This is a beautiful hotel in a great location, right in the middle of the very long Matemwe beach. We loved everything about the hotel. Our room - a junior suite with a beach view and balcony - was gorgeous and very large. There was a view of the ocean from every room, including the shower, and the room was very clean and comfortable in every way. The restaurant is also excellent as is the bar (better cocktails than most places in East Africa). Our favorite dish was the ceviche, but everything was great. The pools, lobby, lounging areas were all beautiful as well. Also appreciated the friendly and helpful staff, who arranged activities including a snorkeling and dolphin trip to Mmemba atoll. The hotel also offers excellent massages onsite and a free yoga class twice a week. We just loved everything about this hotel and would happily return here.

We were very happy with our stay! Helpful and nice staff. Great food. Absolutely beautiful location and nice rooms. A bit thin walls maybe, but other than that it was amazing. Very clean.

The hotel is very rustic and feels like it fits within the ambience of Zanzibar. located right on the white sands next to the Indian Ocean with restaurants nearby, that are accessible by walking along the beach. The owners and staff were so welcoming and truly lovely people. The hotel is of a size where you get to know the staff and they know you. Highly recommend it.....

Really nice little hotel directly at Matemwe beach. The rooms are spacious and the hotel is nice to chill with two pools and a separate area at the beach. Staff was very nice and helpful!

A lovely hotel located right on the beach with a great outside decked area.
Room was good with a balcony with partial sea view. Shower good with hot water. The matress on the bed however was the hardest mattress i've ever slept on!! I didnt complain as i had read a similar comment on some elses review.
Breakfast was okay, a little limited in choice but that seems to be the case with most African hotels. I was disappointed one morning when i asked for the pancakes with banana & honey. When it arrived it was just pancakes!! I then asked what happened to the rest of it and another waiter said that they had run out of bananas!! In Africa really!! I did get the honey.
The beach is wounderfull and great for long walks. The pool and garden area is also very nice. Dinner was generally a good choice, however i used to venture along the beach and try some of the local establishments including Bobs garden restaurant which was pretty good and not expensive.
Staff were all friendly, though i did ask for an early breakfast one day as was due to go diving at 8am and even though the booklet in the room said they can provide breakfast at 7am when i asked for it at 7:15am they said they could do me a packed breakfast! Even though they start breakfast at 7:30am. I did bring that to the attention of management later that day who stated that shouldn't have been the case.
Dive centre just along the beach and diving off Memba island was pretty good and probably the best location in Zanzibar.

Stayed over Christmas payed 220€ a night, AC worked but was not ajustable so straight In your face or off. Breakfast was ok but nothing special and very slow. Next to the hotel is a empfy house where locals used to hang out, listen to loud music, shouting to each other and just disturb the quit and peace you maybe look in Villa Kiva.
Moreover I would definitely prefer a different place! Have seen many places where you got more for your money!

The resort was clean and the room was spacious. I paid for the upgrade to ocean view and am glad I did that. We had a large balcony (on 2nd floor) that provided shade and a nice breeze.Restaurant was also good and I enjoyed the pizza. The pools were small and looked “tired”. Could use a refresh. The beach cabanas were nice though and we used those.Paid some young boys to navigate the urchins at low tide out to the reef. It was fun to do!

Villa Kiva is a fantastic place to stay. It's very lovely and has all the services you need for a very relaxing stay! We really enjoyed the two swimming pools and the view from our balcony and a wonderful breakfast.

This truly is a hidden gem as far as a wonderful place to relax. There is a gorgeous beach, fantastic staff, a facility to sign up for diving and snorkeling right there and you can walk down the beach to board the boat. The ocean was pristine, the pools warm, plenty of lounges to lay on, and did I mention the staff was one of the friendliest I have come across. Because it is small, we were able to get to know many of the guests there which was an added bonus. If you want a lively nightclub atmosphere or fast pace place, this is not it. If you want to relax and enjoy yourself with peace and quiet, there is no better place. The prices were very reasonable though DO BRING cash if you want to eat outside of the hotel or go on excursions..

Excellent service from staff. A quiet and peaceful place great for a weekend getaway. Fabulous snorkelling and swimming with dolphins. Entertainment with Maasai dancers in evening. A very enjoyable stay.

Villa Kiva was a great experience for me and my friend. We loved the staff, the environment and the accommodations. The water in the shower was very salty but everything else was wonderful. The food that they served was great, especially at dinner time.

We stayed in a room with sea view which was close to the beach and restaurant. The food at the hotel was very good and the staff were attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Good facilities with 2 pools and the stand to book excursions to Mnemba which we’d highly recommend. There are touts who approach you as soon as you step onto the beach but they were mostly harmless and not too pushy. Overall would recommend a stay here for people looking for a quiet stay in beach paradise.
