Stayed in a beachfront bure at Barefoot Kuata, and it was fantastic - very comfortable (super comfy bed), amazing outdoor bathroom, very clean, great airflow, and right on the beautiful beach. The staff were friendly and I was able to do the shark snorkel, which was good. Unfortunately I wasn't able to do the shark dive as it was booked up and there was only one day where it would have been possible for me, if it's something you're interested in I recommend booking it as soon as you're able- I heard it was incredible. Over my stay was great - the island is stunning, staff is friendly, and food was good (one night was a buffet, one night was a la carte). Snorkelling off the beach was great too, you have to go out a little ways but then it's very good. Reef sharks can be found there too. I'm really happy I went with the beach front bure, it was ideal!

We had a difficult stay at Barefoot Kuata however there were some aspects that were very enjoyable. The diving offered at the resort is fantastic and we spent an excellent morning doing the introductory shark dive. The diving staff were very friendly and competent and undoubtedly the highlight of the trip.
The first room we stayed at (Garden Bure) fell well below expectation. The bathroom had not been cleaned properly and the entire room carried a strong smell of urine. The staff suggested this was because of the air freshener they use, but we were very skeptical of this and asked for a different room. We were given an ocean front bure and straight away could tell the air freshener was not the problem as the smell was absent. Unfortunately, this was the highlight of this second room. A big issue for us was there were some openings for lizards to enter into the bedroom and the outdoor shower / bathroom area felt very exposed. The pillows and the bed smelled musty and damp and in addition, the sunlounger just outside the bure also looked like it had a mould on it.
All in all we felt the staff were great and tried to help us however the quality of the rooms made this a very underwhelming stay.

Loved the staff! They are very caring and make you feel like family :) the marine biologist is super charismatic and passionate about the marine life, and the man that led me for the scuba diving with sharks was so chill and kind as well. Would definitely recommend if looking for an adventure!

Stayed for 2 nights and it was lovely, wish they had filter water available like the other resorts instead of having to buy bottles.

Lovely staff, great food, awesome place to relax and snorkel.
Only concern was the lack of organisation and upkeep of gear at the dive shop.

Nice property. Rooms can get very hot and humid, fans can only do so much. However room was VERY clean and staff quite nice. Food was excellent. Water beautiful and clear. Worth a visit for sure.

My boyfriend and I just returned from this beautiful and captivating island. The staff was absolutely fabulous and made us feel at home from the moment we got off the boat. They went above and beyond to meet our needs and satisfied every desire we expressed. The water was clear and the reef was incredible. We went snorkeling everyday! We also did the snorkeling with the sharks. It was amazing!!
Thank you Samy, Frank, Allie, Butani, Lipue, Seta, Tim, Nathan, Nancy, Johnny, Jimmy, Ben, Solomon and Sir Paul!
Miss each and everyone of you! We will be back!!

Staying in a huge tent on the beach, waking up to beautiful views everyday, and really being able to relax and enjoy yourself is inevitable! The staff went out of their way to make our time enjoyable, and I will 100% be back!

I can not say enough great things about Barefoot Kuata. Anyone leaving negative feedback about this island clearly doesn't know how to appreciate Fiji. The staff was so friendly and really tried to make you feel part of their family. I stayed here for 4 days and everyone knew me on a first name basis and that made me feel so welcomed. I stayed in a beach front bure and it was absolutely amazing!!! I spent most of my time scuba diving here and the dive staff was exceptional! The shark dive was a blast and all of my fun dives were spectacular as well. It wasn't manta season yet but the underwater diversity was great. Snorkling right from the beach was great as well and usage of the kayaks, paddle boards and snorkel gear was included. There are a few different hikes you can do to explore the island as well which was nice. The food was great too. Buffet style and all you can eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Very relaxed atmosphere and the photos online do not do this place justice. Definetly make this island a stop along your journey, you won't regret it. Big thanks to all the management and staff for making my stay here one I will never forget:) Vinaka xoxo

Had great fun with the local fijians :) Conditions of facilities are quite good. Resort activities can keep you busy for the day. No mobile signal, and wifi signal is not very strong.

We had an absolutely amazing stay and experience at Barefoot Kuata. We were sad to have to leave after a few nights. Skip the overpriced higher end resorts, and choose this very nice, clean, laid back, and more private resort for an authentic Fijian experience. The employees (villagers from the neighboring island) treat you like their own and go above and beyond in order to give you the most memorable vacation ever. We went with the beach front bungalow and private bath - which felt like we were on our own deserted island being woken to the sounds of the sea and the genuine laughter of the employees. The food was all fresh and delicious with a lot of variety (three all you can eat meals per day), and there were enough available island activities to fill your whole day if you wanted.
The atmosphere, the clearest, warmest water with a coral reef to snorkel in right off the beach, and the friendliest people had us smiling from ear to ear for many days, and still to this day thinking about it :). Much thanks to the wonderful staff at Barefoot Kuata.

Barefoot Kuata is a beautiful place, a quintessential Fiji experience— beautiful beach, amazing rock formations, clear blue water, and awesome snorkeling right off the beach. They will take you on a shark dive, too, but we did not partake. The staff couldn’t be nicer, everyone was so friendly and accommodating. We stayed in a safari queen room, which was basically a really nice tent by th beach with a great private outdoor bathroom. There is no a/c, just a ceiling fan, but the ocean breeze cooled things off well enough. All meals are included in the resort fee- I guess my only complaint is having a set schedule of when to eat, and the limited options of what to eat, but all of the food was good. Our friend Ili made us a special lunch on our last day which was delicious and special. But overall, this place is a beautiful paradise, we are so glad we stayed here.

Just as you imagine a South Pacific experience. Everything you need to feel well is there. We were there for four days and regretted to have to leave.

2 more nights... First impression after arrival tells a lot: we had booked for 4 nights, but started immediately to think of extending our booking! Great staff, beatiful island, good beach with snorkeling and all water sports, dive school, guided walks, 3 swimming pools etc etc. Food was tasty, but almost everytime served half cold since it was made in a big kitchen, and not at the restaurant area itself, except breakfast. Beachfront tents have amazing view, but also the garden bures are also not more than 30 metres from the water. Only the beach tent number 3 has hot water. Only big issue during our stay was, that due to an overbooking with our last 2 nights, we got first time ever being actually downgraded instead of upgrading. We booked ensuite tent on the beach, but they didn't have anything left (problems with booking sites they said). They offered us another tent, with common toilets and showers, which was ok, but when we asked for some compensation, they actually started arguing that we should have asked directly from them if they had vacancy or not. With a lot of discussion, they still didn't understand that it shouldn't matter where we were while making the booking. Also, we had to show that their own website was allowing the overbooking still at that stage if anyone wanted to book, and we guess that at that point they understood. Luckily we were already there to sort things out and not just arrive with overbooking. Without this incident we would give higher grades.
