazing location, very attentive staff. Destination in its own right. Loved our stay there.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Great location. Nice bed, very comfortable

The hotel itself is lovely and very conveniently placed to visit the cathedral. However there are so many one way, very narrow streets, it's very difficult to find the hotel parking. You have to drive through a road bollard & get it lowered by pressing a button to ask. Nowhere is that mentioned & it definitely should be!
4.2
Small but comfortable room. Very convenient for cathedral, restaurants and shops.
4.2
Great place but an absolute nightmare to find it. Why can't the hotel provide a close up map showing how to get ther once in Chartres. Other than that a great stay especially being in the old part of Chartres

It was basically okay. There was some mold in the bathroom but there were obvious attempts to clean it. Step up from the hall to the room, steps up to the bathroom. View of nothing with weedy flower pots strewn about. One key to room which must be used to lock the door from the inside.

We loved our stay, it is very close to the cathedral and clean and comfortable. Be sure to get very clear driving directions BEFORE you get to town. This is a tricky location. Fortunately, a terrific person at the reception desk talked us in!

The location and beauty/history of the property are the reasons to stay here. Driving to it is a bit of an adventure and be sure to look for the directions on their website. Very friendly staff. Spare but comfortable room and lovely views.

This historic building holds simple, clean and comfortable rooms right next to Chartres Cathedral

The location is great but otherwise this is a dormitory style facility for the price of a 3-star hotel. The wifi doesn't work in some rooms. We had to ask for soap. There was never any soap for the sink. And they have a potentially serious safety problem. Their hallway and exit stairwell lights are on a timer and you have to be able to find the ON switches in the dark. Staff are nice but they don't have a service orientation.

I loved the former priory, but it took me 45 minutes of driving around to find it because a road was blocked off. The night porter was very helpful, but if I didn't speak French I'd never have found the place.

Very good value, nice location and breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

The outstanding features of the hotel are its location (250 yards from the cathedral and less to some good restaurants) and its car parking.
4.2
A simple, but clean room with a fantastic view. The ensuite with shower was clean and modern. An atmospheric hotel, thanks to its history. Staff were helpful and friendly. A great location for visiting Chartres. If coming by car, hotel parking is limited so arrive on time!

The views from our room on the second floor were gorgeous. The breakfast (9€?) was very nice. And the interior of the Chartres cathedral is spectacular.

First be aware the rooms are very small. That’s was fine for me; but very small. Bed was comfortable. Also I was there during the recent heat wave, no air conditioning. Room stayed hot all night. If you are going to drive to the hotel, make sure you have GPS; otherwise very frustrating. Also be aware, hotel front desk closes between 12 noon - 2pm so no one is available to let you into the hotel parking lot. . Same situation after 8pm. However; once you check in, you’re giving a card that drops the security barrier to let you into the hotel parking lot.
The great news is it is extremely close to the Cathedral. The breakfast cost 10 euros and was fabulous and worth the cost!!
Bottom line; if you can check in after 3pm and before 8pm, if the weather isn’t very hot and are ok with a very clean but small room, I highly recommend it! If I go back to Chartres, I’m staying there!
Another note, the area surrounding the Cathedral has very good restaurants and USA comfortable also.
Note, if you are going to walk the Cathedral labyrinth; as of present, it is only available to walk on Fridays between 10am-5pm. I meet a few people on Saturday who missed the walking the labyrinth experience.
Finally; there is an unsecure place to hold your luggage before & after checking in & out.

Location is amazing, half block away from the cathedral. Hotel is a former monestary, so rooms are bare but clean & functional. Perfect for a short stay. Staff is very friendly and helpful, breakfast buffet was satisfactory, walking distance from many restaurants. We were really glad we found this hotel. It was a much different experience from the usual.

Bring your own soap, no airconditioning in room and the heat was very good for a very cold May, the additional cost for the breakfast: hard boiled egg, limited cold cuts, bread, coffee was not worth it find a restaurant that serves crepes. The elevator was slower than taking the stairs. Beds were good and the view from this top of hill location was the best. Parking (bring skinny cars exit from one door only) is limited to about 25 cars (there are 50 rooms so more walk than drive), there were a few open spaces early in all 3 mornings,

Before coming to this hotel please prepare your way. We were wondering around the hotel for 1 hour after Waze and Google maps failed to lead us. When we arrived we found out that the check in time is until 8PM and no one available in the hotel and no one is answering the telephone. We had to look for other hotel

Excellent location. Spartan but comfortable. Exceptionally clean. Excellent front desk person.

The location is amazing, the rooms are comfortable, and the staff very friendly and helpful. Plus, you get to drive in the otherwise off-limits downtown and have free parking! The breakfast wasn’t worth the extra money, though, and the internet access was limited to the lobby area.

Location is ideal for visitors to Chartres Cathedral - 1 minute walk.
This is a very bare bones Church run facility.
My single bed, with bath, room was plain, almost like a monk's cell, but immaculately clean and up to date.
Wifi in my room was iffy due to thick stone walls and a weak router signal. Alternative wifi locations were available outside my room.
The included continental breakfast was good.
Highly recommended for the price and location.

Interesting hostel included an art display. It provides accommodation for groups of people attending conferences. The amazing cathedral is about a hundred yards round the corner.

Great location. Former monastery, thus spare in furnishings. However, well-done. Bathroom smallest I’ve seen, but everything’s included and it was new.

I have been coming here from time for the last ten or so years. I usually give it the highest marks and wholeheartedly recommend it, even if just for the location and free parking just 50 metres from the cathedral. It seems they've tried improvements recently which haven't bee entirely successful, upgrading showers etc., but the tap in the basin was loose and one light hanging fro the wall. The prices have gone up exacerbated by the exchange rate. But it's still the place for me. A wonderful building especially friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast still good in the wonderful ancient arched room. I hope they get the maintenance issues sorted. Despite these, still go tit's still pretty good value. and definitely unique

Excellent location, almost next door to the Cathedral

An o.k. Hotel and nigh impossible to find. When people book this Hotel you should alert them to the very difficult directions required to get your vehicle to it.
The Hotel breakfast is very good, and quite reasonable.
The rooms are a tight fit!

Simple and plain, but comfortable and great location. Great for a few nights stay. Staff were dry friendly and helpful.

Nice place, very quiet in the off season. Best access possible to Chartres Cathedral- while limited amenities in its basic design, we liked it and would stay there again.
