Lovely hotel at the northern end of Alpe d’Huez. Quite basic rooms with no tea/coffee in the room and clearly aimed at the ski season as the bar and restaurant were not open in July when we visited. Staff are very friendly and breakfast was good quality and varied options. There are only a few parking spaces outside the hotel but plenty of free parking on the street and other parts of town. Lovely town with real character and friendly people in shops and restaurants, of which there were plenty to choose from.

Booked to visit hotel first weekend in July but received E mail from hotel stating that they were closing for remainder of 2020. They stated that I would be offered a voucher and a chance to re book. I requested refund but was informed that voucher was only thing available .
Contacted Hotels.com as I booked hotel through them, not a lot of joy with them. They stated that the hotel had the choice whether to refund me or not. They contacted hotel and were advised no refund just voucher. As I booked through Hotels.Com I am of the opinion that my contract is with them and will be taking this further .

It is bit expensive, however ski slope is just across the road.

Flexible baggage storage great, practically ski in ski out from the Rifnel run.

Very nice breakfast and dinner included. Very basic food, but seem very local. An easy "slide" over to the ski lift.

Visited in the summer. The beds were smaller than a twin and very uncomfortable. Thin, cheap towels.
The room was clean, but I wouldn’t stay here again....due to the beds.

Close to slopes and away from noisy 'young' bars!
Welcoming, multi lingual staff.
Clean room with plenty of storage space.
Good continental self serve breakfast - with options to make your own crepes and boiled eggs.
Set 3 course menu for evening meal, with optional additional cheese course . Simple and basic of varying appeal!
Small bar area adjacent to restaurant- on 4th floor.

Staff friendly. Food is not great. Has fantastic panoramic view from dining room! Unable to sort tea and coffee out, except at breakfast.

I stayed one night in chaix .On arrival,I had difficulty in
finding the hotel because I was asking for the name Eliova.
I 've found the hotel's personel friendly and the hotel is overall comfortable , close to skiing area especially when you turn back .Much better than a 2 star hotel . I will return there for my next visit.

Good basic hotel. Clean and comfortable. There is free wifi but it is very patchy.

Stayed over new year. Compared to other accommodations, it was reasonably priced. It was well located, with the nearest slope across the road. We had designated lockers in the basement for our gear. The rooms were cleaned daily. The hotel was warm and the rooms were spacious. The bathrooms were modern and showers excellent. Service was very good, the waiter and bar manager Axel was very friendly and made our stay a delight. We decided to go for the half board option. Breakfast at the hotel was great, however the dinners were not to our liking. We found the food (such as fish and duck) to be overcooked. Some of the dishes were also not to our taste (such as a cheese fondu with only bread for dipping and a savoury cheese based dessert). This may have just been a British thing, as french guests nearby seemed to devour the cheese desserts! This disappointment was partially offset by the free wine with each three course dinner (250 ml each). The hotel also made an extra effort on our first night with mulled wine and on new years eve with a five course dinner and multiple wine bottles and champagne. We'd certainly recommend the hotel to others, though if we return we would stay away from the half board and go to the town for dinners. Many restaurants in town offered good meals for €15-€20 euro and overall the food was of a better standard (we chose not to eat at the restaurant for one night). The only other drawback was the wifi which was intermittent away from the reception area.

We arrived at 9pm knowing reception was closed but the number left as point of contact didn't work so we went through a few numbers in the leaflet until we got someone. He was very pleasant and checked us in. Room was fine apart from it had two single beds when we had booked a double. The sink drain stunk which made you heave when brushing your teeth. The wifi connection was awful and kicked you off after 30seconds which was extremely frustrating. As it’s a two star we didn't expect a high class service but what we DID expect were clean towels, toilet rolls and bins emptied at least every other day, but this was not the case. In the whole week we stayed there the rooms were not cleaned. They came in twice but don’t know what they did as I made the beds. I had to go down to reception to ask for toilet roll and towels and luckily someone was actually there. Reception was meant to be open from 07.30 - 13.30 and 14.30 - 19.30. The majority of time I came in and out of the hotel, I can count on one hand when there was someone there. The location of the hotel was perfect for what we wanted. Luckily we didn’t want lunch or dinner in the hotel, as these amenities were closed including the bar. There were no signs informing you of this until you went to the fourth floor finding it empty. We paid 79euros a night and it really wasn’t worth it. Find a chalet, save yourselves a fortune.

What a wonderful to surprise. En-route to the Alps for a ski week, we decided on a stop over at this hotel. The staff were fantastic and extremely helpful, and the advise to wake a 7am to see the sun rise was inspirational. My children want to stay there and not go to the alps! Praise indeed!

For a 2 star hotel i was very pleased & suprised by this hotel. The staff were really helpful and the bathroom & shower alot better than I expected! I plan on returning to Alpe D'Huez next year & hope to stay at Hotel Eliova - le chaix again.

Don't be too put off by reviews slating Le Chaix - it is basic, but I have stayed in much worse! In fact we arrived and were very pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the room. We chose basic to stick to a budget, so our expectations were right. Breakfast was great! The buffet was excellent, but the view their little restaurant has on the top floor is simply stunning! The location is brilliant - you can easily ski to about 30 metres from the door, and it's just 2 minutes to the main lifts at Les Bergers.
I would recommend the hotel, and would stay again. It's a great option if you are on a budget, and it's in a brilliant location.

A very pleasant and friendly hotel, excellent value given its location, and certainly very handy for winter sports. Certainly no expense spared on heating!
