Wonderful place! Very clean which is most important for me. Close to everything you’ll need. The owners are very pleasant. Will definitely stay again.

The room was clean and perfect size for two!

After a series of one-night stays on a road trip from MI to MA, we stayed in ME for 3 nights to visit Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Sunnyside is at the tip of Mount Desert Island. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The pool was literally outside our back door. Our hosts, Helena and Richard, are lovely folk. The only caveat is the internet service. It was largely nonexistent during our stay. The owners are aware and were diligently working to correct the issue when last we spoke. We would stay again if in the area if the internet becomes reliable.

We have stayed here several times. It’s becoming a little out dated but is still a good place to stay. We stayed in the motel this time and found it could have used more outlets for cell chargers and such. Wi-Fi signal was pretty weak, no in room coffee, and no microwave. These are all petty things but could be improved on. Still a good value for the money 10 minutes from Acadia.

Room was very clean. Bed was very comfortable. We arrived late and left early so we really have no complaints. Floors are very uneven. Motel is fairly old. Reminds me of motels in the 60’s. Quite nostalgic.

Sweet place, had everything I needed, attractively presented. Wonderful couple manages the place. Enjoyed talking with each of them. Highly recommended.
4.2
Just the bare necessities. No microwave in the room but they did have a fridge, no ice machine. We were expecting a cottage, but got a motel room instead.

My experience was great. Right from the time I booked the room, Helen reached out inquiring if my arrival will be after 9 pm. (I'm sure she does this for all the guests). When I did respond, on the day off, she called and checked with instructions on how to enter the room. When I got lost and called her after 9pm, she answered the phone in a friendly way and helped me find the hotel. Throughout my stay, she was pleasant and approachable. I did not meet her husband, but I did take the coffee he brewed. That was excellent coffee. Thank you both!!!

A delightful, quaint and very clean property. The pillows are flat. They need an update.

Cozy and well maintain cottage

Lovely spacious bedroom, beautiful cottages and area, very well maintained and wonderful mangers!! Small bathroom and scanty bathroom supplies.

Helen is very nice and friendly. The place is well kept, very clean!

towels are old and bed spread sheets are old and not clean.. the shower area is small

Clean, comfortable room. 5 miles from arcadia national park. Well priced and friendly staff.
4.2
Great cottage at great price. The owners are great folks but keep in mind the the property is older, so we had some issues with keys not working but the owners were prompt in addressing them. Unfortunately the internet connection is not great at cottage 10 A and there's NO Ac/heat. But it's Maine you don't really need it!

Clean friendly property, would stay there again. Convinient to all local attraction.

Great host and location for the price

The property was very cozy and cute, perfect if you're looking for a reasonable place to stay in Bar Harbor. The owners were very welcoming and gave us great advice about where to go around the island. The service is unbeatable as well and they go the extra mile to make sure your stay is clean and comfortable. Also a very convenient drive to Acadia. Definitely would stay here again when we come back to Bar Harbor.

Its clean here.

These rooms and cottages do not offer standard amenities such as air conditioning or a clothes iron.

The Owners were very friendly. Although paying was difficult, they have 1 phone line, and it took 6 times for my payment to be processed without a call coming in to cancel the transaction. And Wifi was very low and kept dropping.
Our room was clean but had a musty smell and the window A/C took a day and half to cool the room.

Place was super clean and just far enough outside of the park to get away from the craziness while also being able to experience Bar Harbor and all of MDI. It’s run by an older couple and they are just as pleasant as they can be. Will probably stay here from now on. Also, not many people use their pool so it was nice to get some alone time at it. Very nice pool.

It was very nice to get a call from the owner around 8 pm as we were sitting at Mt. Cadillac to watch the sunset. She told us to enjoy ourselves and gave the number of our cottage. So we stayed a bit late, then went for dinner, and final back to the hotel.
The hotel is not at the center of Bar Harbor but rathe 10 miles away on the roadside. It was comfortable for us to stay and even has a little kitchenette. No A/C was needed even in the middle of summer.
4.2
Our stay here was great! The owners are lovely and the cabins are clean and have everything you need. Only a short ride to Acadia National Park!
4.2
Very nicely renovated cottage. Close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
4.2
Cozy and clean. The couple that ran it were kind and genuine.

The room was large, clean, and the property is well cared for. The owners are on site 24/7 and were friendly and hospitable. Our room was at the front of the property and faced the road, so there was a fair amount of noise from the road. But it looks like most of the rooms are further away and would not hear the road as much. The mattresses were very firm. Ample, convenient parking—we had a spot right next to our room. We’d stay there again.
4.2
It was comfortable.

Words cannot even begin to describe the hospitality of this lovely couple who own and manage this little gem. W we were welcomed in to a cute little cottage. It was clean and had all that we needed just as described. The owners, being short handed due to the economy, manager it all themselves and take pride in doing so. We ended up staying an extra night!
This delightful couple, Robert and Helena, will relish you with stories. They came from Poland in the early 70s with $10 in their pocket. He built this property. I’m not sure how many rooms there are but there is a small motel and maybe 10 cottages. They can tell you the best spots to see a sunset or the best place to eat lobster.
We would definitely recommend this place. Thank you Robert and Helena for a wonderful place to stay.
4.2
The room was large and clean, but with a musty smell.Towels were paper thin and scratchy.
.NO WIFI(of any speed) and very weak phone reception.
4.2
The wifi did not work. It was one of the first things I filter hotels for. They need to get a better wifi.
4.2
Distance from Acadia was not a 15-18 min walk, as advertised, but a 15-18 minute drive.
4.2
Pleasant owners maintain cottages and motel row in a nice, cordial and quiet manner. Nice privacy.
4.2
No room cleaning because of covid. Do laundry yourself before 8pm. No microwave in the room. Small refrigerator with broken pieces. One of the lamps not working. Uncomfortable bed. Will definitely choose other places next time
4.2
Very clean, well maintained. The owners work very hard. Comfortable cabins with everything needed for your stay.

Staying in a cottage at Sunnyside was a fun and unique way for us to enjoy Acadia. We stayed there 1 week, and it was super convenient to all of Acadia and just a 15 minutes drive to Bar Harbor. We enjoyed sitting outside our cottage in the evenings and watching the sunset. The owners are very friendly and helpful.
4.2
I enjoyed the cottage style. It was nice to go on vacation and go to place that didn’t feel so hotely.
4.2
Sunnyside is an adorable place, conveniently located just a few miles from Acadia and Bar Harbor. It’s not new, but the cute yellow cottages and motel, was clean and comfortable. The owners are on site and just wonderful. I would highly recommend staying here.
4.2
This was an absolutely amazing experience. I will definitely go back the next time I’m traveling to Acadia National Park.

Friendly hotel owners. Nice king size bed. Close to Bar Harbor and Acadia.
