We absolutely loved the ambience and decor in this traditional Moroccan guesthouse. Our room and terrace had beautiful views overlooking the city, and the staff was so helpful and friendly. The food for breakfast was excellent, and we loved the central location inside the Kasbah and near the Medina. We highly recommend this hotel.

Perfect location, quiet street and local to everything by foot. The room at the top was superb with a personal terrace and breakfast brought right up to enjoy with the wonderful views. Staff superb, polite, and obliging. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

This property took us back to what seemed like another time. Warm, traditionally Arabic welcome with mint tea and sweets. Exceptionally attentive and personable service by our hosts (the former French naval Captain and his family). Exquisite "old Morocco" property within the Kasbah. A memorable stay in Tangier as a result.

Cute riad style hotel in the middle of the medina. Very clean and cute beds.
Incredible breakfast.
Ferry to Spain got delayed, we showed back at the hotel from the ferry terminal and the staff went out of their way to make us comfortable and help us try to get on another ferry. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!

You will need to know what is important to you when choosing this hotel. Our room did not have AC, but it was not too hot, and they gave us a fan as soon as we asked. However, that meant that the windows were open, and the seagulls were just relentless.
That said, the owners and staff are some of the warmest people that I have met. They arranged our taxis, found a last-minute FANTASTIC guide for us when our tour got canceled, and in all were just delightful. The breakfast is unbelievable. The resident cats are not intrusive. It was a great stay. AC would have made it perfect.

Dar Sultan is a beautiful place. I would especially recommend the Charf room. It's all the way at the top so there are some stairs to climb, but the view is spectacular. The breakfast is delicious. And the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. We would go back there at the drop of a hat!

Would highly recommend!!
We were welcomed and felt like we were part of their family!!!

Lovely building full of art and in a great location on the edge of the Kasbah. Friendly and attentive staff. Amazing breakfast. The bed was a little hard for my wife’s taste but felt fine to me. We were able to walk down to the port to take the ferry to Spain.

Excellent location. Clean. Service was awkward and overbearing, tediously difficult to get basic things done like ordering eggs, getting a wake up call, getting a airport taxi. Weird & frustrating. Armatures maybe. Clueless. Earnestly well intentioned and exceedingly annoying. And I'm easy to please.

I am so happy to have found this great place! Absolutely everything was perfect. I stayed in a panoramic sea view room, which was well worth the stairs to get there. The room was very nicely decorated, the bed extremely comfortable, nice bathroom amenities, and a huge, beautiful terrace. All the staff, especially Ismail and also the tall, young man who helped me with my luggage, are warm, kind, and helpful. It was a wonderful stay.

A beautiful authentic accomodation with excellent service - attention to all needs- and a beautiful, quiet and interesting environment.
Very comfortable rooms, gorgeous terrace views and garden for sitting, writing, working or pleasure. Short walk to ocean view platform, harbour and many restaurants, Medina and bars.. highly recommended

This is a beautiful property. I highly recommend booking the top floor with the private balconies. The staff is wonderful-- very friendly and attentive. The breakfasts were incredible, and we loved ordering wine/beer on the patio in the evenings. I would stay here again without reservation. This is a great place and very affordable for what you get.

I rarely write reviews, but it was such a perfect stay that I felt compelled to write one. This is a very beautiful establishment, and everyone working there is extremely nice! Breakfast was gargantuan, and the rooms are very cute. Next time I visit Tangier, I will definitely stay there again!

Our stay was May 2022. The decor was inspirational. Fresh flowers everywhere along side Moroccan antiques and collections of handmade artifacts. The property was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was different (and large) every day and included an egg dish if you requested it. Many of the dishes were made by the house manager, Nadia. She also prepared our Moroccan dinner the last night of our stay. It was so delicious and way too much food. We had breakfast everyday on the upper terrace looking over the harbor and nearby mosque. Karim Patito was our tour guide for shopping and one of his team gave us a historical tour. Both were excellent. I highly recommend Karim and Dar Sultan for their attention to detail and your comfort.

Extraordinarily helpful staff who clearly take pride in their work. Khalid was very attentive and eager to help out. Charming place with an absolutely delicious breakfast prepared.

I stayed in the Charf room, all the way at the top up a few sets up narrow stairs, which has a stunning view of Tangier. Would recommend!

My mom & i stayed for 2 weeks all over Morocco. Dar Sultan was by far, the absolute best place we stayed. The owner, the staff, the room, the ambiance and the food they prepared, was amazing. We had dinner at the hotel both nights, incredible! Killer breakfast. Great location. Super sweet and helpful staff. Highly recommend! They spoiled us

Charming place in the heart of the kasbah, and the owner is super helpful too. Recommend. Note they do not take credit cards for payment at Riad, so either pay in advance or be sure to have ample Moroccan currency to settle bill.

This is a jewel of a place. It is surpassed by the excellent staff who go out of their way to help with any request. You will not regret having dinner here...the depth of flavors is sumptuous! Too, Nadia , manager and chef, is lovely and treats you like family. It was great to be pampered.

Cons: Super tiny rooms with a very open bathroom. Luckily for me, the hotel was empty for my stay, but if not, I would have likely not been too happy. The map they provided was not very helpful to navigate the medina. Not much English communication is understood, although French is very prevalent (including in the area itself). Steep stairs (only a problem for people who have troubles climbing).
Pros: Staff was always available and asking me for any requests for food/drink. Very helpful staff in finding any locations otherwise. Beautiful riad with fantastic views of the city and water (not many of these terraces available in the medina). Excellent location although hard to find based on the one sign at the entrance. Very in-your-face cats which is a bonus for me (not a riad I would suggest for anyone allergic or declines to be around cats). Available to help with transfers to the airport (should be no more than 200 dh per trip).

Loved the hotel. Wonderfully decorated - Xmas decorations were up as we arrived but usual standard of decor is fab. All staff are friendly and helpful and enjoyable to interact with.

It was a beautiful building, attractively furnished with lots of local craftsmanship. The outdoor spaces were covered with plants and flowers. The breakfast was impossibly lavish and delicious. And the staff were sweet and helpful. A delightful place to stay!

The property is a historic road and is decorated fantastically. The staff is all incredibly kind and attentive. The home is beautiful and well maintained and cared for. The cleaning staffs attention to detail is spectacular. We stayed in the rooftop suite, with the private terrace, where breakfast is served to you from 830-1030. Breakfast is fantastic. There are several stairs to climb and no elevator for those with mobility issues. There are public terraces for the hotel guests as well. The property is at the top of the kasbah so there will be a lot of uphill climbing to get home. Highly recommended.

The Hotel was authentic and incredible with the amazing service great food and the best ambience from all the Riads we stayed through our one month trip in Morocco. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel with its boutique Kasbah charm. Breakfast was served on the terrace among beautiful tended plants and flowers. A must stay and very convenient location for the Musee de Kasbah and all the stores in the Kasbah.

Wonderful property excellent staff. Take a cab from the airport or the ferry - the Kasbah is a maze!

Difficult walk to hotel. Steep stairs to room. Disgraceful behaviour of staff. Requested taxi to the bus station in the morning. Told no bus available. Lies. Taxi tried to take us to Tangier Port for good price. Drove all around to try and make us miss the bus. Took abuse in French to get us to bus station. Fortunately had agreed price before getting into taxi. Bus fare minimal. Taxi to port Dirhams 200. Particularly wanted the enjoyable views of the bus journey. Rampant dishonesty. Will never go back.

A quintessential Moroccan townhouse in the heart of the Kasbah. Well kept despite its age with its staff toiling to keep it in pristine shape. The breakfast is sumptuous and filling. Each of the rooms have characters of their own. The nuances channel your inner Arab and transport you to the mid century. The views from the rooftop is breathtaking.

A lovely traditional small riad hotel tucked away on the outskirts of the Kasbah. Lots of steps, some narrow, but this is to be expected in an historical building. There was some noise from other guests coming and going owing to tiled floors but again, this is what you have to accept if you also want the rustic charm. The owners didn’t speak much English but we managed with Spanish and French. We loved it.
