Really great spot, better than expected. Considered changing future plans to stay here again. The only thing is that the club across the street is loud until 4am, but it was easy to sleep through.

Overall, it is a lovely historic building. Our room was on the top floor directly across from a church tower, bells are loud and ring often, especially on Sundays. We could also hear loud music late into the night from nearby restaurants/bars. Ear plugs are a must. The floor was a bit dirty and we had no hand soap. Bed was quite comfortable if a bit on the hard side. The food in restaurant was inconsistent. Breakfasts were very good but dinner was not great (meat so tough, could not eat it). They did take the meal off our bill. Front desk and door men all very helpful.

Absolutely phenomenal hotel; elegant, stylish, early 1900s -- wonderful rooms, great food, lovely resturant and café, pool, amazing library, terrific location, comfortable bed, great view. just loved it, highly recommend *****

Incredible stay all around. Loved everything about this place the century old property has so much charm that’s been preserved and feels so luxurious. The room was large bright and clean. Amazing bed, linens and amenities. Will return as soon as I can! The location and views are perfect and the staff is so kind. They showed how happy they are to work at such a great place.
Also you can buy the barhrobes!

This hotel has a perfect location if you plan to do sightseeing and enjoy the beautiful old city centre of Panama City. You’ll have a great choice sights, restaurants and night life options very close by. If you plan to visit the Pearl Islands the pier from which ferries depart is only 10-15 minutes drive away. The hotel is located in a beautiful building, renovated and decorated to respect its origins. Staff at the ATH overall is very service minded and friendly. Rooms are stylish, spacious and some of them with small balconies have a wonderful view of the square called Plaza Herrera. Toiletries are very high-quality. The hotel restaurant serves great food and is not expensive (try the tacos with corvina). A pity that the restaurant lacks a bit of ambience as few guests apparently eat there. There is also a nice bar and cafe (a bit hidden - we only saw it sat the end of our stay).
A few remarks:
- There is a rooftop bar just in front of the hotel that will play loud music in the weekends, which may irritate some guests with rooms facing the square.
- Service is somehow limited for hotel of this category - they do not offer 24/7 Room service, there is not consistent assistance with luggage, the hotel restaurant already at 6 pm on Sundays.
These are areas for possible improvement. We still had a fantastic stay and the ATH, which comes highly recommended as one of the best hotels in old Panama City.

This hotel has done a great job restoring the building for modern day convenience but has kept all the charm from the original building. The staff was so helpful and the location is fantastic for exploring the historic areas of Panama City.

Wow. We were so impressed with our stay. The service was unbelievably good -- from the front desk to maid service. Everyone was super (and sincerely) friendly and made very interaction a pleasure. We have traveled first class through other foreign countries, and this was equivalent. We loved that the hotel is also a piece of the history of Panama City, and the location is absolutely where you want to be as a first-time visitor. Easy to walk to fantastic restaurants and security was always present (due to proximity of the Presidential Compound) -- but not in an uncomfortable way.

This was our first time in Panama and our first time staying at the American Trade Hotel, which has a heritage building designation. What an amazing hotel! It was clean, safe, centrally located in Casco Viejo and the staff were always available and willing to provide guidance on places of interest to visit in the City.
As it was a special birthday for my spouse, Aldhair Diaz and Estefania Martinez were very instrumental in getting me sorted with a bottle of Prosecco for the room on our arrival to which they added a scrumptious brownie square with fresh fruit.
The staff remembered my spouse's birthday and there wasn't a shortage of best wishes from them on the day. Again, another scrumptious brownie square with fresh fruit was dropped off at the room for the birthday celebration.
We were very appreciative to all the staff for their attention to detail and friendliness. A special shout-out to Luis-Armstrong who was a wealth of knowledge on the history of the hotel and general Panamanian History.
We'll certainly be back for another visit!

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable with bright with bright white soft linens. The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. Also, we’ve never stayed anywhere where a pool is open 24 hours. Where else can you have a late night swim with some cocktails. The hot water takes some to come out of the pipes however it’s well worth the wait. They have really nice bath soaps and creams. The area is ideal with amazing restaurants nearby. I would stay here again in a heartbeat

The American Trade Hotel is very conveniently located on a square in old town Panama City. The building itself is interesting, the room and bathroom were spacious, there was a sweet little balcony. Staff were great. However, there are two notable things that resulted in a poor rating. The most signicant was the air conditioning system, which ran during the one night we stayed at the hotel. The following morning I awoke with terrible allergy symptoms that continued throughout my travel day. Only the following day was I back to normal, which is a further indication that I did not have a cold or other illness but was responding to an allergen and my symptoms subsided once I was no longer exposed and got it out of my system. So I think the HVAC could use a good disinfection. I would imagine this is a common problem in that environment! Additionally, neither of us could get hot water out of the shower. I would assume this was a problem with this one room only, but still quite unfortunate. If not for these two issues, I would rate American Trade Hotel highy.

This beautiful hotel is located in the historical part of the city. It's within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and sights. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, my room on the top floor was directly across from an old church with bells that rang every hour from early morning to late night. The only other negative was that, for some reason, my shower lacked hot water or even lukewarm water. Lastly, due to heavy rainfall, water poured through a fire alarm on the ceiling in the hallway outside my suite. It started to pool by the door, but friendly hotel staff were able to grab a bucket to catch the water and mop it up before it started to leak into my room.

We like the friendliness and the helpfulness of each and every staff member. They made us feel at home. Its location is perfect for visiting historic sites and museums. The Club provided great Jazz and Blues music.

We enjoyed this hotel--it was well located and the services were good. A lovely older property with well appointed and well maintained rooms. Staff was extremely helpful. Room was a bit dark but manageable.

Great location, good food. Everyone was very nice

Friendly staff and excellent food at the restaurant. This is an older hotel that needs so upgrading of plumbing features. It was hard to get the right temperature in the shower. I did advise staff of the issue. Beware, this hotel is in Casco Viejo with narrow streets full of traffic most of the time. So that leads to traffic noise, horns honking, etc. Also, our room over looked the catholic church which stated ringing bells at 6am and continued throughout the day every 15 minutes.

Great property for visiting the old town. Only problem is that the plumbing can take a long time to deliver hot water. Also the staircases are not that safe to use as they do not have handrails that can easily be held onto.

Staff very helpful and anxious to please
In a very noisy area.
Had to change rooms because of massively loud rock music on the balcony roof bar across from our room

Very loud music just outside the property until 130AM. Loud church bell could be heard every 1/2 hr on the other side (630am-1030pm). If you want a good night’s sleep, I wouldn’t stay here.
