Wonderful family trip. The area had some great hikes and the food at the hotel pub was really good. We ate there both nights and were all happy! Would stay there again.

A nice character older hotel. Our unit was spacious but not the latest in decor. What we really liked was our meal - good value and presented promptly and tasted divine

Post Heaphy Track accommodation. Great staff and fantastic pub. Accommodation was clean with lovely garden outlook, although dated.

Very convenient spot as logistics stop for the Heaphy Track.

The shower water swills around the base of the toilet. Gross. The sewage smell was strong.

Totally peaceful. Friendly staff. Great pub dining. Shower was a disaster - flooded the whole bathroom. One light not working. Wall heater not working (although a second heater worked). Hard bed.

A big spacious visually clean room however had musty smell that never went away even after opening windows and doors.

The shower was so badly designed that the whole bathroom floor became a river with each shower . The towels were pretty hard and old, but good to soak up all the water!
1.5
Advertised free wifi. This is only in the hotel, not units. Very basic rooms.

Kitchenette was a bit limited, and the shower was the wrap around curtain which partly flooddd the bathroom. Good basic food in the hotel.

Really enjoyed our stay there, staff were great and the rooms although a little dated, were spotless. Would definitely stay there again & recommend to others

The bar and restaurant are great spots in the area, with some notes of history of the town, with nice staff and probably one of the best options for food and drinks around. The location is perfect too to go to visit the area and the wonderful arcs. However, the place needs definitely renovation: some painting and a better shower that does not split water in the whole bathroom would make this my perfect choice in town.

Staff seemed indifferent and not super friendly. Hotel is old and needs updating. Only bath amenities provided were soap and towels. No shampoo or hari dryer provided. Beds sagged and TV was the old CRT type with very limited channels. No phone in the room. Went to front desk/restaurant area during the morning "open hours" to seek bath amenities and placed was locked up and dark. Would NOT recommend this accomodation.

Friendly people. Units well presented although could do with fan in shower and some type of water retention around the wet floor shower in our unit. Good pub meal, recommend the hotel and the area to visit.

Comfortable spacious room with nice garden view, and very comfy bed. We had an accessible shower which left puddles of water all across the bathroom floor, but the pressure was good and the water hot, which was just what we needed after walking the Heaphy Track. After 4 days of rain, we wanted to wash and dry a lot of gear, but unfortunately, the single drier was out of order. Luckily, the sun was shining, and the owner offered us use of her washing line which was kind of her.
Good value tasty meals at the pubstyle restaurant onsite, and if you're looking for friendly, prompt service that's no problem, Steve the barman’s your man!
Overall, a very convenient reasonable place to stay when coming off the Heaphy.

This is a quaint older motel with french doors opening onto a terrace. The kitchen is well appointed, the unit is very roomy. A good way to experience Karamea.
